Aughhhhh!!
i HATE it when its two weeks into school and the principal, a friend i grew up with, calls me and tells me my son has already been to the office like ten times!!! What ever happened to my muffin' head. i hate that i cannot find the right disipline to correct the behavior, and then i feel the guilt cause his father passed away our house burnt and im stuck at home with fibromyalgia and no matter how many times i try, i cannot go back to work!!   ~sighs~ what to do.

true  but coming back home (to Tn) from St Louis where they all had best behaviors and kuddos from teachers to this, its never  ending!! My son is in the principals office nearly everyday. i keep saying that same thing, spirited lil bugger isnt he. Have you sat down with your son and asked him about his behaviour.  A question or two letting him know that you are confused by the change in his behaviour from St Louis to Tn.  Ask him if he can help you understand what is happening for him and if there is anything he would like you to do to help him.  Maybe he has found the transition hard?  Maybe he is acting up to impress the kids or to try and fit in.  If you talk to him in a genuinely curious way (eg. I am a little puzzled, can you help me understand etc) it can sometimes help the conversation and reduces the likelihood that he will think you are angry or looking at ways of blaming him. 

Maybe see if you and he could come up with some sort of plan to surprise those darn teachers, make it into a game.  Lets see how long you can go for without being sent to the principals office.  Man will those teachers be surprised if you are not there every day.  Something like that.  I am not sure how old he is...this would work with younger kids I think (it is a while since I worked in schools) though having said that, I also worked with mid teens and used this kind of behavioural incentive stuff quite successfully.  If he is little, a star chart at home with a gold star for each lesson he does at school without being sent to the office.  You want small goals that will be readily achieved so rather than a star for a good day at school, he gets a star for each lesson.

ok this is way longer than I planned.  I apologise if I am telling you what you already know.

His behaviour doesn't sound like a spank-worthy offence though.
