Thanks all for your good thoughts. Yes VP there is still a LOT of extended family up in Michigan so I'm thinking she has a lot of support. It makes me sad that she will never know why because he left no note and didn't know my uncle had passed. I'm going to write her a letter this afternoon.

He was my favorite uncle. When I was little they all looked alike, all the kids just used a generic 'Unk' towards all of them. I can remember family reunions with over 100 first cousins... madness! Lemonade for the kids, cocktails for the grown ups. My grandmother who was always always sitting down surrounded by people. I guess after birthing 17 live kids she probably needed to be sitting eh? She died when I was 8-ish and I don't remember much except that she always felt very soft when I hugged her. I never knew my grandfather at all.

Those metal chairs with the scratchy woven seats, everyone wearing polyester lol. And omg the jello salads. Scary scary green jello molded with chunks of pineapple and celery.

7 of the uncles lived on one street and we would just wander all over the place. Oh, we played darts with actual metal darts, horseshoes with heavy metal horseshoes too.

One or two of the Unks would eventually pull out a jar of moonshine towards the end. I stole a jar when I was 12 and got drunk one summer day haha. Yuck.

Okies I'm leaving the late 60's and jello salads where they belong, going back out into the sunshine with my book.

i hate when everything feels like one big weight on my shoulders. i know that it is more logical for me to separate things into sections and deal with them one by one. but can i do that today? NOOOOOO, i have to be all panicky and what if and blah blah blah to complete frustration and overwhelmedness (nope don't think that's a word but it is now.) it makes me want to cuss like a sailor and sit down and bawl like a kid.

maybe i just need a good smack upside the head.

I hate it when I read a profile of anyone who is looking for someone else to "complete" them. What, are you missing an arm or something?

And also:

Fat, balding middle-aged men with a profile that state they are looking for "slim, attractive, athletic" women in their early 20's. First off, what makes you think YOU have anything to offer? And secondly, why not just write "I'm looking for someone who is too young to have any REAL expectations of me, and won't have enough experience to know what a terrible lover I am." ?? Oh that's right, because HONESTY and self-awareness isn't in your profile.

I hate that the road construction in front of the hotel includes several huge machines that beep while theyre backing up.. and SOMETHING is ALWAYS backing up.. and for some reason, something about said machines triggers the automatic front door, which means A) the door keeps opening randomly and B) its FRIGGIN COLD in here!!
