I've always felt a little bit weird. Like there are rules I don't quite understand when it comes to social interaction, unspoken rules that others know about but I just can't get the hang of. When talking to people I feel awkward and stilted, small talk is an incredible chore for me. Group interaction is even worse because it is like a whole bunch of people are leaving me behind and I can never catch up.

You aren't alone.

Most likely it is more common to feel alien than not, people just don't admit it.

Whilst my day wasn't too bad now in the last 30 mins my fibro as flaring up big time..great...now I finally manage more the mental move to work on my uni work load but now my legs and arms are in bloody pain...

I took my amitriptyline to hope it is getting better, but know that often this one leads to knock me out and puts me to sleep...

I just hate my current state of living with working around the clock...and now that I am out of it for a week and at my parents house I still can't chill due to uni work I have to catch up with...why can't we have the first of June...kind of NOW...as on 1st of June I am going to Gran Canaria with 2 service users and a colleague...and gosh I need a proper rest

The important thing to remember is that others don't see this when they look at you. They look at you and feel they are the one who can't cope. What's going on is that we compare the way we feel inside to how people look outside. We've all picked up the ability to make small talk on the weather etc which makes us look comfortable doing it, even though we don't feel that way.

And this is the reason self help groups work, we get to compare how we feel inside to how everyone else feels inside and discover we are just like everyone else, not alien after all.

Nope, I'm most definitely alien. I truly have a hard time understanding why humans do & say the things that they do. I have these rules for behavior & when they don't live up to them, I cut them dead & go back to my insular little alien world. My dog, on the other hand, is great company!!

But it feels really good to know that there are others out there who feel the same way. I don't tend to like most humans either. When I told His Evilness that he told me that he was truly honored that I do in fact like & enjoy him & the Mrs. In my perfect world, I would work by myself with computers. I get them.

Close but not exactly a door prize Des..this is a different type of alienation..though one very common to those who grew up with abuse. I think in this case I will put the start of a thread over on Off Topic and we can all have at.

I tried to staple it shut with those skin staples, but it wouldn't hold. :(

Thankfully, there's a awesome emergency clinic down the road. The doc gave me some stitches for $50. Hurray for cheap!

It's annoying when i'm out shopping and buy the wrong size curtain rods without knowing how wide my windows are at home. *le sigh* D'oh! And here i thought they would work, too.
