In a normal, civilized area sink wrenches may be plentiful. In this sinkhole of civilization, even the walmarts and kmarts don't carry those suckers. I ended up buying something with a spring-fed jaw but it couldn't crack the corrosion.

It's a moot point anyway. The Elderlies contacted the faucet's manufacturer and, because of the life-time warranty, they are overnighting a new replacement faucet and the "purpose built tool" used to remove the "specialized lock-nut" that holds the old faucet to the sink (quoted words apparently used by the manufacturer's representative).

I guess I'll be asked by the Elderlies to remove the faucet again tomorrow. I can't wait to see what's so special about this "purpose built tool."
