When I was in chiropractic college and doing anatomy lab, all of our cadavers were those of folks who'd left their bodies to science.  These cadavers were in surprisingly good shape...for something that had been preserved in formaldehyde...but there's no denying the ravages of death and chemicals.


Cro magnon were preserved?

what you are referring to Tammy - is commonly known as morgue humor.  You find it in the operating room, the morgue, cop shops - anyplace where people have to deal with the dead and dying.  part of it is dealing with facing your own mortality.  Sometimes its the only way to get thru a case without breaking down.  And let me tell you - crying into a patient on the operating table really really breaks your sterile technique.  So we joke and laugh and keep doing our jobs.

No, they can use the other parts but I do know the corpse can't have transferrable diseases..........HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis etc. They are tested for such diseases & refused if tested positive.

Luckily I quit donating when my vein collapsed from too many donating (was supplementing my income with donating).
