You know the worst thing about lactose intolerance - missing out of ice cream and... sausage gravy.  sigh.

It's okay though.  The trick with diets is, if you are craving something, have a little, instead of sitting there craving it for weeks.  If you nip it in the bud right away, a little will suffice.  If you wait, you'll eat a ton of whatever it is, and that's where the trouble comes in.

I admit, I teach that at work, but still get caught doing the opposite more often than I'd like to admit.

EDIT:  Oh man!  I admit that I don't know if I could survive if I were lactose intolerant.

ok, when was the last time you sat down and ate a little biscuits and gravy? especially home made? cause you can't forget the drizzle of pure maple syrup on top of the biscuits and gravy either....

oh and don't get me started on maple syrup and cornbread...

In the good way, of course.

I admit that I know how Sunny feels.

I admit that I don't have it quite as bad as lactose intolerance, but having to constantly explain that I'm NOT lactose intolerant, I'm allergic to it makes up for the difference.

I admit that it sucks royally.

I admit that, since I'm in training all this week, I'm still goin' out and buying a pint of Ben & Jerry's.

I admit that Kali should come for a visit since I make wonderful sausage gravey and biscuits.  No bisquick for me, I can not stand that stuff.  Just baking powder biscuits.

I also admit that I have heard about fried chicken and waffles but I just cannot get my head around how you are supposed to eat it.  It would be something to try if there was someone around that knew how it was supposed to be eated.

I admit that I am not sure if I will be fixing anything more complicated today than tomato soup and grilled cheese sammies.  Unless Kali comes for a visit of course.

I admit that I dislike it when people disparage the field that I work in.  I admit that I have NEVER worked for, or even come across, a doctor that takes kickbacks from anyone.  I admit that there are corrupt doctors, as there are corrupt people in any profession, but I don't know any.  I admit that I think it is sad that the people I know that go above and beyond for their patients are painted with the broad brush of greed and lack of ethics.

I admit that I love Aqua's new descriptor.

Hello Yum Bum,
I feel the same way about how therapists are portrayed on television.  It's like we are all unethical and sleeping with clients.  I don't know any therapists like that.

sunshine

ooo and on topic.  I admit that I have never before listened to Free Bird (that I knew about) until Holly put a link up on the 70's thread.

I admit that I am the one who started that, and do know a number like that unfortunately, and it was only aimed at them.  I never did say "all", just the bad ones.  Alas, there seem to be a good many of them.

I wasn't really paying attention to who said what, I just saw "in cahoots with the drug companies" and then "kickbacks."  Most psychiatrists I know see the drug reps (who are the contact point) as a necessary evil.  And the ability to give patients a couple of weeks of free samples to see if a drug is going to work for them, before they pay a drug copay or an expensive drug deductible, seems to contribute to good patient care, not detract from it.

Further, most psychs I know will NOT prescribe the latest drugs, because it takes a while for drugs to get on the covered drug list for the insurance plans.  Why prescribe a drug you know the patient cannot afford?  If it's a new drug of its kind, with no other good alternatives (for instance, some of the more recent drugs for alzheimers and psychotic episodes), then they give the patient the full information and let the patient decide (because, after all, unless they're locked up in a hospital, no one can force them to take a drug).

The last time we did an internal compilation of data, we found that well over half of our patients (I'm trying to remember the exact number, but I cannot), were on older drugs that were available in generic form, and that cost less than $25 per month to the patient with no insurance whatsoever.  Some, such as prozac, cost as little as $9.50 for a month's supply.

In the last five years, drug companies have GREATLY relaxed their requirements for their patient assistance programs, so that more people can get the medication they need free of charge.

Whew.  Now I'm gonna climb down off my soapbox before I get a nosebleed.

Cali

I admit that I had waffles and ice cream for breakfast, and shared a pound of bacon.

I admit that I am about to go into a bacon coma.

I admit that I regret nothing.

i admit i am the one who made the comment about the psychiatrists and drug companies.

i admit it was meant as a jest and not to mean that was how i felt at all.

i admit looking back it was a jest in bad taste.

i admit i am sorry.

i admit i should not be online when i have had minimal sleep.
