I admit I just averaged the number of hrs sleep I have gotten for the past 4 nights.

I admit it amounts to 3 hrs p/night.

I admit this explains a LOT.

I admit I am sending hugs to mg. (even though the gas mask kinda freaks me out *grin*)

I admit that, given your track-record of late, I'd so wish you wouldn't :)

Or are you trying to deliberately doom us?

I admit this made me chuckle :)

I admit I'm also sending "get well" vibes to Red's Dad.

I admit I'm feeling more chipper and completely un-hungover this morning.

I admit this is a minor miracle given how much beer I quaffed last night :)

I admit I just had a longish (for me) IM with an old friend from Calif. who will be here in a few weeks for work.

I admit that while I do consider him a friend (he has been there for me at the most awkward of times, and expected no recompense) , I have a love/hate thing going with him.

I admit that I believe that it is mutual.

I admit that I am looking forward to seeing him.

I admit that I agree.. on both counts.

I admit that, granted, I DO get an hour or 2 (I think) more sleep in the afternoons before I go to work.. but still....

i admit, the question i'm going to ask is a bit odd. but i don't like beer, don't drink beer.

i want to try making a "spiced beer jelly" (as in jam, not jello for those across the other pond). problem is, what kind of beer is best for this:

"3 cups 2 ounces dark beer (that equates to exactly 2 x 341mL bottles ~ we used a Wellington Pale Ale, an amber, full flavoured beer from a Canadian micro brewery located in Guelph. Fabulous beer…they do have a dark ale which we will try next time…it may even make this jelly better…is that possible?)"

i admit openly, i'm not in canada :) i don't think i can get canadian beer or ale here. what do i need to be looking for in regards to flavour or anything else i can ask the bottle-shop attendants??

the spices included are cinnamon and cardamom, but the pectin is whole apple based (boiled down apple mash), and there is lemon and orange juice in the ingredients as well.

Do you know what the root cause is? I.e. has it been looked into by a doctor/psychologist?

If you want darker and richer, you want a strong, real-ale based bottled beer, I would think. A porter* would probably do the trick (although Porters aren't usually that strong, as they were "working beers"), but I'm not sure how bitter or sweet you need it to be; presumably you're adding quite a bit of sugar too, so the beer being bitter isn't an issue?

If so, something like Fullers London Porter would probably be right up your street and first on the left:

http://www.fullers.co.uk/rte.asp?id=63

If you need something slightly less dark and bitter, then a malty ale would probably serve you well, like Old Crafty Hen (Old Speckled Hen has been toned down a bit for the mass market, so it's not as strong as it was, and thus not quite as sweet or malty anymore, but they've got the "supercharged" version back as Old Crafty Hen now):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Speckled_Hen#Old_Crafty_Hen

Alternatively, tell me what you can get hold of, and I'll tell you what it's like.

*very dark, but quite bitter, style of ale

True, i did not read back far enough to see that GT was having that issue. But generally a small nap can be a real stress buster.

Angel.. maybe guiness?

RF..   I think much of it is stress related.  I cant afford to go to a doc for anything unless it is a dire emergency, let alone for diagnostic testing.

I admit that I got an email from someone today that I have been trying to gently put off for ages.

I admit he wanted to move to YIM.

I admit that my response was: "

I dont use yahoo.  besides, given my answers, one would think you would have picked up on I was being (at least marginally) polite, without showing any real interest.

now suddenly, he is claiming that he never was interested in anything beyond friendship..completely sidestepping the fact that when I pointed out that our views diverged on the subject of submission (in how it applies or doesn't, to me) his response was that I need a 'teacher'.

granted, he didnt flat out say HE would be so generous to 'teach' me..but...

RE: naps..

given my avg. nighttime sleep, and my work schedule.. naps are a must if I dont want to fall asleep at the job.

RF. my sleep patterns have been so screwed up for so long that I'm pretty sure that what I do now is considered NORMAL to my body  (even if my brain disagrees)

i live in far northern new south wales, aus, now. a small town, probably not too many english beers, lagers, etc. in stock.

the recipe calls for a large quantity of sugar:
* 1 3/4 pounds Granny Smith apples
* 3 cups 2 ounces water
* 5 1/4 cups granulated sugar
* Juice of 1 small lemon
* Zest of 1 orange finely grated
* 2 sticks of cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

here's a sampling of beers. sorry, probably a bit more effort than you anticipated, lol

http://www.coopers.com.au/#/the-order/the-hall-of-beer
http://www.australianbeers.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_in_Australia

greedy, guiness was my first thought too, specially as i was having a pub lunch in an irish named pub at the time. my other thought was cider (strongbow is the more common label around here), but considering the pectin is extracted from apples, i thought it might end up more an apple butter than beer jelly!

Is there an Aussie equivalent to Guiness?

fosters, you poor thing. not a good representation, specially if you didn't get it from here.

and now you see my problem! i don't know any beer drinkers off hand, i drink not very much and not beers at all.

lol, if rapier hasn't any ideas i'll be forced to charmingly accost some beer drinking aussie and ask his opinion. i suppose it's ONE way of meeting people in a strange town!!
