I admit, my car REALLY hates me. I admit I spent about an hour trying to change the sparkplug wires. got the 3 on the drivers side done, and since I suspect that was where the problem would be, I tried starting the car (it SEEMS a little better, but that could just be wishful thinking). When I tried to turn the car off, the key would NOT turn. Oh sure, it would turn forward (and make that awful metallic screechy sound, since the engine was already running...) but it would not turn to the off position. Off to the garage I go... 2+ hrs there (I was a drop in, so they squeezed me in, but they did have other vehicles already in progress...), and the verdict is: "cost-wise, it would cost as much to replace the ignition as it would to replace the steering column. it's easier to replace the column". My reply: can ya just break it out and I'll use a screwdriver to start the damned thing? So they did (although, unlike the saturn I had to do that with, I need needlenose pliers rather than a screwdriver). $25.00. fucking car. ETA: tomorrow, I'll replace the other 3 plug wires...
