I admit- glad to hear that D.C.!
I admit we took a boring snow day. How is everyone weathering Storm Stella?

It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. We didn't lose power, thankfully, so that made it tolerable. I always have such grand plans when I take an unexpected vacation day due to weather. You know, clean out the fridge, bake muffins, simmer something on the stove for hours, organize my junk drawers, etc. Reality: I slept late and then, after an optimistic breakfast, was glued to the couch until 3:00.

The roads around here were fantastic, though. They really kept up well.

Yah- I have the same plans. Clean all the things, bake five different recipes, and find time to go through my clothes. But alas...we did a bunch of nothing. Roads were awful here. Our sidewalk is still unplowed in fact (which I realize sounds so first world problem- but with a 1 year old high energy dog- you have no idea how critical it is)

I admit that the best possible thing to be done to improve the universe as a whole would be a near extinction level event occurring on this rock, or God pulling another Sodom and Gomorrah operation on a world wide scale.

You have too much dark energy. Lighten up.

If your opinion had any value whatsoever, I might consider it.

Well why don't you go talk to a counselor and tell them your thoughts and get a professional opinion. You don't happen to be the same guy who ordered all that fertilizer and stuff i hope.

As I said, if your opinion mattered, and considering some of the bullshit you have raised with others, it doesnt.

And yes, I was the one that bought the fertilizer and diesel.

And hey, I will give you more fuel for your bullshit....

I am a gun owner, a survivalist (aka prepper,) ex military trained as a sniper, use of and improvising explosives, and as of delivery today, probably own enough ammo to keep a rifle platoon well supplied in a hostile area for a month or more.

I am a combat vet with PTSD who would rather spend time with my dogs and horses than people. The reason is simple, humans lie. Humans praise some deity and profess to follow some belief that stands for peace on earth and good will toward men, when they actually mean good will toward White Anglo European Christians.

And I do see a therapist once a week, and she seems to feel that my general opinion about humanity is, in some respects, warranted and due to personal experience and events witnessed first hand.

Consider this:

In 1994 I worked for an International Security firm providing armed security for World Health Organization field units in various parts of the world. In Africa I got to witness people of the same faith killing each other because of the tribe they belonged to.

How would you like to pull into a village with a bunch of medical people and find the village chapel filled with corpses, and then the translator explains they were murdered by a neighboring tribe for being the wrong tribe, and the reason they were in the church was because the people that killed them felt that as Christians, they were entitled to make their peace with god before being killed.

Or, how would you like to have been at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta Georgia at 1:20 AM to witness a pipe bomb going off, set by a good Christian man by the name of Eric Rudolf.

Of course while in the army I got to see first hand how Israelis deal with anyone they deem as a threat. Refugee camps blasted to hell, men, women and children all because some one fired some Katyusha rockets from nearby and logically, they had to be hiding in the camp.

Or how about this number, 225000 total Iraqi NONCOMBATANTS killed during the US led coalition occupation of Iraq?

You can add another 191000 killed since we left due to the fact that no body in that region has ever gotten along for any length of time.

Then you have the recent announcement by our esteemed president that he has lifted the restrictions for drone and air strikes that Obama had the military operating under to minimize civilian casualties.

Great way to win the hearts and minds of Muslims, blow their families away so they run willingly to the guys who are preaching the gospel of death to all Americans.

And I have a lot of negative energy?

Christ bitch, the world is full of it, and there are people who willingly preach it as gospel, attacking anyone that disagrees with their assertions about a people they have never met.

As long as hate is met with hate, there is no way anyone on this planet can even dream of peace.

So, after a long life of trying to help my fellow man, I have reached a point where if the shit hit the fan tomorrow, I will take care of my family and the rest of you mother fuckers can starve or die in manners as dictated by God or fate, it is because I have grown tired of trying to give a fuck.

I own a total of 24 firearms, two of which are NFA license full auto, one belt fed and one magazine fed. I have probably 250k rounds of ammo of various calibers, food stockpiled that will keep my family going without having to forage for 36 months and a nicely renovated cold war era SAC com bunker/SAM launch control building that was designed to take a near miss from a nominal yield nuke.

And if the shit hits the fan, the only aid I will consider giving my fellow man is a one way ticket to the promised land.

Hamas routinely placed their rocket launchers in hospitals, schools, refugee camps believing that Israel would be too worried about world opinion to fire back.

Perhaps you missed that?

Oh no, I am well aware of that fact, anyone that has not been hiding under a rock since 1948 is aware of that fact.

I am also well aware of the fact that had Israel gave a shit about people they could have easily used their spec op teams to get in and deal with the threat and minimize non combatant casualties.

It is the opinion of even the Spetz Natz (Russian Special Forces) that the Israeli spec op forces are the best in the world.

My point in my statement is that my opinion about the human race in general is very well justified since the wanton act of taking lives by individuals as well as governments for no other reason that it is expedient is more than justified.

And in the situation I described, the Israeli forces had already taken out the fucking rocket launcher some hours prior to their aircraft hitting the refugee camp.

The attack was simply due to the fact that the refugee camp was a possible hiding place for the crew that fired those rockets, along with two Lebanese villages in the area.

I am also aware that our current president rescinded the rules of engagement that were not Obama's but Bush's concerning the use of drones and other air strikes to minimize civilian casualties.

And the funny thing about 500 pound general purpose high explosive bombs, the blast wave will kill you just as fast as the fire, shrapnel, the only difference is that it does not leave a mark and sometimes you get to lie around screaming in pain for a while before you die of massive internal injuries.

How would YOU like to carry a five year old little girl to an evac chopper who is screaming and knowing anything you do it ease her pain will kill her?

I never intended it to be political, however, after someone who has no clue as to why I made the original statement decided to criticize me and suggest therapy, I felt that the basis for my statement was justified.

Nor was my answer political in nature, it was a basic commentary on the world today, and the majority of the people in it.

Finally, am I truly the only one that seems to feel that when even the local news stations lead with a story that is related to some act of violence, abuse or some other sickening example of the worst of human nature that the over all opinion of humanity does not drop?

When was the last time you picked up a paper and the main headline was something uplifting, or the local news did not lead with a murder, assault, shooting, or some other crime?

IF any thing good or anyone does something decent that is newsworthy, it is buried somewhere in the paper or gets 30 seconds of video on the news.

Christ, I live well outside of town about half mile from where I grew up. I have to lock the doors at night, when it was no big deal when I was growing up not to, I cant let my grandson or great nephew walk down to get the mail, something I was doing at age six, and when someone knocks on the door late at night, I have a loaded pistol handy just in case.

And all because people today, or a large enough percentage of them, are making it harder for those who grew up believing there is good in the world to keep that outlook.

Two weeks ago, I and six other members of my parish replaced the door to the parsonage where the priests live because someone kicked it in during an evening mass and stole a bunch of stuff ranging from laptops to a bible that had been in the parish for 90 years.

Locally churches have been burglarized, three clinics have been robbed at gun point, and a religious book store was broken into.

Then a middle aged woman cussing some kid for grabbing the last can of some particular brand of coffee is just icing on the cake.

Humanity has changed, and not for the better.

As for the morning of the 16th when I posted the original statement, I had just gotten a call informing me that my favorite aunt was in critical condition after being mugged and her car stolen, funny thing is that she is a nun and had just dropped off some food for a parish member in her town who was laid up after surgery.

And thus, I repeat my previous statement, the world is full of negative energy, from governments down to people. And when you cant voice what you are feeling in a thread that is, or I thought was established for just that reason, without getting crap for it, someone is going to get both feet up their ass.

Aw, enjoy it. My Siamese cat did that all the time, and since she's been gone, my other, non-social, demented, broken cat barely stays in the same room with me. I miss having a desktop companion. :(

I admit that with all the cock ups made with naff coding in the forums, I do wish one of the things they had done was add the Facebook 'Like' buttons to comments.

I admit that today is a 17 year anniversary, and it's just as tough today as the first one

I admit that I wish I didn't have to wish for the rain and dark just so that I'd real easier, but also means I don't get to enjoy my garden.

I admit that I had a good day yesterday with a friend, and it didn't matter that we got wet.
