No idea, sorry. Hope life is treating you well!

Hi dc.  Yup.  No major complaints right now, but have been pretty busy lately.

I believe so. I've been asked to remove such embedded use, and use just a link to the content.

Real0ne -> RE: Is it against the TOS to ... (5/10/2007 7:39:09 PM)

try it and you will get a love letter!  :)

its to bad cm doesnt have an image database that once linked cant be changed, the problem is that you can put up a different pic at a later date like porn or an advertisement.

dcnovice -> RE: Is it against the TOS to ... (5/10/2007 7:44:46 PM)

There were images in post 56 on the When to Let Go thread, and they got removed.

domiguy -> RE: Is it against the TOS to ... (5/10/2007 7:58:18 PM)

There sure were...You would think whomever is posing those images would wise up....Wouldn't want mod11 on my ass...Some people are just to dumb to read the tos...I pity those fools.

CuriousLord -> RE: Is it against the TOS to ... (5/10/2007 8:02:48 PM)

Mod 11 sent me a "love letter", threatening me for having called someone a "troll".  I'm pretty damn sure she has a post she sticky'd at the top of the forum, that she wrote, calling someone a troll.  *Grumbles.*

FirmhandKY -> RE: Is it against the TOS to ... (5/10/2007 8:32:37 PM)

The reason I ask ...

Is that I find nothing in the TOS, or any forum guidelines that say images can't be embedded.  And, in reality, I'm not sure why they should be forbidden.

There are three reasons to not allow them:

1.  Copyright issues,
2.  Bandwidth (or bandwidth thievery) issues, and
3.  Excessive loading times

Item 1 is pretty self explanatory.  Make sure you have permission, or you created the image yourself.  Not much different than the photos on the profiles.

Item 2 is easy to police: don't allow direct linking, but allow linking for image storage sites designed for just this sort of thing.

Item 3 is pretty easy to address as well.  Don't allow sig images, and limit images in a post to a max of one or two.  And limit the size of any single image.

So ... I don't see anything written that forbids posting an image ... But I've also received a "love letter" when I posted some images (pictures of dots, for god sakes!).

But ... I also see a fair number of people who post images, and they are never removed.

So, I guess my underlying question is ... why the uneven enforcement ... of a rule that doesn't even seem to exist?

I remember those! It was a cool activity about thinking outside the box.

domiguy -> RE: Is it against the TOS to ... (5/10/2007 8:36:41 PM)

I think if you read the TOS carefully there is a little part that prohibits posting pics of "Frank & Beans."....lol.

ModeratorEleven -> RE: Is it against the TOS to ... (5/10/2007 8:37:30 PM)

There isn't uneven enforcement, we pull all the images we see posted.  Some slip by because we're only human beings.  Feel free to report any that you see and we can try to nip that perception of uneven enforcement in the bud.

Since it doesn't appear that the forum guidelines have been updated since the owners decided to put that rule into place, I've just fixed that.  Thank you for your concern.

Do you mind me asking the reason for the rule?

ModeratorEleven -> RE: Is it against the TOS to ... (5/10/2007 8:43:02 PM)

Not at all.  Because that's the way the site owners want it.

I understand, and will abide by their rules and edicts.  No complaining, but curiosity.  It's not a major issue.

But, the owners of CM, like all business people, generally make decisions about how their product will be used, and appear, based on sound business reasons.  I won't argue with their decisions - they are their decisions to make.

But, "cause they said so", while a valid reason, isn't a valid explanation or justification.

It's ok if you - or they - choose not to give an explanation.  Again, there is nothing that requires it, other than a desire to maintain a sense of community and to appear reasonable, and customer focused to the end users.

So ... just asking.

Thank you for your responses, Mod 11.  I'm not trying to be combative, just scratching an itch.

I've served in the military caitlyn, thank you.  I've learned to "be submissive" already, when required in the short term.  [:D]

FirmKY

PS.  " ... every good dom ... "   Does this mean you recognize my great domliness?  [:D]
