I just can't bear the responsiblities of starting another thread and just to see it cling to lfe for several days and then pass on....I have always felt that I would rather go first then to  feel the agony and  utter despair and loss of watching the very thing that I have brought into this world and breathed life into die such a miserable and lonely death.....I will start no more threads forever.

But I will gladly criticize others who do....Odd isn't it?

i already have a lot of empathy for and appreciation of those who start threads and are willing to "put themselves out there," risking ridicule.  After seeing that happen so very often, i'm just not that eager to do it myself.  As someone else stated somewhere here on the forums today, if i have a personal problem or dilemma i'm going to discuss it with important people in my life or perhaps with someone whose opinion i respect here BUT via a private message, not on the forums.  i have exchanged messages quite frequently with a handful of folks from the forums and have been wonderfully surprised at their genuine sincerity, kindness, and helpful advice.  We have discussed, though, that if the things we said had been said before certain others on the forums, that we would have probably been insulted and nothing positive would have ensued.

i think, for me, that's exactly why i don't start many threads and certainly not personal ones.  It shouldn't have to be a matter of "sticking your neck out" to start a discussion.  i have never once started up a conversation in "real life" with the full awareness that it may very well devolve into a fight or a pissing contest.  i just don't engage people like that.  Here, where so many different people congregate, no matter what you say or how you say it, someone will invariably have a problem with you or your opinon.  i think we all, at one time or a hundred, have responded to something we disagree with.  That's the nature of these discussion forums.  But, to me, it's just not worth the energy to start a thread and then defend, defend, defend myself to virtual strangers.  i don't judge those who start threads.  As i said, i appreciate their posts and admire their courage.  i very, very rarely ever have a bad word to say to an OP.  i usually find my harshest feelings/words reserved for the ones who attack the OP somewhere on down through the thread.  This is due to what you said above that it does take courage to "stick one's neck out."  So.....thanks to you guys who post sincere, well-thought out questions/topics.  It's truly what keeps the forums rolling along[:)]slave luci
