What causes the vagina to have that natural musty scent? I know each vagina is diffrent, and so is each smell but on general.

And before any body says it's cause she's dirty, All vagina's have a natural scent, a normal scent isn't nasty bad dirty ect ect.

Also can those who aren't as prompt in bathing after intercourse as they should be get yeast infections.

PS nobody say that douching is good for you or any of that crap about douching, because actually it's being proven more and more douching does more disturbance and harm than good. It disrupts the natural ph of the body and can actually distroy good bacteria, and let bad ones like vaginitus grow.

There's a lot of myths and mis informations about female health and stuff, so it's not always easy to know the real info from the fake.

There is all kinds of things going on in a vagina. Just check a womans' panties to see that. And a healthy vagina will have a smell. That is normal. I would think that if it smells bad to you, and you can smell it a mile away, or with clothes on, there could be a problem. Otherwise relax.
As for intercourse, as I understand it, the sperm is absorbed into the vaginal walls so it shouldn't cause yeast infections, but I am sure there are women who know about that more than I do.

Semen does not cause yeast infections. The vagina is self cleansing. You are correct that douching is not a good practice. It does disrupt the natural ph and can destroy the good bacteria. Those good bacteria live on yeast. All of our bodies (both men and women) have some level of yeast all of the time. It is when our levels of good bacteria for one reason or another become too low, thus resulting in an overgrowth of yeast. We commonly refer to this condition as a yeast infection, although it is not an infection in the same sense as one caused by bacteria or viruses. That is why antibiotics will frequently cause a yeast infection rather than kill one. Antibiotics kill bacteria, they do not differentiate between good and bad bacteria, they simply kill them all. So the good die along with the bad, allowing the yeast to overgrow.

We all have our own natural scent. It is dependent upon many factors such as our personal makeup and diet. This scent should not be offensive. If there is a foul odor there is generally an underlying cause. The vagina should not have a strong odor. If you experience such it is best to have it checked out as it is most likely a bacterial infection of some sort or worse. For example: You sometimes hear people talking about women having a "fishy" odor. That is a sure sign of an infection called Gardnerella that is sexually transmittable. We are women, we should not smell like fish.

Yes, I agree there is a lot of misinformation out there regarding women's health issues. I spent a few years working for a gynecologist and it always amazed me how very little women sometimes knew about their own bodies. For some reason women are still quite embarassed about talking about such things with their health care providers.

I usualy don't smell horrible, when I am aroused it's a really strong scent and a musky one, and after sex I hate the smell but normally usualy it's musty but tolerable. I re read my post and it sounds like I am saying sex causes yeast if you don't bathe. I ment it to ask that can not cleaning up like have sex a 12 and not bath till night time cause problems.

E String, I can smell myself on my undies after wearing them but I suppose that's just natural cause they're right up on me. But other than that thankfully no, I'm not smellable through clothing:P

I think he was just saying a mile away as a descriptor, not that he can smell them a mile away or nothing.

I don't think that not bathing (as in bathing every other day or so) immediately after intercourse would cause an infection, yeast or otherwise. Already mentioned is the fact that the vagina is self cleaning.

I know what he was saying BUT I also know Estring. Most of the regular's are gone and there are far too many people to give him a hard time.

Hehe.

Okay Gloria, I actually meant a half mile away. Lol. Good to hear from you again.
When I was married, my ex-wife got a bladder infection from having a ton of sex in a short period of time. The doctor called it The Honeymooners Disease, I forget the scientific name. My slave tells me that it is recommended that a woman should go pee after intercourse to keep from getting that kind of infection.
Feline, the smell of an aroused females' vagina is one of the best scents around in my opinion. I would suggest if you are not sure of how you smell, maybe ask someone who has smelled you.

Its not so much as too much sex causes the infection but can make it more probable!
We have bacteria that is normal to the bowel and during a good sex session if aim is a little off or hands go near ass and then to vagina transfer of the little blighters is possible thus causing a UTI. Some are more prone to this so good hygiene is an idea.

Each vagina has its own smell but I have in my limited experience noticed that often dark haired people have a muskier smell to fair haired and redheads can be more ironish any experts who can elaborate on this?

That is interesting that you notice darker hair smells mustier.

E I think I will do that. Ask someone who's had experince in my scent.

Urination after sex can help prevent UTI's but if it's gonna happen it's gonna happen. I've seen info that says the harder ruffer more virgorious the sex is, the more likly the case of a UTI is. I've had good hard sex gone pee and been very sorry I pee'd at all it burned from the irritation lol.

I've smelled both, actually. Obviously, if I can smell it from a distance, it has to be strong, but a strong vagina smell isn't necessarily bad.

When it's a menstruation smell, on the other hand, it's a little unpleasant...

Good vaginal scents can be smelt through clothing and a distance. Some people can just have a very strong natural odour. Arousel and certain times of the month can make the smell alter.

Smoking, or being in an atmosphere of smoking(passive) can also alter the scent.

Strong foods such as garlic, onion, herbs, spices etc will travel into vaginal sectretions, cum and mothers milk.

Thrush and bladder infection can also be caused by the wrong kind of washing liquid or conditioner in clothes washing. Biolgical products are the most common liquid to cause negative effects. Bubble baths, femine deos, talc, shower gels and soaps can also cause negative effects and aid thrush development. Insertion of foreign objects can also effect(dildos, vibes, and especially fruit because it upsets the balance)

Vaginal gels can also be a problem. A person might have an unknown allergy - like I found out when I have my first child and they checked cervix dilation - the regular vaginal gel they used gave me a massive allergic reaction even though they commenly used it during labours and cervical proceedures.

Musty smells are fine - strong is fine. But fishy smells are a big worry - and if it just doesn't smell right or makes you feel unwell - then best get it checked.

And always remember to have regular cervical smears - I can't stress that enough - and always check your breasts!

Damn - I sound like 'Ask Angel'....

Peace and Love

Thank you for the detailed reply Angel.

I do know about the soaps and deoderants and stuff interfearing with normal behaviors of the vagina, I am really sensitive to most soaps so I can not soap the vagina with just anything, at one point it got so bad I got cetaphil. A non soap cleanser, that cleaned me up but didn't hurt my vagina. And my gyyno said not to use scents and poweders in the vaginal area because it could incurage bacterial growth.

I used to worry about my smell so much and freshness I would put baby powder in my panties but I was told that's not a good idea. And two It just makes clean up harder.

Hey there Estring...
I've missed reading your posts too, you've not been around much; I remember getting a lot of great input a lil while back (at my very timid beginning on collarme).
Half a mile away might still be slightly too strong a scent to be had on a vagina, but as long as you enjoy it, it's all good, lol.

Intercourse generally doesn't cause yeast infections...
For me, what has prompted yeast infections in the past is prolonged intercourse causes too much friction, and that can increase chance of yeast infection happening. M

Every female is different. The natural feramones released by both create a "smell" sometimes it in harmony with each other, sometimes not.. and Thats ok.
We are all different. The smell and taste of a female changes as to diet and meds he maybe on but so does the male.
Some females who have a yeast problem or do not shower regularly have lots of smells to them as well some coming from the pussy some not. Just as a woman does not like my smell if I am working. so to I feel she nees to be clean and "good" smelling.

One of my hardlimits is that I seek a girl who "tastes and smells good" to ME. Does she taste and smell good to another perhaps perhaps not. It has to be the same for her that I "fit" tastewise to her.
Its a individual thing that I will either like or not, and thats ok.
To walk next to a girl in "heat" is way nice. As she knows what she is feeling if only on a subconcious level.
