The ONLY safe sex is NO SEX. Its 100% guarnteed to NOT end in pregnancy, or an STD, or anything else communicable; that means, NO oral, anal, vaginal, 'dry sex' or any combination thereof. Keep the clothes on if you want to be truely 'safe.'

DreamyLadySnow -> RE: Unprotected Sex (6/22/2007 7:57:39 PM)

The HPV vaccination works just as well on males as on females. It's just that they don't get cervical cancer, so no one's pushing for them to get the vaccine. So they spread an sti, who cares? Love the double standard.

I was just wondering how many people here will admit to having unprotected
sex?

I have unprotected sex every day and I don't worry about STDs or HIV at all.

Agreed.
But some people use that as a justification for sexual practices that are manifestly UNsafe
It's a bit like saying, life is dangerous, so it doesn't really matter if I smoke/take drugs/drink to excess/insert excuse here

my Master and i have unprotected sex, obviously, but i am on birth control (pill). when he has intercourse with other women, he uses condoms. when he has me used by other men, sometimes protection is used, sometimes not, it depends on the person and the relationship he has with them. it's not my place to question either way. we both have full std screenings every 3-4 months.

That's trust.. I'll give you that much.

Will not happen here, personally (respectively).. but I have this.. overwhelming desire to live and see my son grow up.

Kudos to you both for the frequent testing - although keep in mind some STDs can slip through the cracks (no pun) and even worse, some of them aren't going to show up on a standard test at all (ex: HPV)

Hello, A/all.

Well, nothing in this life is completely safe. You arent 100% safe when You take the car, not when walk for a street in a big city, nor when You buy a hamburguer... In sex, there is no absolute safety either. I am not recomended a unprotected sex, but what is clear is that there is safer practices than others... Oral sex is almost safe,,,,if some kind is,,,,please read:

That is false:    all STDs  excepet HIV can be contracted orally  .  it has never been proved or disproved with HIV yet  and having HPV or Chlamidia will make you 5 times more likely to contract HIV.

Another interesting point to not is that a lot of diseases can be contracted sexually that are not STDs, like for instance Meningitis, this can be  transfered sexually as can other non STDs ..  if you want to bury your head in the sand go ahead, but i'd rather know all the dangers, might not stop me but at least I know what could happen and what I'm risking...

Just my opinion

I saw this same link in another thread. The response isn't regarding oral sex in general, but cunnilingus in particular. It may be lower risk than fellatio, but it isn't without risk. To say that oral sex is almost safe isn't realistic.

DeviantlyD -> RE: Unprotected Sex (6/22/2007 11:48:02 PM)

Not meaning to quibble, but if it's transmitted sexually, it's an STD. :)

asubmissiveheart -> RE: Unprotected Sex (6/23/2007 6:29:07 AM)

I am glad to see this thread went 3 pages.  I did not expect so many responses.
Evidently, this is a topic that needed to be discussed.

I think they're working on a secondary fluid test (blood, urine, not completely sure though). There is a working vaccine that appears to be having good results.

I would love to see one test, that would test for every std.
What vaccine are you referring to?

These responses are about what I would expect. It's a similar reaction to those I got from swingers. And it's precisely why we never have unprotected sex with anyone any more, except with each other within our marriage. There are so many people playing russian roulette out there, I am continually gobsmacked by it, but it affirms for me the fact that we are not wasting our time playing it safe. People who are into BDSM are taking even greater risks than those in the vanilla population. I respect other people's right to do exactly as they please, and really appreciate this opportunity to get an insight into the way other people think
:))

I think a lot of the posters here are swingers.
I also think a lot of the swingers are not posting on this thread.
I agree that many people are playing russian roulette with their health, whether
they admit it or not on these boards.

I do not have to agree with your choice to respect it. You are obviously an adult and capable of making choices appropriate for you.... If you are content with his choices and accept that they may involve significant risk then it is no ones place to force a different view on you....not mine...or anyone elses.

kittinSol -> RE: Unprotected Sex (6/23/2007 7:01:54 AM)

proudsub, you are talking about Gardasil. It's a vaccine against the human papillomavirus types 6, 11, which are responsible for 90% of genital warts infections, and types 16 and 18, which cause around 80% of cervical cancer and other cell abnormalities. Cervical cancer is the second biggest cancer killer of women around the world (approx. 300,000 women die from it each year [&o]).

Gardasil is manufacted for young women aged 9 to 26. There is little point in offering the vaccine to older women because the probability that they have already been exposed to the virus are large. Unless they've lived in a nunnery :-)

What I worry about is that in the States at least, many people will object to their daughters getting the vaccine because it is linked to the causes of cervical cancer and warts, that is, sex. I worry a lot of people are in a state of utter denial concerning young women's sexuality. But hopefully I'm wrong. We'll have to wait and see.

zindyslave -> RE: Unprotected Sex (6/23/2007 8:05:30 AM)

I wanted to add this about the vaccine for HPV. Would anyone with UMs willing concent to giving them the HPV vaccine? I would, but that could be because I was sexually active at a young age.

I wasn't talking about the vaccine, i was talking about the new test for HPV as i mentioned on post 38 of this thread:

http://www.thehpvtest.com/

I do think the vaccine is wonderful but shouldn't give anyone a false sense of safety against STDs.  I wish i had been able to get it when younger then i might not of contracted HPV and had to go through several unpleasant procedures and expense to prevent cancer from developing.

As for the HPV test, i think it would be wise for sexually active women to request it when they have their paps.

Yes i certainly would. My daughters are adults so they will have to make that decision themselves but i would encourage them to get it.

zindyslave -> RE: Unprotected Sex (6/23/2007 8:27:11 AM)

What if your UMs were teenagers or around the age that is approved for the vaccine as stated earlier. I would think I would get it for them maybe not that young but not long after that just for their protection. Maybe I am wrong in this but it is my view on it.

Yes i would have them get vaccinated.
