I would suggest getting to know your local toy maker and seeing what they have available and see what you like and dislike before spending a lot of money either at a site or ebay. Once you find out what you like and what kind of handle your Master prefers, then you can start to look for the best flogger for both of you. Why settle for something made for somebody and their specifications when you are going to be using it for half a lifetime or more?

One thing he is not telling you is he makes EXCELLENT toys. Some of my favorite toys have been purchased through him on auction sites.

Hi ya A/all,
My Master and i adore Cecilia Wian's leather floggers. Shes local to the Pacific Northwest. We have purchased an Elk,Moose and Deer floggers from her in our specs, colour choices and length of the tails. I gave them to Him on some special occassions and He couldn;t be more pleased. For those of you paying cash can do in payments or CC,she will let know. As added bonus if you are a repeat customer she will give a discount on future purchases. I recommend her very highly web addy is wian-studios.com Nice pictures on the web addy. Enjoy!!! Thought I would add my 2 cents as well. In the end its everyones personal choice on who is there favourite maker. I would ALSO stand by previous statements that you should go to a munch, event ask a friend etc. and really see the item up close before you spend the money.
Cheers

Well I like thud and sting. So what kind of a tip would you reccommend?

I highly recommend trying a beaded flogger if you like to feel sting and thud. Depending on the beads used you can get a scratchy sensation going too. They may look a little intimidating but like many toys they aren't as wicked as they seem.

BEST is to go to a local EVENT where venders are there and try and feel them before you buy

Go to HappyTails.com These people make not only the best looking but they use the most variety of leathers I have found anywhere. The diffent types of skins all have a different feel when they land. I also find that they have great balance in the handles.

We bought our from them at live events. We even had one made for us to our specifications. They made the handle size and weight just to my Doms hand. It makes a big different.

If you're really a fan of the heavy sting, you may want to try a 2 ft latigo tipped legree whip. (short, easy to control single tail) http://www.mr-s-leather.com/cgi-bin/mr-s/W81.html

I adore my Legree, but then again, it's not a flogger but a single-tailed whip.

I own at least a few of all of the above maker's implements and have used them hard for YEARS without undue wear or strain on the materials or craftsmanship.

I'll also recommend:
MT Leather Products
http://www.mtleather.com

I do strongly suggest that you get out from behind the computer and go to an event near you (or not near you if you're concerned with running into people you might know), and check out their vending area. If you let us know where geographically you are, I might be able to connect you with a worthwhile event where you can find good quality merchandise and a vendor who will take the time to help you make a choice that's right for you. And nothing will take the place of practice and lots of experience in handling the flogger!

No offense but the floggers on that site are nothing special, they might be a good deal around a $50 to $75 range.. And definately the claims on the front page are over exaggerated by a whole bunch!

i have been less and less impressed with the product leather byrd has been putting out recently. my Sir makes all the flogger we use, and does custom work too. if you're interested let me know.

as for sting and thud, i'm of the oppinion that each flogger should have a different feel. but i like to get a distinct sensation from each piece. Sir will often use two different floggers at the same time. one to hit with thud, and then zap me witht he sting just for gigles.

The best leather I've seen yet for thud and sting is buffalo latigo with the tails cut to points. Thus far, it is exclusive to Sincrafters.com. As there is only one tannery making it. It's not cheap, but it's definitely worth the price. A quality flogger might look something like this. Note the knots tied in kangaroo.
