Hi Everyone,

Two weeks ago my Master had my nipples double pierced and I was wondering if anyone has some personal experience of general healing times, I know it will vary from person to person but all the timescales I have had so far have been rather vauge, I have looked online and spoken to piercers including the wonderful guy that did these for me and the approx timescale seems to be about 3/4 months, I was wondering if anyone had anything to add to this from personal experience?
Also anything I need to watch out for, currently all is going well, i am cleaning them twice/three times a day and wearing a seam free bra but occasionally they are still a little tender, One of the things I was wondering about is a friend of mine had single piercings through hers last week and later the same day said she couldnt feel them at all wheras mine were really quite painful!

Any thoughts much appriciated!

thanks :)

to me, nipples seem to take a while to heal because they're always rubbing on something, and the flesh itself is erectile, so it's constantly changing shape, etc.  mine took about a month before they were about 95% healed...i say 95% because all piercings take much longer than that to heal fully...some up to a year or more, but that's generally cartilage.  my eyebrow took about 6-8 months before it was what i was comfortable calling 100%.  how you care for your piercings is crucial to heal time.  soaking your nips in little cups of warm water with a pinch of salt in it for at least 10 minutes morning and night (more if  you have the time) helps alot.  saline and piercings go together like peas and carrots.  and do not play with them!!  that's so hard to do, but the more you leave them alone, the better off you are.  cleaning is all you want to do with them.  when i pierce someone i tell them to go braless as much as they can, clean them gently but well, soak in saline and don't touch them unless you must.....and for any piercing not in the mouth, keep it the hell away from anyone's mouth for at LEAST 3 months....6 would be better.  you have to remember you not only put a big puncture in your very tender flesh, you're now asking it to accept a hunk of metal that it was never designed to heal around...this takes time and alot of babying if you're going to keep it infection free and heal without much scarring or rejection.   my other key commandment when i pierce someone is never ever ever buy a "deal" on your jewelry.  you get what you pay for!  you're asking alot of your body to heal around a piece of metal, the least you can do is give it a hand and get a quality piece, that way it's made of metal that is less likely to irritate and has been milled well, so there's less pocks etc on the bar for bacteria to grow on.

Thanks so much habibi, great advice!

It's the not fiddling and playing with them thats the hardest part i think, I have to keep fighting the temptation to fiddle with the bars and I am checking them every couple of hours, I need to learn to keep well alone!
have been adding salt to my bath so that when I soak in there for an hour they get a chance as well as salt water morning and night, only downside is means i have to spend twice as long with moisturiser on the rest of me. The only other piercings i have had is ears, nose and hood, ears and hood healed within weeks and my nose was always iffy, no piercing there now though I may have it done again.

Thanks Muchly!

Hello:)
I find sleeping in a bra really helps healing, because that's when I find I knock mine the most.  Other than that, seems like you're doing everything you should be, just keep them clean, keep up with the salt water and keep your hands away!  (I know, SO hard, but it really is a must!)
As for healing, my first which was redone about five months ago healed within about 6 weeks, but still twinges every now and then, but the other one I got done a fortnight ago is pretty much fine now.  It's really hard to guage exactly I'm afraid, same with any other piercing, and obviously if you knock them or play/fiddle with them too hard, it'll start hurting again!
Hope this helps :)

i'm such a "fiddler" myself..it's soooo hard not to!  but you just have to remember that not only are you touching your open wound with dirty germy hands everytimg you play with them, you're also abusing the wound.  you're reopening it and irritating it, that can knock healing time back by alot....not to mention what will happen to heal time if you get an infection.  i've also found that for some strange reason i play with my piercings while i'm asleep and don't realize it...so yes, bra at night can be good to help that, or a bandaid with the pad part completely covering the piercing so you make sure there's no adhesive part anywhere near the holes. (ouchy if you get too close!!) i do this with my other piercing sometimes too, if i wake up playing with them.  i have a box of bandaids by my bed so i can just pop one on and go back to sleep, knowing i can't fiddle with it again.  some times you have to get creative....like using the dixie cups filled with salt water instead of a whole tub, if your skin gets dry easily.  although salt water is good for your muscles too, so bathing in it is good.  be sure you're not getting any lotion on your piercings!  lotion can turn into a gob of germs after a few minutes.

nipple piercings can take up to two years to heal...if they aren't done right they never will, if they are, it depends on wound care AND how your body heals...i am diabetic, my body heals much slower than someone with normal blood sugar...and though i am typing this to you, i am saying it to myself as well..don't pick, don't pick, don't pick...
i have new wrist piercings, you can see them in the pics on my profile...
good luck (i have had mine done twice, neither time did it heal well...infact i have 1/4" scars from where they migrated....but they are still more sensative, so thats good)

Oh and whatever you do, don't change the balls until it's healed, mine are UV and just make playing with them oh so much more tempting!

Oooooh UV, another great point about pierced nipples, I can't WAIT to get some pretty spider web nipple shields, thanks so much for all the advice people, I generally try and forget about them so I don't play with them,
Ohh another thing ive noticed is pretty much constantly erect nipples  - didnt realise till i was at work and went into the bathroom and realised that it was prominantly obvious through a bra, cami top AND t-shirt that they were pierced, oops!

wrist piercings, along with any other flat piercings like the eyebrow, neck, cheek, etc..where the piercing is done across a flat piece of flesh..are soooo hard to heal!  the rate of flat piercings that migrate and fail is terrible!  it's so sad...you spend so much time and pain getting them done, tending to them and then, even though you may have done everything right, they don't work out.  sucks.  i only use curved barbells on flat piercings, and that tends to help since you don't have the added pressure of a flat bar pushing against the flap of skin you've pierced, but some ppl don't like how they look and try to use flat barbells...some work, some don't.  even though nipples are a projection on your body and not flat, for some reason they tend to migrate anyway.  grrrrr.

i know how great nipple shields look...the spider webs, the suns, etc...but again...do NOT put one on until you are absolutely sure you're completely healed.  you'll thank yourself for waiting!  be sure you haven't had any signs of soreness, redness, discharge...all signs your not quite healed...for a few months....yup...months.  buy a very nice piece of jewelry, cough up some cash for it, be very clean when inserting it and very careful...if you run into any problems and get sore or red put it off for another couple of weeks...and as soon as you get home take it out and clean it up and put "old faithful" back in...don't sleep in shields....they tend to not be as high of quality and they get caught very very easily, they're really just for show and aren't meant for long term.

slavishstudent's advice was really good...and i think most ppl don't think of it...instead of changing the whole piercing, just change the balls...that way, you're not moving the bar in and out and potentially moving bactiera with it, and you can still wear the cool balls you want.  also, like i said before, sometimes the jewelry is not made of metal that is conductive to piercing health, so you're staying with a metal you know is quality and works with your body.

lol..sometimes i reread my posts and realize what a mom i sound like...but i've been doing this for so long, it's hard to see ppl go through disasters and not want to help others avoid it. i'm kind of a nut when it comes to medicine...i've spent most of my life on it, between nursing, midwifery and piercing certifications......strange combo, i know..but i just followed where my interests took me.

Habibi (sorry I haven't yet worked out how to quote!); don't worry about sounding like a mum - most people I know (myself included) with multiple piercings ALL act like that, you do get freakishly maternal about them!

It took about six months before mine stopped being so tender. They were fairly well healed in three months but I was religious in the aftercare instructions that my piercer gave me. Sometimes they still burn, especially when I whack them into door jambs. I still clean them daily with antibacterial softsoap (softsoap keeps the nipple tissue from drying and itching) and I keep some Claire's ear piercing solution on hand for when I feel they might be getting infected.

mine are pierced horizontally just the once each side and strangely the right one hurt LOADS but my piercer says a lot of peoples hurt more the side u write with.ur more sensitive that side she says.mine are about 10 months old now and they still leak lymph a little which is normal.you sound like youre doing everything right but i found walking around topless at home really helped because of the rubbing of any material hampering healing

Master is considering peircing my nipples (and outer labia although im dead excited and i cant wait for Him to do that) at some stage, im not really that fussed about having them done, they are sensitive enough as it is and id be worried id lose that sensitivity if they are pierced.

Does it increase that sensitivity or decrease it? Also would mean He wouldnt be able to abuse them for weeks! Eeeek! im really hoping He doesnt lol

i also heard that urine (your own, it is sterile after all) helps with the healing of peircings, i dont know how true this is maybe someone has used this method and knows if its true or not??

dpt.

personally, the sensativity increased, and stayed increased after i took them out...
as for the urine...not sure...i would tend to say no...it may be sterile but its also the liquid that carries waste products out of the body....bleach and amonia are sterile too but i don't think anyone is recomending them to put on piercings so...i am just gonna stick with anti bacterial soap and sea salt soaks...

After a piercing, your Sir shouldn't put them in his mouth for a period of weeks - your piercer will tell you how long.

The sensitivity stays the same, unless you get an infection.
But the area now gets a 24/7 feeling of being lightly played with which means the mind is more concious of any feeling emanating from there
So imagine your nipples being subtly tweaked everytime you move, 24/7. The heavier the weights/ dangling chains etc the stronger the tweaking feeling and the more the mind focuses there.

Any vibe held off the skin but against the bar, will transmit their vibes along it, past the skin and directly against the nerves from the underside where they are not used to it.

Vibrating tongue stud jewellery can be used on other holes and under work clothes. Take care with a clithood peircing, as having the clit vibed from behind can make simple tasks like walking or talking difficult.

I'd use warm salty water instead, since a peircing shares a lot of the characteristics of an open wound, and while urine content varies, it can contain substances the body didn't want inside itself, as well as stale urine washed off the urethral opening.

Great advice the only thing I would add is use NON IODIZED sea salt to clean them and let them air out after.

Mine healed super fast, (had them done in January, and can play now in July). I never had ooze or crusties. I use this sterile saline spray made for piercings called H2Ocean. I spritz on each opening 2/day and that's it. SO much easier than doing the shot glass of saline over them. BUt i also stayed scrupulously away from them for at least 4 months. I have horizontal barbells. We have bought new jewelry to wear (from the licencesd clean place where we had the piercings done) but have not yet tried it. I LOVE the piercings! I hate bras, but i did wear one the first few months, then just couldn't deal anymore (except for work -- i'm small anyway). I did wear t-shirts in bed so they didn't catch. It only hurts now ALOT when things like chain accidentally pulls on them, heh-heh ...

have fun with them!
