A thought for today... something My grandpa said to me years ago

not all vets give their lives, some give far more.

I agree, family's splitting up and the mental illness from the fatigue of constant deployment..Our military has been trimmed to the bare bones, the guards and reserves some units have been deployed at least twice..The long time of separation in some little hell hole or jungle took its toll on me...try not to die for your country but to live for it....

Asherdelampyr -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 6:30:25 PM)

not to mention the guys that get discharged for medical reasons, or just because they cant stand it anymore, and come home to nothing, unable to find employment or a home or anything, kids that joined as soon as they hit 18 and now have no real world experience

Hanable -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 7:42:33 PM)

sits under my booth with a sigh* am i a failier cuz no one will hire me?? cuz i feel like one.. and its not helping that my moms calling me one.

H >:)

hlen5 -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 7:49:41 PM)

On the contrary, I feel that vets have world experience that no non-vet will ever have. My nephew always had a good head on his shoulders and came back from Iraq even more focused. I'm very proud of him not just for his service but the strides he has made since then. I'm posting this in response to Asher's post (I enjoy reading your posts, Asher).

Asherdelampyr -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 7:54:15 PM)

Unfortunately most employers dont give a good god damn about that kind of experience, which is stupid as hell

and thanks for the compliment

BOUNTYHUNTER -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 8:01:08 PM)

I served 23 years and yes some life experience you would never learn any where else,Now they are fooling around with the GI bill one of the amendments considered is allowing a spouse or child to use the schooling benefits, this is excellent I believe as long as the other benefits aren't cut..WE need as a country to do more for those that serve....Jobs are hard to come by thats pays enough to earn a good wage ,one close to my heart smile was a manger at Hardy's and just bought home around 400$ a week with long hours and very few benfits....

See thats the problem I have... people spending 4,8, or even more than 12 years serving this country, and what do they have to show for it when they get out?  I liked the Starship Troopers model better I guess (bad movie reference) where serving garunteed you certain rigts and privilages after you got out, and made it so you could easily get a good career. instead of this shit where they end up with some horrible low paying job, some fucking thanks that is

sorry, its something I feel kinda strongly about

Asherdelampyr -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 8:11:56 PM)

Hanable, not to sound like an asshole, but we all alrady tried to help you, help you refused, so we are a bit leery of saying oh poor you

Hanable -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 8:46:26 PM)

i refused no help.. if any one had given me help that was realistic i would have checked it out.. i cant move out i have no money and cant find a GOD DAMED job.. u tell me how to move my ass out when i dont have money? dont fucking bitch at me cuz u wont listen. yall acting like my stupid mother.

hlen5 -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 8:48:44 PM)

I have to say I have benefited from my 4 years in the Army. I was able to buy my home and the great state of IL has paid for my AA degree and will be paying for my BA.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 8:51:07 PM)

I actually found no less that 25 places to apply at in your area, you said that you had tried using the service I used before and that you werent going to try again, there is nothing more im willing to do, especially considering your attitude to people when we were trying to help you, you made it plain to me that the only help you would take is a garanteed job, since I cannot give you that there is nothing else I can do. many people are able to find work every day, because they are willing to do whatever it takes to find one, if you are not, then you probably wont find one.

Hlen, that rocks man, its good to see people benifiting for serving our country, as they should

hlen5 -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 9:05:04 PM)

Asher you've got cmail.

sunshinemiss -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 9:20:24 PM)

*slips in and adjusts my apron.

I been to 5 cemeteries.  Flowers for my granddad and my two older brothers and assorted other folks...  It's been a rough few days.  My mom is doing ok.... even though it's her dad and her 2 sons who we visited today.

Havne't had access to the web for a wile, but found a bit of pirated wireless internet... woot woot!

My nephew leaves for a bad place in a day or two.  He's Air Force.  He's a good boy, but it's his 4th deployment.  Sigh.

*places lilacs from grandmas trees - burgundy, purple, violet and white.  Yep they are a blooming and they are fabulous.

* gives hanable some soap.  DO NOT talk like that in here.  You owe Asher an apology for what you said, and you owe Bounty one for using his coffee shop in such a way.  You will get no more attention until you behave yourself.  No cookies no nothing.

NOW ... let's see Lushy is dieting, so angel food cake and strawberries for her... Angel is ... oh i know... *gives her some reese cups and watches the drool.  Brings Bounty a bowl of stewed apples with cinnamon and other spices... and no sugar.  And Miss H... tut tut... Some lovely hazelnut coffee cuase you can never have enough.
FYI... 4 days and counting.  eek!

Now in honor of this USA holiday....

Peace to you all, and please bring them all home safely (specially Jack, my  nephew).

sunshine

sunshinemiss -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 9:21:29 PM)

*drops off an angel food cake with blueberries as stars, and strawberreis over white icing as stripes... and leaves out some milk.

*goes to bed... ish

Asherdelampyr -> RE: BOUNTY'S coffee shop (5/26/2008 9:22:55 PM)
