I'm not sure what help I can give, but I can definitely sympathize. You see, back in the days when I had to take birth control I was unlucky enough to get every bad symptom in the manual and a few that weren't known about till a few years later. I'm talking about a few years on the pill, and then a few more years with the IUD. Then at age 35 I finally got a tubal ligation (like I had been begging for for almost 20 years and my problems were over). Anyway, I notice when looking up the NuvaRing (which I had never heard of till your post) that one of the potential side effects is: quote:
http://www.sexualhealth.com/article.php?Action=read&article_id=368&channel=1&topic=89 • • Using NuvaRings may cause headaches, depression, mood changes, or decreased enjoyment of sex (infrequent. Take it from a veteran, that the "infrequent" comment is meaningless if those symptoms are happening to you and you have my sincere sympathy if that is indeed what is happening in this case. I got massive mood swings and depression while I was on the pill and when I tried to report it, I was told that "it was all in my head" (well, I guess that's where mood swings and depression do live, but still ) Then, when I was going through my problems with the IUD, I had numerous "experts" tell me to give it time (I was doing labour pains every period while my body tried to get rid of the thing). While this is good advice because for a lot of women symptoms do stabilize, if I had to do it over again, I think I would have started to ignore the experts in a few months rather than putting up with it for years. In summary, I would listen to your body about this issue and be aware that your crankiness may have as much to do with this new treatment as with any background stuff that is going on with your life (including the enforced "celibacy"). Give it time, but don't give it too much time. Alix
