Not all mexicans are lazy fuckers who won't get real jobs and share thier home with 20 people.

I worked with a group of Mexicans in a different life.. yeah, there were literally 12 of them in a single wide, complete with whoever had family up here, most were legally in this country, but I'll be dammed if they weren't the hardest-working bunch of mo-fos on that project.. and because they were splitting the rent 12 or 13 ways, they were out *maybe* $20 a month each on rent, 99% of the remaning money they were sending home to their familes in Mexico... minus a little tequila money.

Oh i know. My grandmother had this one guy who came to do all over her yard and lawn work after he did the best job for a couple hours pay and lunch. He told her all his money that didn't go for rent and food went back to his pregnant wife. And the Hispanic culture is very family oriented. A given home could have 3 generations under one roof. Its not bad when you think about it.

Only bearded clams. ;-)

Damn, not the one.  That doesnt work in the song's metre.

Well I saw the thing comin' out of the sky
It had the one long horn, one big eye
I commenced to shakin' and I said "ooh-eee"
It looks like a purple eater to me

It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
(One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater)
A one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me (One eye?)

Well he came down to earth and he lit in a tree
I said Mr. Purple People Eater, don't eat me
I heard him say in a voice so gruff
I wouldn't eat you cuz you're so tough

It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
One-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater
One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me (One horn?)

I said Mr. Purple People Eater, what's your line
He said it's eatin' purple people and it sure is fine
But that's not the reason that I came to land
I wanna get a job in a rock and roll band

Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater
Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple people eater
(We wear short shorts)
Flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me

And then he swung from the tree and he lit on the ground
He started to rock, really rockin' around
It was a crazy ditty with a swingin' tune
Sing a boop boop aboopa lopa lum bam boom

Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater
Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple people eater
I like short shorts
Flyin' little people eater
Sure looks strange to me (Purple People?)

And then he went on his way, and then what do ya know
I saw him last night on a TV show
He was blowing it out, a'really knockin' em dead
Playin' rock and roll music through the horn in his head

[...] After the Columbine shootings, both sets of parents were asked about what methods they used for disciplining their children.  Neither of them stated using corporal punishment during their children's upbringing.  I wonder if a good swat on the ass at some point, and being told no would have changed things?

Thank you again for showing the difference between the words stereotype and the word prejudice.  The word stereotype has no negative implied by definition, while the word prejudice does.

Okay... you are trying to prove your theory is right by demonstrating that mine is wrong. Logic doesn't work this way: it's not because the parents of the two Columbine assassins didn't smack them that they went out and shot fellow students. Sorry.

As for pointing out the difference between stereotype and prejudice, it was you that did it. I'd like to point out, though, just out of personal interest, that the word 'stereotype' does have a negative connotation in French, simply because it means something unoriginal and boring. But I guess that's a small price to pay  .

I love Carlos Mencia and the fact that he has the nerve
to come out and say things the way they are, whether they are
his words or someone is writing them for him, he is the one coming out and saying it. He even says what he finds wrong or silly funny about his own race; "the beaners", lol.
He works at telling the truth in all the hilarity that it is comprised of. It's a good way for all of us to see it in that context, instead of having it come out through hate speak or violence. He says things in a way that shows we are all not that different and we really need to look and laugh at the insanity of it all.

Well, I, for one, am glad that anybody beating their child is putting themselves out for judicial retribution. In those times you so much long for, children didn't carry guns to school, but they would grow up to beat each other up, to beat their siblings up, and eventually, their own offsprings.

As for street violence, I shudder when I think of the American Wild West, or indeed, Victorian London.

I don't call that a good thing.

i respect your right to not believe in corporal punishment, as it must have worked in your life.  but i have 100 cousins or more, all of us were whipped as children, none have grown up to be abusers, and all of us are wonderful human beings.

I was never ever touched as a child - and believe me, I was extremely disciplined and together. Granted: I had a bit of a temper, but that comes with the territory, because as a together kid, top-grades at school, I expected more respect and consideration from adults than what they were usually prepared to dish out. But that's my own little bit of pathos :-)

I don't believe in corporal punishment EVER: that's because a child's defenseless and unable to hit back. And to me, that is just plain wrong, because it always leaves the door open to abuse.

You do realize that even though you presently live in an all white community, it can be "infiltrated" by blacks at anytime?  There is essentially no where in the U.S. you can run to that at least does not have the possibility of blacks living there.  If "white flight" is your solution then have it, and no disrespect on my part.  But what happens when you are run out of places to run to?

My solution is not quite "white flight" its family flight. Everyone in my neighborhood is related, and everytime someone dies with no children or their children decide to sell their property, we buy the home and either rent it or sell it to someone else in the family. My family has been living on the same peice of property for over 160 years now, I really dont think its gonna change any time in the near future. I live here because my grandparents are nextdoor, my aunt is on the other side of my property, I have 2 aunts and a cousin accross the street, and three cousins and a great uncle behind me. The list goes on as you get farther away from my house. I live here because I have a huge yard where it is compleatly safe for my UMs to play, they have lots of cousins their own age to play with, and I feel safe leaving my front door unlocked. I know that if the UMs need something they can go to any house within walking distance and get it, if they do something bad, some adult somewhere is going to discipline them and bring them home. I know there arent many neighborhoods left like the one I live in, and Im extreamly proud of it.

I dont ask for anyone to reaffirm my beliefs, I dont seek out anyone for any reason. Alot of people see it pitiful that 90% of the people I spend time with are related to me, my best friend is also my cousin, if Im not spending time with my family, Im with my husbands family. Neither of our families believes the same things I do, I'm alone in the way I feel and Im OK with that. Like I said, its something that I believe because of my own experiances, never said everyone in the world had the same experiances, and in truth, I hope they dont, mine have been bad, im sure lots of people have good ones. good for them, it doesnt mean Im going to move any time soon.

While I will certainly agree with you that good and bad people come in all races, I can honestly say also that there is only one ethnic group I know of that can make a town look like Beirut.

Just out of curiosity which ethnic group can make a town look like Beirut?....Beirutians?

I have no idea what this statement means....Is it white folks? ...Blacks? ....Hispanics?.....Belizeans?

Well, it was a joke....the guy said he knew an ethnic group that can make a place look like beirut....so I suggested it was the lebonese, seeing as how beirut is in lebanon and im sure it was the lebanese who built it.....

My beautifully breasted friend,.. why did you find my question to be offensive?...I was merely hoping that the person who made the statement would clarify.
