Now though - why would it be worth paying money to see Seeks in a dress?

A) because he would thereby become a figure of ridicule

And from that, our regard for him would fall and for some their view of him would become antagonistic and for some of those there would be no reason whatsoever not to take out whatever anger they might have against him as a soft target because there is no longer any need to regard him as a human being due respect.

LadyE: I think you exaggerate the threat you face

Lets be clear Seeks; I face little threat because no one knows I'm TS. Living where I do, I should have been dead a while back.
But those who dont pass face a significant daily threat, which translates into the crime figures I see. Dont be under any misapprehension here - its very real.
If you find it truly difficult to believe, then I suggest that tomorrow morning you dress as a woman, and try walking through the rougher parts of your town and see what happens.
E

I may surprise you all and give it a go but I cant apply lipstick and the shoes hurt my feet .
You see tho' LadyE that to get into the kind of difficulty you report as the norm you have to choose the right, or wrong as the case may be, location.
I rest my case m'lud lol

Poor whitey always concerned as to what about me?.....there is a reason that  "hate crimes" are treated differently....A murder is a murder...Mathew Shepherd is still dead regardless of the motivations of his attackers...Hate crimes can be much more sublime....They can be misdemeanors or less....Defile a mosque...Burn a cross....a literal campaign of terror that is only out  to make the object of your bias uncomfortable feel unwelcome, terrorized and less than human in the "land of the free."

White people don't understand the need for laws protecting minorities....But if possible we would never  hire them...We are seldom the target of a hate crime and that is a fact!!!   Banks have been long known to offer unfair practices when it comes to dealing with minorities....Realtors will steer minorities away from white areas.....

I was having dinner and I over heard a white dude saying he had hired a black guy as an employee and he was amazed by how hard he worked....He said something like "wow...I must have hit the jackpot.".....I said something to the effect that he was incredibly fortunate to have found the only black guy in Chicago that was willing to work.
The conversation went down hill from there.

Immigration....Oh we are so worried about losing our 6-7dollar an hour jobs and what about the cost of care?....For many they are only concerned with the rise in population of the Hispanics in this country...They don't like them.  If they could they would formulate a bill to remove them all.

It is a shame that these laws are still necessary...but they are....Yes they can be abused.....Poor white people....Why can't we do what we want to do and just be left alone?

To SubinMaine...Unlike others here I don't entirely believe your story....I tried to google it couldn't find it....What occurred is a matter of public record....Not trying to step on toes but it would be interesting to find what actually transpired....Cuz I aint buying it.

It would be nice if none of these laws served a purpose...But they do....We are an intolerant lot...Whether it be Muslims, Latinos or Lesbos there is someone so opposed to their ethnicity or lifestyle that the will do whatever they can to make there lives miserable.....And without a hate crime law...Little could be done to stop it.

I am glad that there are organizations such as the ACLU....I have never understood why people take offense to this organization.

funny, i dont see myself as "whitey"
and if a mosque is defaced, then the charge is destruction of private property.....seems simple enuff.
and generalizing that whitey doesnt understand, simply debases your agument, too general a statement.
i wont sit here and suggest that there is no rascism in America, but i dont see where it should affect sentencing of a criminal..
if someone commits a crime, and is found guilty, then sentence him/her according to the laws,,,
isnt life complicated enuff?

is it important to add 10 yrs to someones sentence because they say something during the act of a crime? or because the crime was perpertrated against another race?

I don't support the idea of hate crimes.

Joe Blow takes a black guy into an alley and beats the hell out of him because he doens't like blacks.

Joe Blow takes a white guy into an alley and beats the hell out of him because he's just a vicious asshole.

Joe Blow #1should serve 10 more years than Joe Blow #2? Nope.

The purpose of a hate crime is that you specifically target your vengeance because of the difference of someone else...it is not that in a heated argument you let loose some racial obscenity. It is not because they are an asshole.

I don't believe SubinMaine"s account of her story...I think it is a lie. Or is at least omitting many other facts.

agreed level....
having said that, i try to understand that the powers at be may believe that the hate crimes bills would potentially dissaude possible crimes.
its my belief that since many who commit crime, know that they are a simple plea bargain away from a much lesser sentence...a bigger deterrent would be to keep folks in jail the proscribed amount of time.
case in point...here locally a few months back.... a gentlemen got arrested for road rage..(pffft)
during a traffic dispute, he stopped his vehichle, went to the other driver with a can of gasoline, and poured onto him,and inside his car.....thsi gentlemen had a history of violence. the judge let him off with a lil time served,,so muchchecking in with a parole officer (time eludes me) ,,and a fine i think...the jack ass walked outta court!!!!
he should of been jailed on attempted murder.....
and im sure if u look,,and im guesing you will,,it wasnt hate crime related ,,so far as i know they were both white.
but the idea being,,we dont enforce the laws we have now :(

Amazing that "whitey" can be used and no one bitches.  If I came in here and said something about "darkie", and I'm sure I'll get (at the VERY least) a warning from a mod for using a racial slur.

What's the difference?

Who says it and who they are referring to.

It's fine for gays to use the "f" word, it's fine for blacks to use the "n" work, it's fine for Jews to use the "k" word.  Carlos Mencino (sp?) is always using derogatory comments regarding hispanics... God forbid if I or any of my fellow crackers use one of those words.  Suddenly I'm a racist.  Or Uwince is a racist, or SubinMaine is a racist.

Honestly, who really fucking cares?  No, whitey can't pull the racial slur card.  No, whitey can't use those common derogatory terms.  And no, not every whitey in the world is treated like a movie star and drive nice cars and live in nice homes and have perfect pink babies and never worry about where the rent or mortgage is coming from, or have to choose between eating or paying for propane because it gets to be 40 below outside.  I am so sick and tired of all the minorities who say "what about me"?

Wear your ethnicity on your sleeve and carry that big black chip on your shoulder and yeah.. you just might have issues at a bank or steered away from a white neighborhood.  But you know what?  Not everyone gives a crap about what color I am, what color(s) Crimson is (quite the mix, dear! lol), what color anyone is.  It's been my experience that anyone with any sort of chip on their shoulder is going to be treated differently.  Period.

And, I have not "whitey" card to play.  So I just have to accept the fact I'm an asshole and deal with it from there.  And while I may be an asshole, at least I'm not a racist.

Evening, DG. I still don't see why one is given a higher "value" than the other.

The ACLU, and other organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center are indeed good things, generally speaking.

There is a double standard which is not deniable....You have to watch what you say....Poor whitey....So I suppose that you would be willing to become Hispanic in order to be truly able to speak your mind?....I think not....As Chris Rock has said, "There aint a single motherfuckin white person alive that would trade places with me...And I'm fucking RICH!!!"...lol.

so is ur story about eating in a restaurant and over hearing whitey....but i didnt mind,,,my point was the need to enforce the laws we have, instead of trying to bolster them in some way that makes no sence.
if i am killed by a non white..... i dont care that he hated me,,i want to know he will be tried for the REAL crime,,,of murder

And crimes against whites are exempt?  So a [insert minority here] can go up to big mean whitey and say "I hate white people" and put a bullet in his head, is that a hate crime?

Case in point, there is no way to determine if a crime is racially motivated.  Granted, if the defendant has a shaved head and a swastika tattooed on his chest, there's a pretty damn good chance he doesn't care much for minorities.  Otherwise, how does a person know?  In the heat of an argument, sure, racial slurs can be uttered.  Hell, in the serentiy of this forum, you've already used a racial slur "whitey", but again it's okay because it's against whites, and there's no such thing as discrimination against whites.

Speaking of that.. "reverse discrimination" is a phrase I absolutely loathe.  Discrimination is discrimination, regardless.

Re: SubinMaine's story.. you've called her a liar twice.  I would appreciate it if you'd refrain from doing it a third time.
