LOL...no thanks...you are, according to all evidence produced so far, a male. Normally I don't like those yucky things (males)...but Master came along and instead of Me spanking Him...well...let's just say these days I have no shortage of being tied up good and proper [;)]

Petronius... stop blathering and proving you completely senseless... once again I must point out to you she mentioned it had to do with the locator device in windows

YOU requested evidence... I posted it for you... quit blathering for gods sake

Claims for Lothlauren's great computer expertise include, I believe, his work in the computer industry since he was 12(!), his two degrees, his 98% grades, and his $165 an hour payrate.

Yet he has, and continues to have, great difficulty recognizing that the Windows XP locator service to which he routinely refers is not one of the generic messenger packages like those by Yahoo or programs like "AIM for Linux."

Here are the statements Lockit made in the first post that started this thread.

quote:

"If you use a messenger service for communications with people you meet online… if they have the wherewithal, they can use that to get into your computer.  ... Looking at it all, it seems the only connection in it all is a messenger service.  I have tried different online carriers and computers, changing all accounts and never going back to people-places-or email, virus protections, using another computer to hide the one I am using, switching from one computer to the next, never showing a picture or true information, moving out of state twice and on and on… ... use messenger only with those you have known a long time and trust… or they can get you. "

This is not a claim about a "locator service in Windows" particularly where Lockit claimed "the only connection in it all is a messenger service."

Logic should indicate that somebody who has used multiple computers and a goodly number of them -- even in different states -- would not all be running Windows XP and all have the same four-year-old uncorrected bug about a "locator service" based on a security bulletin by Microsoft from 2003.

quote:

"Hotmail and yahoo are very unlikely to investigate and there is little that you can do to protect yourself.

"I have talked to police, the FBI and anyone I could think of to stop this freakoid and protect myself and there isn’t anything anyone ... will do to help me. ...I know where to find him, but no one will do anything."

This is not a claim about a "locator service in Windows."

It is a claim about a lackadaisical security industry where corporate security, the Colorado police (where Lockit states she's located), and the FBI refuse to examine what Lockit claims is the gaping security problem in messenger software.

quote:

"They say anything can be traced…"

This is not a claim about a "locator service in Windows."

It is a statement about the absence of thorough security on computers. I contrasted it with things like public key encryption and the chains of anonymous remailers. Nobody has, as far as I recall, even tried to show how anything published with the proper use of that technology could be traced.

I do not know Lothlauren, thus I do not know of his history and experience in the computer industry. However, Petronius, I have to ask why you find it difficult to believe that he could have made a contribution at the age of 12?

If I may bore you with my own evidence... when I was 16 (1975) I was engaged in writing COBOL and SNOBOL code on our school's MDS-2100 system. My programming, while useful in my training, also had the purpose of being used to record, tabulate, and report student grade averages and test scores to the state's (the name of the state is irrelevant to my point) education department. As your profile states that you're physically older than I, you will recognize the fact that at that time, microprocessors were neither common nor proven for government or business use. Almost all daily processing done for commercial, governmental, and defense use was done with the "big iron" mainframes, of which the MDS-2100 is but one example of the many, many styles and manufacturers at the time. Remember DEC (VAX, PDP), Sperry & Burroughs (UNIVAC and the B-series), IBM... the list goes on.

I find it particularly disturbing that your sole purpose here is not to contribute anything useful, at all, to the original post. Instead, your purpose, as evidenced by your own writings, seems to have been to question, berate, and antagonize those who are trying, at some level, to contribute to the topic of the original post. I simply don't understand your motivation... what it is personally that you're trying to get from this thread.

I implied in an earlier post (#179) that you lost all credibility in my eyes. That has not changed. My intent was to not respond to any more of your rambling thoughts. But I cannot believe, with all your posturing that even you, Petronius, cannot be so open-minded as to accept the possibility that people are whom they're claiming to be in general; that Lothlauren could have contributed to the computer field at the age of 12 specifically. Is this a small point that I've babbled on in this particular post? Certainly, and I would even say that it, too, is as irrelevant to the original post as many of your posts have been. However, it was with this one, small point that I believe I have caught a glimpse of your seeming motivations here.

I just don't get it...

I agree with what you wrote, sappatoti.

When I used to coach soccer or teach martial arts, I would tell my kids that it is a very small person who seeks to build themselves up by tearing other people down.

My experience as an adult is that many adults have never learned this lesson.

thank You for the warning... i have also seen people that like to 'stalk' subs/slaves. it seems that they cannot accept that they are not what the sub/slave desires and somehow feels they can 'force' them to feel differently!

SeanPony -> RE: Maybe leaving CM.. A warning (7/17/2007 2:15:13 PM)

I have had some stalkers in the past but nothing worth worrying about.

More stalk Less talk hahah

It could be serious in some situations so watch out for the ones that have gone loonie tunes.

strange tho.....they always go away when you invite them in

Ok Petronius.

I find that your request for proof and your lack of paying attention to details... beyond fustrating. there is no question in my mind that I should just ignore you and treat you like the other ID10T errors in the industry... you seem to have a major bug between your chair and your keyboard and suggest you get a good anti viral program to resolve it

......from your sig line, isn't it 'criticism'?
Details are a betch........

Everybody's a critic.

Or ... is it ... Everybody's a comedian.

Pah.

Lothlauren -> RE: Maybe leaving CM.. A warning (7/17/2007 3:31:08 PM)

Try reading the thread... he asks for proof and when supplied it goes on to babble about other bullshit... seriously

If you think I am being critical ... you try and have a reasonable discussion with him... it wont work...

My critism comes from trying over and over to get him to actually read what was posted... Lockit herself said she had no comp experience... said that it seemed like messenger was the culprit and that some kind of locator device was involved

I did the research and actually posted the quote from microsoft on the RPC Locator and how it affects systems xp and older...

Apparently that wasnt good enough... in all seriousness, because I dont feel like having a conversation with a total idiot anymore and I am being critical? be serious and look at the situation if the shoe was on your foot you would have been fed up by now.

...perhaps, perhaps not. i use the walk-away-and-have-a-nice-cuppa-and-a-smoke solution a lot. Details, seriously, are a pain though. Once discussions get down to such a subatomic level they can easily be derailed by details. It is important to bear in mind the broad sweep of things. Not all issues can be resolved by reductionist strategies.
