ocilla - I left the restaurant cooking behind about 5 years ago, after cooking for nearly 18 years. I was finding I wasn't getting anywhere and was losing my love of cooking. Now I just cook for the pleasure of it at home for family and friends. I've also have several years of baking experience though I never formally got my trade papers. There are tiomes where I do miss cooking for living but I remind myself of how stressful it was and I do confess I'm a total different person when working in a kitchen.....more moodier and short tempered rofl.

why K shouldn't cook with pomegranate juice: most of what's sold in AU as pomegranate JUICE is actually concentrate that's been diluted with water and high fructose syrup - nasty when heated. If you're looking to cook with it, look for pomegranate NECTAR or MOLASSES. Other than that, yeah - the recipe ideas sound good. Cuffs: you were missed, as were all of you cats...

I'm right there with you on the burn out and the "different person" thing. It only took one time of me whipping out the perfectnist evil chefy domme in an office type setting for me to recall how demanding she can be. And part of what I like about Domming is getting to let her out for a run here and there.It is so much more fun in when playing rather than having to be a badass cause a critic is in the dining room! LOL. Eoin and I bonded over that in our first conversation. Ahh baking - a sure way to bring a smile to anyone.

Actually, I'm having the opposite reaction... I'm now foul and surly after changing jobs. Might have something to do with having to pull crap out of my ass on a regular basis to be able to afford myself and what I'm supposed to be doing by corporate fiat, but I choose to blame not having filthy assistants... I miss my filthy ones that I can abuse without penalty... <sigh> I SO need to get beaten...

I knew it was time for me to stop cooking for a living when I had a very heated arguement with a waitress who was trying to tell me how to do my job. She had this holier than thou attitude of because she waited tables for over 10 years made her an expert in the kitchen. I basically told her to stay out of the kitchen, I do not tell her how to serve customers and damn well don't tell me how to cook! Then I took off my apron and handed it to her and said if you can do a better job then take my job!
