If this tree is dying or dead, and it's anywhere near your house, a heavy snowfall or ice storm may bring parts of it, if not the entire thing, down this coming winter... possibly damaging your home. Something to consider.

It could still get us a new kitchen.. ;-)

Black Cherry: The Goldfrapp album is very good as well... a little too vocal-heavy for a playtime soundtrack, but "Strict Machine" is just waaaaaay too much fun to sing along to in traffic.

Gibsons: Must it be that model and finish of LP? I've a 60s LP Jr. that I've not touched in months...

Symphonic Masterpieces: speaking of which, I'm still working out the links for audio to stream as well as download.

If anyone is wondering what to get Me for My upcoming birthday (which is in December), there is only one thing on My list...

Vintage '50s/'60s or more modern? (Like I can afford any of them at this moment).

I had a friend who had a '60s Les Paul Sunburst, and never gave it up for anything. He tried a '70s version and said it truly sucked... the play action was all wrong... the pickups sounded pretty thin... the balance was all "wrong."

earthycouple -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (9/16/2007 7:48:35 AM)

hi ya cynt!

instynctive -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (9/16/2007 7:50:58 AM)

More specifically, a Gibson Les Paul Standard with a 60's neck... ;-)

Morning Cyntil... We've got the fire roaring (a little unnecessary, but it's nice) and are watching cheesy SciFi movies. :-)

beargonewild -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (9/16/2007 7:54:34 AM)

Trying again...
Each link *should* open a new window/tab that will allow you to either stream or download the song. Since these are fairly big files, I don't feel like eating your hard drives... There is a bit of a delay before it starts. But it works!

Spade+Archer, "Thee Last Time" aka Keith and Rudy jamming at Chez e01n a couple of weeks ago, with some tidying up by The Notorious EKB...

Technical notes for the other Arrrrghanian audio heads: recorded dry and effected tracks separately into Ardour, chunked and chopped tracks and reassembled sources in Audacity. Created song structures with .blue and final render in csound... Since it's still in process, I'll probably do some post-prod in Audacity or Ardour.

No, no album art yet. Looking for input...

Enjoy!

Oh, I should warn you all... yes, that's me singing.

Truly horrifying, no?

Works better when you remember that I'm wearing a skirt and heels and working my best "Floodland"-era Patty Morrison look...

The look we were going for, but Rudy also wanted to wear a dress after wearing a beard under stage lights...

KMsAngel -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (9/16/2007 8:09:49 AM)

seems to be working...

Thanks e01n! All downloaded fine and I've pushed the play button on iTunes. :)

Thanks also for the gear & session info. It's amazing what can be done with open source software these days (speaking of Ardour and Audacity; not familiar with .blue and csound). This motivates me to get Ardour installed and working. I need to see how it differs from GarageBand anyway.

I like the way "another time" sounds, just playing in the background. When I carve out some time later this afternoon, I'll turn off the iTunes compressors and give them all a real good listen.

e01n -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (9/16/2007 8:27:43 AM)

Ardour is still waaaaaaaay BETA stage... use at own risk! If you can get it running on MacOS, please let the developers know how you did it...

.blue is also open source - it's taking the idea of ProTools/Acid/Garageband type "sound objects" and marrying them to the synthesis power of csound... which is pretty impressive if you can get yourself up the language's learning curve.

Audacity, that's my audio toolbox of choice and recommendation to others. Since it runs on just about every platform, yeah... really cool tool.

instynctive -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (9/16/2007 8:27:44 AM)

Jeezus.. what are you piping guitar 2 through on "Another Time"?
