so heres my issue...... what i have:
intel celeron 996 mhz
256 mb ram
10 gig hd
and a 40 gig hd i just picked up......so question is what are pros/cons to replacing 10 gig with 40 gig?

Status: offline 		Well the only thing I see is you'll have an increased storage which is a good thing for storing large files and it won't slow down the 'puter. Unfortunately I'm not that versed in thre tecnical end of computers. Too bad Lumus isn't on as he' knows way more than I do.

Pro is upgrading his version of Windows, for sure, which will allow him better use of things like Java and other applets. If he is using XP he really wants to upgrade for the space, and XP will run more smoothly because there will be more free space on the hard drive.
XP on 10 Mb sucks, been there, done that.  XP chew up like 4 Gb on you alone.
The only real down side is that if he's not using XP he'll notice some changes...if he's a computer-savvy guy like me he might not appreciate some of the headaches with XP - like not being able to remove IE completely
