*hugs sappa*

Sappa, how's the smoke today? Settling down? I thought of you when I heard about the fires and wondered if they were near you. I had a bad year for fires here last year, don't know how it will be this year.

sappatoti -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (5/21/2008 8:05:56 AM)

The fires within a couple of miles have all but been extinguished. They weren't nearly as large as those still burning elsewhere; a total of 25 acres or so scattered amongst four separate burns. The smoke, at least locally, has cleared out with the aid of a cloudless sky and a brisk wind.

So, for now, all is well. We're still keeping a watchful eye though as the wind, sun, heat, and continuing lack of rain keeps on drying out the vegetation.

Welcome to fire season in FL...

And here it's cooled down after a beautiful storm yesterday. It's partly cloudy but sunny, breezy, cool and absolutely wonderful after record highs over the weekend. Glad to hear that it's cleared out at least though!

sappatoti -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (5/21/2008 8:59:04 AM)

That sounds lovely LadyRain. Are you going to miss the climate after your big move is completed?

LadyRainfire -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (5/21/2008 9:04:43 AM)

[&:]  I have no idea. I won't miss the heat in the summer but I will miss the dry heat. It gets very humid there which I may have some problems with, at least initially. I think I'll like the winters, I like snowstorms. *laughs*  Ask me this time next year and I can answer better!

sappatoti -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (5/21/2008 9:12:35 AM)

Not that I have any great amount of experience with dry heat, but given what experience I have had, I think I do better with more humid conditions; around 50% being good.

For most of last week, the humidity level here ranged from 11% to 13%, or about the same as what is normal for areas of New Mexico. Besides the plants drying out, I dried out as well... literally. To look at me was to believe that I could have possibly been an errant cross-breeding experiment between humans and reptiles. ;-)

That calls to mind some interesting imagery, Sappa.

ocilla -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (5/21/2008 10:03:44 AM)

A weasel!  I do love weasels.

BSB did you notice that your lad is from Slovenia?  I have actually been doing some work for the Slovenia market.  I have not been over there though.  Do you think all the fellas there are this yummy?  Might have to go into the male slave trade business.....Now there is a story line.  BSB and the bear's Solvenian slave training and smuggling service....And perhaps you might need to have a harvesting point somewhere in Turkey too....I hear yummy things about boys from there....

LadyRainfire -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (5/21/2008 10:05:43 AM)

Ya and see, living in the desert, last time I was in a place that had high humidity for too long, I ended up with bronchitis that tuned into pneumonia. Where I'm going is totally surrounded by water between the Great Lakes and rivers so the humidity is high. I know that I'll eventually get used to it but I ain't a fish to be breathing water! *winks*

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (5/21/2008 10:06:13 AM)

indeed

beargonewild -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (5/21/2008 10:36:58 AM)

*bearhugs and gropes ocilla*
I'm all ready for some men-napping ocilla. I think between you and me, we should have a healthy slave trade business going and seeing BSB is in Florida, we'll use that as our base of operations. If we do hit Turkey, we might as well make another pit stop in Greece. I've seen many fine specimens of hunky man flesh from there!

Humidity isn't so bad until it's really effing hot. And when you're living in a cemented-over swamp... it gets pretty gross. I won't even get into the smell factor of city air plus city sweat and swamp gas. eugh.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (5/21/2008 11:23:28 AM)

You know its going to be one of those days when you get al ready to head to work and realize you never put on your shoes.

LadyRainfire -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (5/21/2008 11:29:07 AM)

martyrized, I gotta say, I love your avi! I got 2 fuzzballs (for now) and love them. I'll miss them when I leave here. My son is keeping them. Their names are Dover and Lynx. Got them from a mass rescue from Ohio last year. Not too many people are familiar with ferrets. *grins*

About the humidity, I don't want to think about city stink and it. I live out in the country and am moving into the city. I look out my bedroom window to a paddock with 2 horses right now. Got farm fields 1 block over. I'm just a few miles from the mountains. All of this to a city of 140,000.... Oh ya - it's gonna be fun! Thankfully, I used to live in the Bay Area of California so it won't be a total shock. Just something I wasn't expecting to be in again.

Ahhhhhhh, the things we do for love!

Well...crap.  That story slipped my mind; thanks, girl. [:)]  I'll make some notes about the story skeleton after I call my little guy in a few minutes.
