This is, of course, easily refutable...

When I am getting a dog-licking-peanut-butter, world-class head kinda blowjob, I am not focused on myself, but rather my dick.

If that isn't selflessness, I don't know what is.

What makes the paranoid one think that 'it' means the female/gal and not the guy stealing the groceries?  creepy indeed.

"I find it dangerous using a pitiful tearful tactics as guise for a possible wolf in lamb's clothing.  It is similar to the creepy guy who uses a limp to get a gal to help him carry groceries and then pushes it into the back of his van."

Bob's paranoia that he assumed you referred to the gal as it - nope.... you did actually refer to the gal as it.  If he is pushing the groceries to the back of his van then he's not the crepy guy you thought and just arranging the groceries the woman carried for him.  If he pushed himself into the van that wouldn't make sense - if he went first, she'd be outside and would get away, if he pushed himself in second - who would drive? lol

Bob - I am simply puttinjg across my opinion - just as you place yours.  The message board is what it is for - discussion - debate.

Why do you insist on putting down anyone who disagrees with you?  Does it offend you that much?  Scare you that intensely?

Why not just accept that not everyone thinks as you and don't allow it to concern you?

quote:

According to dark, selfless people are undesirable, apparently because they are "perfect" and "enlightened".

Also, for the record - I never said that someone who is selfless is undesirable.  Jesus was one who was selfless (if you believe in such - even if you do not, it makes a great 'story') - and he was desirable.
Do not put words in my mouth that I never said.
I also did not say that selfless is perfect - you implied that in your very first post - I simple expounded on the idea. If you would like the reference, I will gladly give it.

If you submit - you gain.
If you dominate - you gain.

Whether that is gaining giving pleasure to the other makes no difference - it is still a gain that you desired to give, therefore you are being selfish.  A selfish master gains the selfish slave.  To deny oneself that which they are to aid someone COULD be determined as selflessness.  But domination and submission in itself - is not.

quote:

dark does not appear to recognize that becoming selfless is a process, and predicts (without experience) that completing that process renders one undesirable.

Then I suggest you go back and re-read - as I explained that if selflessness is perfection, then it is a process - that the perfection is the end of.

Peace
the.dark.

I never thought about it like that, I guess you have to debate if your dick is integral to who you are or just a little aside.

No one is totally selfless.

No one knows everyone, FC.

There might be totally selfless people out there somewhere.

I don't really see that being the point though.

There are people, myself included, who believe in selfless love and who strive to be more selfless than we are.

quote:

When I see a so called selfless person I’m just waiting for the mask to fall as everyone else is.

If that is your choice. If you get enough people hounding someone how many people wouldn't find that annoying to be on the receiving end?

Selflessness doesn't mean anyone is a doormat to anyone.

It is the selfish who treat others as doormats, not the selfless.

quote:

A selfless master: one that pretends that punishment is educational and gets nothing out of doing it?

A selfless master has accepted what he is, just as a selfless slave has accepted what she is.

In a selfless relationship, there is no need for punitive measures, only instruction.

Bear in mind, there is no antagonism between goals within the relationship I've described. The slave wants to learn, the master wants to teach.

That plus patience and understanding and there is never any need for punishment.

In the ten+ years I knew my wife, I never punished her.

Instructing her was always fun.

I don't think she's gonna get.  She didn't understand the Ted Bundy reference either.

Why the need to put words in my mouth bob? Just look at common examples and you’ll see selfless people don’t exist. Self preservation is the strongest drive in human beings that is hardwired and hard to deny. On one hand you say there are selfless people but you don’t stop to consider that people are this way because it’s a tactic they have opted for to get them through life. The fear of being judged by others is too much for them so they create the image of selflessness. You can’t be selfless and then put yourself on a pedestal and look down on the selfish masses.

All these new definitions bob I can’t keep up I only learnt what a kajirus was recently and now I have to distinguish between SIMasters and SLMasters too.

Fire and Rescue?

Police?

Parents running into burning buildings to save a child?

And yet it does happen and when it happens we tend to show it the respect it deserves.

I would not describe that attitude as a wise choice for a teacher striving to be more selfless.

But considering your attitude towards the selfless, I can see it would be unlikely they would be attracted to you.

So perhaps your pov is not based on much first-hand experience.

These are not selfless acts.  There is an end result that the person desires. Regardless of others.

i agree about self preservation, but i also don't think it negates a person being selfless either.

i do soooooooooooooo hope you are around when some slaves on the board come and claim they have no self preservation instincts and would literally die for their masters.  Some even claim an inability to defend themselves saying they lack any such instinct.  No one seems to challenge that in the least.  But a dom who says he believes in selfless love is torched and fried - unbelievable.

That hurt bob, I’d be drowning in my own tears here if there weren’t so many holes in that metaphor.

Rather than site the police/fire… etc. as being selfless maybe you should consider why they joined in the first place? I’d be grateful to them for risking their lives as anyone would but it’s not selfless they do get something out of it themselves.

A man offers a seat to a woman:

Is this because it’s the right thing to do as dictated to by society?
Or because she will be grateful to him?

I’ve heard such people they are usually Gorean and it’s usually more about the pride of being the ultimate slave than it is about being selfless.
