Status: offline 		one thats there to help me man the sails when the storm comes, because even though the water is calm right this second, theres is one coming...and eventually sooner or later, there will be another one behind it...life happens in three stages..
preparing for the storm
going through the storm
recovering for the storm
rinse and repeat

chelle who firmly belives that life is what happens while you are making plans...

Fine, I accept that, but what about a situation where the skies and waters are so calm, there's no storm 'round the corner? So you just sail down the river in a boat, and have a right old time.

Status: offline 		you're so cute and naive...theres always a storm coming...at least for me...if you want to contact me on the otherside i will tell you why...or find my posts probably around 4 to 5 hundred posts ago i think i posted about why there is...but there is always a storm coming...

Mine doesn't drink, and I hope he doesn't spend a whole lot of time in boats smoking weed.  And, I don't need a whole lot of guidence in the direction of understanding myself and my place in the world.  But, he is very social and I tend to be a little too serious and do need guidence in lightening up, self-forgetting and basic social interaction so I can serve his needs. So, I would say we fall into a combination of the two options with modifications for our particular situation.

For me, (as for now...for sure, it could change as i grow older) a good relationship is one where you have to let your senses free and enjoy the feeling of only *being* adding with that the intellectual roads toward fulfilling yourself and your partner cause you need to have that part also. Growing as a person and as a couple is a wonderful thing. He helped me understand so much things about myself, the world, sometimes without even realizing it...
but...as we are young and therefore, dont really have any responsabilitys and strings between us yet, it's more easy to live the relationship where the boat is leading us slowly down the road, not a care in the world, where we dont know yet where it'll lead us...
kind of exciting

Thanks for saying so - I believe this is the right relationship for both of us in terms of where we are in our respective lives.  He truly has helped me grow in ways I had never imagined.

Status: offline 		A combination of #1 and #2 with the stipulation in #1 that not only is he guiding and helping me but I am doing the same for him. It's a partnership afterall. As for #2...there is always time for fun and relaxation and not taking ourselves too seriously every minute of every day. A day without laughter is a day wasted.

Life is difficult at times, and too much work and not enough play is not the solution: best to find a happy medium rather than a person think themself into an early grave, or attempt to set themselves personal ethics/morals that can't possibly be adhered to in the grand scheme of human existence/frailty (unless, of course, you're a masochist and want to lay the foundations for a lifetime of disappointment).
