Breakfast was 2 eggs 2 pieces of toast not buttered or jammed, an apple, and a cup of juice.

snack was 5 crackers with a tiny smear of penut butter.

Lunch was odessa's low fat stir fry, no ginger sauce just a bit of soy sauce.  sometime today I had a soda and another glass of juice, not all at once, and the juice I drink is low sugar.

Snack was home made bread, course 3 pieces was a bit over kill

so nothing else till about 11:30 then I had one more piece of home made bread toasted with a thin spreading of brummel and brown yogurt spread.

I am trying to make more healthy choices in my life as well...what did i eat yesterday? Hmmmm..

breakfast- oatmeal w/ no sugar just a lil skim milk on top  and a piece of rye toast no butter and coffee

lunch--- an organic apple granola bar and a Fuze drink- i lov them

dinner--- i made black beans w/ rice and pork but "I" ate a salad consisting of purple cabbage, yellow peppers and some chicken- it was delicious..

i was bad, for a snack i had some pistachio icecream..hey, you only live once!

Jersi, the dietician I spoke with in class said not to think of certain foods as bad or as off limits, because you can have ice cream if you wish, just pay attention to what the serving size says, if it says 1 scoop have one scoop, and realize you might not make your weight goal this week if you had icecream, and realize you might have to work harder on your exercise.

She also said don't cut out entire groups of food, there is no bad food vs good food. She also recomends a diet of 1800 calories, and she gave me a menue plan thingie, it shows you  how to have all of what you need, for breakie snack lunch snack and dinner then snack. I could scan it and email it to you if you'd like to see what kind of recomendations she listed for the sample menue, for me it helped me know that for instance 2 tbsp of penut butter qualifes as protien.

I am sure also you don't have to eat the exact menue she had, you could mix and match using the guidelines.

Very sensible yhma. It's mostly about portion control. Gold star to everyone who ate healthy today (I don't get a gold star. I was a bad girl).

im a total health nut... I went to the doctor for my yearly physical. My blood pressure was high, my cholesterol was high, I'd gained some weight, and I didn't feel so
hot. My doctor said eating right doesn't have to be complicated and it would solve my physical problems.

He said just think in colors; Fill your plate with bright colors; greens, yellows, reds, etc.
I went right home and ate an entire bowl of M&M's and sure enough, I felt better immediately. I never knew eating right could be so easy,
okay so maybe im just a nut lol!! (red)

ya'll don't eat enough....if i ate that little food i would start gaining weight again...
my food intake today pretty standard for me...and i have lost 75lbs so far doing this...not changing anything else, but eating more of the right stuff...based on south beach diet...  weird hours today though...and ate my meals backwards...lol
Noon: sesame chicken lunch split in half, ate soup and egg roll with the lunch and no rice and as mentioned half the chicken
5pm: other half of sesame chicken and about 1/3 cup cooked rice
11pm: 2 eggs with cheese, 2 pieces sausage, 2 slices raisin toast with apple butter, hashbrowns with cheese, and a waffle (probably could have used less syrup or sugar free syrup due to my diabetes...whoops?)
but...this is my normal caloric intake for a day...and i have lost, like i said 75 lbs doing this....and with the last 30 lbs 4 dress sizes...i don't know where the first 45 lbs came off of, but i was the same dress size...maybe thighs and shoulder? lol...anyway...i figured out why i wasn't loosing weight and in fact gaining weight in spurts after talking to a nutritionist at the drug rehab....i was starving myself when i was on drugs, and then binging when i would rest, and my body would hang on to each and every calorie i took in because it didn't know when the next one would come...but...its crazy...eat food, until you're full, all day, and you loose weight? yep, it works....just has to be the right foods...south beach diet outlines them...i skipped phase one and just read the phase two stuff and designed my own nutrition style...no diet, no plan...just the right thing to eat - not too many white foods: pasta, potatoes, rice, white bread, and not so much saturated fats...try whole grains and unsaturated fat...all the protein you want (cheese sticks and jerky and nuts are great snacks)...but don't forget to eat the carbs with the protein, just in moderation...balanced......oh and i eat slowly...so i actually know when i am full...i dunno....its what works for me

Yesterday was absolutely piggy compared to normal. I usualy only eat once a day if not at all, and then when I do eat it's something like a p udding cup or a can of soup, or crackers, cause I just don't feel like fixing anything.  Not eating enough is actually my problem

"Not eating enough is actually my problem "

Same here. I went on a hyper-Adkins years ago and my stomach shrunk. Also I try to eat only once a day. As such I try to make it count.

Last night I had a double meat antipasta salad (that means with lettuce etc.) with chicken strips added. The only carbs I got was from the case of beer I drank. (jk)

If you think you don't eat enough, fine, but I think most people eat too much. Plenty of people though have their metabolism in high gear. Their digestion is sped up as well and I think that is a bad thing. Your food has a long way to go before your body gets all the minerals and other nutrients out of it. When you slow the process down a bit, I think it works better.

I used to eat like  pig, but many fasts later and a whole lot of changes has made me this way. I can comfortably skip a day now, even three. I don't fast anymore because I do not have to, I have achieved my goal. Unlike most 47 year old Men I am not gaining weight, and I have all my teeth and (brown) hair.

So if you think you are not eating enough there must be a reason, do you feel run down ? You need to eat enough to cover your current energy expenditure, any more is either excreted or goes straight to your (insert too fat body part here). Literally, I do eat more on days when I am more active, I let my body tell me when I am full.

And although I seek out flavorful foods, I do not relish in that flavor. I believe many people have become slaves to their taste buds, it is hard to get them to even think about nutrition. They say "But I like this", as if that is a valid dietary concern. Put it this way, everyone I know with a sweet tooth has alot of tooth problems, and that is only IF they still have any teeth. Last month a buddy of mine, NINE YEARS MY JUNIOR had to go to the ER to get a tooth pulled because it may have killed him.

But he has to have his candy and his sugared drink all the time. In the meantime I don't even have to brush my teeth. Of course I do clean them with my tongue, but others cling to what the dentists say, brush constantly and all that, even if they're only brushing one tooth. It didn't dawn on them that it did not work.

If you are a minimalist eater like me, I think we are onto something. The process might not be perfect, but to eat less but eat well sounds like a valid plan doesn't it ?

This attitude has led to a prejudice in me. Not a really bad one, but when I see someone who is obese, my first thought is that they cannot control their impulses. What would any sane person think ?

Now here is the problem with that, perhaps it was years ago that they gained the weight, and maybe now they have grown out of the oral stage of development, but are stuck with this spare tire to fit a Mack truck, and cannot lose it. They could be eating 1,000 calories a week and still lose it very slowly. That is the biggest danger, once on it tends to stay on. To those who really have changed and are fighting the results of their past, I have to apologize for my prejudice, but if you weigh 350 pounds and I see you eat a whole large pizza, what other conclusion can I draw ?

Either way, that is why the training should start early, never get the spare tire. Parents should never use any form of food as a reward or punishment. And if the kids are getting fat, feed them less. Conciously avoid sugar, although you can't do that 100%, something is better than nothing. Conciously avoid table salt, and the earlier you start the easier it is.

Many of us came out of households where the Parents had misguided notions about what is healthy. But with all the misinformation out there, and yes it was that way 50 years ago as well, how can you expect them to make the right decisions ? What I mean is that in many cases they DID make informed decisions, but the information they recieved was not good. Therefore the decisions were flawed, and we have grown to be the fattest, most unhealthy country on the planet, with the highest medical budget and the most drug use.

I believe that if one does not have a physical labor intensive job, one meal a day should suffice. Just make it a good one.

I think, since I blew all my money last night, I'll dig through the freezer and make a nice stirfry tonight. It has been awhile and I could stand some rice. Been about a month since I had rice I think.

I'm simply just not hungry most days. there for I choose not to eat. Skipping meals and constantly not eating is bad for weight loss efforts. So is the poor food choices followed by the despreration to eat when I finally do choose to eat.

The dietician thinks my body's  stoped sending hungry signals untill the need to eat becomes dire, meaning, I am ravouness I am shaking I feel dizzy i feel woozy. I know all that, and I'll see about eating more.

I often feel run down and tired in the evening and there's zero real reason to feel that way cause in most cases I've had a nap already, which yeah it can lead to feeling like shit, but not usualy for me.

ok, so I wouldn't say there's zero reason to feel that way, not doing anything all day not eating at all or not eating properly, is probably why I feel so run down and tired.

Today wasn't sch a healthy day, I had toast for a pre breakie snack then about 30 mins later had bacon a scambled egg two pieces of toast  potato bites, which mom cooked  in entirely to much olive oil. she uses like two cups of that damn  stuff. an ice cream bar for a snack dinner was meat loaf made out of diet ground lean meat, which tastes awfull, two large helpings of mac and cheese, two pieces of eggplant drenched in olive oil and a soda. I'm starting to pat dry things she drenches in olive oil to get some of the oil off.

I do however give myself kudo's for ignoreing the desire to have a huge bag of butter plus popcorn, and more icecream.

ummm ok....so i am 24 too...and i live with my parents and very often i don't feel like cooking...but my health means a lot to me...so i always have in stock a few south beach frozen dinners and "pot pies"....it doesn't depend on someone else to cook for me and they are balanced meals that take a few minutes to "cook"...speaking of which, i need to eat...so...i dunno...there are ways to do this without  screwing yourself over...if you really want to...email me on the other side and we can maybe talk on messenger about day to day stuff?

I recently had weight loss surgery. And I have reformed my eating habits. I have learned that the most important thing about weight loss is PROTEIN. Oh and getting lots of fluids in. I on average try to get in 60 grams of protien, but you also do have to watch the carbs and sugar - sugar now will make me very sick. I have lost 60 lbs since july... but heres what I ate today I would have to say it was pretty healthy.

Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg with cheese
Lunch: protein shake
Dinner: some tuna salad
I have also drank about...5-6 bottles of water today.

chelle my mom cooks for the whole family, not just me, so most times I fix my own stuff like odessa 15 min stir fry or a can of soup, but she does take it apon herself to feed her whole family  at least once or twice every few days:)

edited to add, she likes my bf a whole bunch so she tries to cook something we can all eat before he goes hom:) she says your gf may not feed you but I will , he said she wanted to go out to eat.
hehe which is true I did.

I try to stay away from frozen foods tro much cause they have way to much soduim, I looked at my cans of soup I love , and there's 900 grams of soduim, the stir fry has 550 grams of soduim, of course I don't cook I don't like to, so I do try to find stuff that's better for me. I used to eat hot pockets and pizza rolls and microwavable taco's drenched in cheese and ranch. I lost a bunch of weight when I stoped eating those and cut out sugary juices.
