This question is for the other ladies, do you feel ovulation when it happens? Do you notice changes in your body?

I notice a difference in perspiration & scent and my roommate says she actually feels
different in the area of her ovaries.

Regards,

Feel it? Yes. The Germans call it "Mittelschmerz" (sp?). "Middle pain", meaning it occurs in the middle of the cycle. Sometimes its mild, other times its bad enough for a few hours to make using the bathroom quite painful, and once caused me to double over in the middle of the sidewalk (had to pretend I was tying a shoelace...LOL). And of course it alternates sides......

Most of the time, yes.  Specially when it's my right ovary.  Mostly it's just an aching in the area and a slight ache in my breasts.

Oh and hugely increased sex drive to become pregant.

Ditto above; I get this pain on one side [normally early in the morning for me, and it keeps me doubled over at times, kinda like having cramps, but on one side] and any man who I might be remotely attracted too, makes me aroused, so I avoid as MUCH contact with the men I work with and focus on MJ; if I am gonna be aroused I should be aroused in the right direction.

Yes I often feel ovulation, as sudden severe cramps, generally one-sided, which mercifully don't last as long as premenstrual ones. Sometimes the pain radiates though, and I can double over. The whole vulva hurts and it can be painful to sit down on it (so getting it in the car is a bitch!). I used to spot a bit too, but after an endometrial ablation some years ago (basically My endometrium got "nuked" to try to reduce My periods, worked fairly well), I tend not to spot any more. Sometimes I am also very well aware of the "egg white" mucus secretion that is symptomatic of ovulation (its detection is part of the ovulation method of contraception). Some months I give off a whole (hens) eggs worth!

From what I gather, not everyone gets to feel ovulation. Some are not so lucky LOL! However, the one advantage is that no matter how irregular the first "half" of My cycle, I can start counting from ovulation and know when to expect the snarlies and then the onset! Always good to warn others!

Yuppers. I'll have mild cramps on one side for a day or so.

As odd as this might sound, whenever I'm ovulating... I get horribly nauseous and have bad heartburn, especially at night.  It's really odd.

I also get... um... okay, how to say this without sounding like I'm providing monkey-spanking fodder... screw it.  I get a lot wetter than normal.  MaamJay referred to it as "egg-white secretion" and that's what I'm sticking with, as well.  I learned the hard and embarassing way to not wear light pants if I've got that going on.

And my sex drive goes through the freaking roof.  Then again mine is usually pretty high so that's a bit harder to notice for me.

I have always felt a mildly sharp pain on the right side when it's that one's turn.  It never lasts long, but I always know it.  I've never felt anything on the left side, though.

I always feel mildly sharp pains on my left side, and never my right.  Chymes, do you have my other ovary?

Added note with regards to the mucus secretions: At other times of the month, the mucus around the cervix is thicker and stickier, as a natural barrier to incoming sperm (DON'T rely on it for contraception though!). At ovulation, your fertile time, the mucus changes to being thinner, clearer and less sticky ... the look and feel of raw egg white. And it may traverse the vagina and end up being wiped off on toilet paper etc, whereas you rarely "see" the thicker cervical mucus. That's separate from sexual secretions which are produced lower down ... but yes, they are also inclined to be more abundant around your fertile time too, and libido increases. Basically your body just wants to be pregnant!

I've had the doubling over pain also, once in college in hit while walking to class the professor saw me go DOWN, I still gave my presentation and he stood up in class afterwards (not knowing what exactly had happened) and said I was getting an A for simple getting the job down and not being a baby.

Other than being incredibly sexually aroused, I don't feel anything when I'm ovulating.  The men around me seem to notice, though.  I get significantly more male attention when I'm ovulating than when I'm not.

i also have severe pain in whichever ovary is at work at the time. It's worse when it's the left side. It can last up to 24 hours. And my sex drive is unbelievable.

No, most of the time females cannot feel ovulation.  Most everyone in this thread appears to be talking about when they menstrate and get cramps.  That is not ovulation.
People are even referring to both ovaries ovulating...while that is not what is happening either.
We have a dominant ovary which does the ovulation for most of our life.  Whether it be the left or right one.

"In the absence of pregnancy, production of oestradiol and progesterone begins to decline approximately 7 days after ovulation and this results in shedding of the endometrium as menstrual bleeding 11-16 days after ovulation."

When you ovulate your hormones do change.  I definately do believe a change in smells, etc could happen.

Actually this is totally false. Many women can feel ovulation and it has nothing at all to do with menstruation or cramps. It happens for me right smack in the middle of my cycle, right before my temps go up and when my vaginal secretions are much increased. i have no idea if it's true that women have one dominant ovary. It's not true for me, mine alternates each month.

If you read something about family planning, you'll find all that information pretty easily.
