ClitCutter -> RE: Men afraid of successful women? (9/24/2007 9:10:27 AM)

Couldn't agree more.  I am bored by a totally obedient zombie pain sponge.  I like some intelligence & spunk.  Of my most recent subs/slaves: a barrister in the 2nd largest law firm in Houston,  an actress/playwrite/historian, a Woman Marine DI, 2 successful entrepreneurs, a neonatal ICU flight RN-acute&chronic dialysis RN-cardiovascular surgical care RN (all in 1), a porn star, and 1 nuclear physicist ... NONE of THEM were boring.   Nothing likediscussing string theory as I tie strings tightly around her nipples :-)

I have yet to meet a mature self confident man that felt threatened by a sucessful woman. Although I would also assume that the woman would be of equal maturity......which does not automatically come with sucess.

Anyway, I have come across women who own their own businesss, in charge of a workforce of mainly men, dominant in her position, Yet they desire submission when 'off duty'.I suppose in much the same way as all those politicians and captains of industry who seem to get exposed by the press doing something the press feels they should'nt.

Did you buy it or inherit it? going up on the roof doesn't mean you can carry bricks. It's not credibility.

I bought a company that was going under and merged it with my smaller one. If that makes any difference whatsoever.I've carried bricks hon, I've laid tile, I've carried shingles up a ladder and put them down, I weld, I've painted, put up drywall, I drive a dumptruck and a backhoe. I've done my share of "man" work since I was 10 years old when I started working with my Dad and as far as I am concerned I earned my stripes.  If you don't agree well it really doesn't make any difference to me thats your issue.

If a guy has a problem with this and I don't then who has the problem? I look at it this way if a man feels threatened by me thats his baggage and I don't want to be bothered with him. I would think a secure man wouldn't really care if the woman he was dating made more/less/same amount of money as he did as long as they had a decent relationship.

Then you are the exception, not the rule. I'd still love to see you carry the same load as a man for the same duration and intensity. Frankly it's just impossible and suggesting so defies common sense. It's an unavoidable consequence of boilogy that men are physically stronger than women, Period.

Maybe you need to open your eyes sometime , I work as an autoworker where less than 10% of the workforce are females, with a current workforce of 2,500 but we do the exact same work as the males, I have spent 16 hour days working to double shifts were I was slinging tires and rims and stacking oak pallets as we emptied them for the full 16 hours,  the current job I am doing  is loading truck door parts so the robots can weld them together which I do for 4 hours a day every day , half the guys if they are forced to do more than 2 hours a day  are screaming for the union  wanting to do a work refusal saying the joy is too hard or they run to medical to get out of doing the work  and yet I have  watched small petite women less than 5' do that job  for 8 hours straight, I have reroofed part  of my own house before going to the store buying and loading all the shingle into my van myself and than hauling them up of to the roof on my own which took me about 16 hours to complete and also have helped do other homes before .  And I am pretty sure Lashra has  had to fire  a few of males that were unable to do the physical work at the intensity or speed that was required in her business that she is able to do , physical conditoning plays a far greater  role than size when it comes to manual labour , it is alway fun when I have to train some men  who are half my age and built like a bull moose to do a job and watch them fizzle out after a couple of hours of doing.

I'm retired military so I have all that "success" and "job politics" crap behind me.
Financially I'm "comfortable".
If I were going out with a woman who made a lot more than me I would be very supportive of her career and success.
Why wouldn't I be?
Hell, I'd be her biggest fan!
I'd want to see her do well and excell in her career field or business.

Yeah but this is more going into simply laziness than a true measure of actual physical ability. Although a woman may be better at a particular job, I think we need to examine that a bit closer. Is she better because she truely is better or is she simply just one of the few willing to put in the effort? Not everyone is willing to work 16 hour days although most are could do it if they wanted to or had the ambition to do it. Perhaps that is a management issue.... Part of being a leader on the job is to make sure the people under you have a positive attitude about the job. Happy employees increases productivity. Employees who hate their boss, hate their job, or are depressed for some reason will naturally not produce as much as someone with a positive attitude and who enjoys their work.

You would think during a date you would be proud to tell your date the major accomplishments of your life, right? Well more and more women according to this article find they have to dumb down their accomplishments a bit in order to make sure their male dates dont get scared and run away.

One woman in the article says that her last boyfriend broke up with her because he "felt uncomfortable" living with a woman who makes more money than he does.

The income gender gap may be closing soon as more women than men are attending college and entering the workforce. Polls consistantly show women do not value men by the size of their wallet as much anymore. A poll in the article showed that 75% of women would rather have a relationship with a high school teacher who has a lot of time off, than a surgeon who makes a fortune but is always busy. Men as a whole may feel threatened socially by this type of thing according to social psychologists.

Although I know in a forum like this, this question/topic may not make much sense since power exchange is a "norm" to most here. But do you think men fear a woman who is successful? And to women here....whats your experience with this type of thing?

I debated replying to this and read through the whole thread first.  A few comments:

Personally, I don't care who makes more when it comes to myself and my partner, as long as the bills get paid.  That's why we work, in't it?

On a broader perspective, I know men on both sides of the fence - those who can handle the woman making more, those who can't.  We all know why that is...social conditioning.  Laws have been drawn up time and again in the past few decades, and most are scrapped for the simple reason that reverse discrimination can feasibly rear up its head.  That's what convinces me that no law or enforcement can 'force' social conditioning to recede - only social reconditioning can, preferrably at lower, small-community levels.

That's also from a North American standpoint, and, as such, I advise anyone reading to consider that while -we- might not like it, other cultures, older than ours, may have other ways.  Imposing one social order over another rarely succeeds, and the cost [often measured in more ways than money] ought to be considered.

I would also point out that it doesn't matter what gender you are - if you're a leech, you're a leech, and that's not gender-specific, it's personality programming [also socially conditioned, so you encounter the same headaches and benefits as the aforementioned...]

There were also a few comments banded about regarding physical strength.  I can think of several ways this doesn't apply; if you want to get into the physics of it, have a weight-lifting contest between a male midget and a six-foot woman.  There are always physical constraints for everyone.  Take the same example and add in the condition that the midget has hands, while the woman has lost hers in some freak accident...I'm thinking the midget will lift more...

Finally, I'd add that anyone, regardless of gender, who has to bend the truth to get accepted is hunting up the wrong tree.

Keep in mind...newspapers, magazines...and television are there for one purpose:  To sell soap.

The minute I can find a woman to take care of me in the style I've become accustomed to....I'm in baby.
