~fr~ I agree that personal hygiene is extremely important but must also take exception with the notion that poor personal hygiene is the cause of all yeast infections. They can be caused by any number of things including antibiotics, corticosteriod medications, certain birth control pills, tight-fitting clothes, pregnancy, uncontrolled diabetes, douching, and deodorant tampons. Also wearing wet swimsuits for prolonged periods, being post-menopausal, as well as having any condition that causes a person to be immunocompromised, such as cancer or HIV/AIDS, increases a person's risk of developing yeast infections.
