ORIGINAL: mathiasdomm I've made a rod to use like a rafter for making them stand on their toes, and I suppose you could use it for suspension. Sounds like a nice design for some purposes, but no bloody way would I rely on two shower curtain rod brackets to suspend anybody. I've torn down my own shower curtain rod completely by accident too many times (had my hand on it, pushed up a little, and POP!) to have any faith in the power of those brackets. I don't trust the rod either, come to that. The rods I'm familiar with are like extremely thin-walled pipe, and with a little effort you can bend them with your bare hands. I'd want much stronger materials and a much more secure attachment system -- something that bolts directly into a stud, a joist, or concrete. [Edit: Whoops! I misread the post! It was closet rod, not shower curtain rod. Those brackets and rods are designed to hold a lot more weight. I'm still dubious about the L-shape though.]
