The collar and restraints picured in this website are amazing and sorry to say their prices are to, but not in a good way. $1400+shipping for a collar and wrist/ankle restraints!!! I have do a little metal fab in my life and through my limited experience it seems like a very high price to me. I like anybody else would expect to pay for nice quality gear, but $1400! I could buy alot of other things with that much money.

Has anyone seen similar products anywhere else on the web?
Any metal fabricators think they could tackle for less $$$?

What you are paying for isn't just the time to make that item but the fact that you will have to put up with people whining about it for months before y ou sell it, time you could have spent making money.

As soon as I get caught up from being on vacation, I'm going to work on a new collar design I thought up while sitting in the desert... with some cold Adult Beverages.

shopping around is the best ,also seeing the workmanship infront of you VS an Online pic of the product is another selling point .As i also sell stuff not metal items at this moment like your wanting , i have heard people saying i have been looking for this or that for years .Sometimes its best to find what you want and then when you find said item get it . All that time years spent looking to save a few dollars is not worth the effort time and gas . you coulda been already playing with your new widgit . I am in no way saying hurry and run out and spend too much for a toy that is not worth the money but when ya do find it grab it and enjoy .There is a guy in AZ dungeon delights he sells some neat metal , check it out .and good luck !

You get what you pay for.
So 1400 for a five peice (seems to be designer) set. Lets see... If you were buying a "collar" to present to a slave as a life long collar, in my mind that is the equivilant to a weddin ring, frankly the ring I wore cost twice that so....
do I think it's too much?

well i am no metal or price expert, but that appears to be quite simply four small chunks of metal, and 1/4inch cable. the collar looks cheap to me, it looks like some kind of homemade shed collar. the cuffs are pretty cool though. they are what you would be paying so much for, all the welding and milling and designing takes a lot of time with metal. still seems kinda high though. if it was a more detailed collar i would say it is worth it, i think the collar brings it down.

lol, I pretty much agree with wnt2srvu, (VadFarkas, I really like the 'Iron Maiden'. *evil laugh* just might order one from ya, in a few months) I would be more inclined to ethier make it myself, or get a friend (lifestyle friendly that is.) when it comes to something like a collar, I would be more inclined to make it myself, or have a friend that is skilled in welding and such do it. (and lifestyle friendly.)

You get what you pay for is not necessarily true. I would say that you pay for what you want and how badly you want it.I would never pay any money for a Picasso but would pay plenty for lets say a cool old car or bike. It's all in what price we place on something we want. I put a lot of time effort into making something right and charge what I think is fair and realistic. My mom used to knit afghans blankets and gave them away because something like that could never sell for the hours and hours she spent making them.Hopefully in the end you do get what you pay for without getting ripped off.

if you can't afford it...get something different....stop trying to devalue an artists work because you are cheap...VadFarkas could make you something in your price range that would work out great....but it is not going to be a replica of that collar and cuff set...i'm pretty sure he would charge you a pretty penny to recreate that...shipping might be a little less though because he is in the USA...

I find it disturbing and appalling that some consumers in our society feel the need to whine bicker and complain about prices. Every one has become a Wal-Mart shopper. The problem is, Wal-Mart shopper mentality has devalued everything, and has left the impression that everything can be bought cheaper.

I too am an artist. I am not a sales person. You either like my work and willing to pay what I ask, or you don’t. It really is that simple

Same here,quit doing armor last year-due to new companies moving in that made no profit-just devalued the market completely. If an artist cannot make a living doing something-they will find something else to do. They have to eat and pay bills,just like everyone else. If people want the quaility gear to be ofered,they need to be willing to pay for it-or watch it go away.

i don't aspire to make a living doing large metal sculpture...i am not delusional...i am currently at wanting to be an art teacher though...oh wait...a regular job is delusional...stupid seizures.....

The most expensive set I found on that site was EUR 379 which is roughly $550. Even so, different manufacturers are going to charge different prices (just like non-kink products). Granted, many kink items tend to sell at a higher price than non-kink or non-sex items but that makes sense if you understand how to properly price a product based on supply and demand (basically, people are willing to pay much more for sex items, alcohol and addictive substances like tobacco). Also consider that kink items are only appealing to roughly 10% of the population, so the manufacturers can't exactly price for volume and expect to feed themselves. I would advise shopping around just like you would do with non-kink stuff especially if you are on a budget. For all you know, you just walked into the equivalent of a Porsche dealership and didn't bother to look anywhere else. I will put in a second recommendation for Dungeon Delights. I know the guy who is the owner/operator and have seen his work (I own several pieces) - great quality and reasonable prices (especially if you understand exactly what goes into making metal items).

i have had experience with metal, i am not an expert, but that collar is the cheapest looking thing i have ever seen, its made out of 1/8 inch cable. the cuffs are definently worth a pretty penny. but as someone said before, some things are worth more to some then others. the cuffs are cool, but none of it really appeals to my taste. obviously it appeals to the OP's taste, otherwise he would have started this thread. but to me i wouldn't pay $140 for it, letalone 1400.

Keep in mind they are an artistic style set, you are not just paying for the metal but for the art design as well, that design belongs exclusivelly to that artist who crafted it, you cannot nor should not be asking for someone to re create for you for less. as it would boil down to thievery/forgery. On their making of page they showed to proceedure to make a handcuff that began right after breakfast and was completed at 6pm so roughly 10 hours per piece or 50 hours labor for one set, how much do you earn an hour? once you break down the labour time, a machinist in the US would earn around $30 hr, cost of materials the actual profit earned really is quite reasonable

Altho I don't consider myself an artist, I do take pride in what I make.I would never copy someone else's work and didn't get the impression chellekitty was implying that I should do that. I was a model maker for inventing studios for over 30 years. In those years there were many parallel developments of items by other inventors but one never copies someone's work on purpose.As far as the pricing, I have as much time if not more in a cuff as I do in a collar, yet I charge less because of perceived value. People erroneously thing because it is smaller it should cost less.Bottom line is that some folks have a champagne taste on a beer budget but that doesn't mean that the champagne maker should sell by the 6-pack.

Sounds like something I was going to say a la Smokey Robinson & the Miracles. I mean, $1,400 for a collar and cuffs?! Shoot, I could buy at least 4 or 5 spanking horses for that much cash!

Art is the issue here. And there are alot of artists in these forums (who do wonderful work by the way, I wish more of them had their sites in their siggys!). However, and this is coming from someone who WILL spend hundreds of dollars on artistic pieces, 1400 dollars on a collar/cuff set does seem quite high to me. I am aware that there are people out there willing to spend it, and I would say if you are not willing to spend it find another artist and commission them to do the kind of work that you want, but be aware that a commission is generally more expensive than something off the rack. Also, never expect any self-respecting artist to copy someone elses work, thats just...well...I dont use bad words when I can help it. I hope you find what you are looking for, and happy shopping.
