It had as an example one where the Dom was clearly wrong. I called myself Mr. Moron and pointed out the correct conversion.

The obvious question is:

When a Dom/ina is clearly wrong on a matter of fact, not opinion should subs stay silent? I'm not talking about a Dom/ina saying Motzart was clearly superior to Bach, I'm talking about something like the boiling point of water.

My own view, if you are really dominant you can admit your wrong when confronted with the facts. (Again, I'm not talking about a long winded argument "proving" Ted Williams was better than Joe Dimaggio. I'm talking the equivelent of "usually the sun sets in the west."[:)])

Please reply

This is a message board for everyone, sub, slave, Dom, Domme, or switch. There are no rules about who can say what to who. I think that any Dom who has a problem with your posts probably thinks of themself as superior to any sub. They can't believe that a sub could be smarter than them, or have anything of worth to contribute here. They need to be corrected. You are actually doing a public service iwill. Keep it up.

iwill,

I can't figure out your poll: What's the question?
Is it "does iwill pull doms' chains?"
or is it "should a sub stay silent in the face of facts?"

Can you put your question ABOVE the poll buttons, please?

Anyway, to the question, "does iwill does pull doms' chains?" I say YES. But that's a far cry from saying, or even implying, you have no right to an opinion.

I agree with Estring, anybody who thinks they are better than anyone else just because they gave themselves a self professed label...well they have serious issues within themselves.

Aside from that in a vanilla world, most people like genuine intellectual conversation.
How often do you find that? Seriously? Most people I talk to tell me they haven't had a conversation that deep in years. Of course it is rather rough on them. Mentally draining.
Well worth it if you ask me though.
Also, fact is we are all wrong from time to time. It takes someone with some sort of substance to admit they are wrong.
However, if you look up. Those who cannot admit it...well they have serious issues within themselves. Why waste time on them? So many other people out there could use the attention.

I think that was Voltare. Sam Adams said (paraphrasing), "If ye love not liberty go from us now in peace and may your chain weigh lightly upon you." He also said, "Pilsner? Pilsner??? I want a better glass of BEER." (OK, I made that one up with help from Sam Koch.[:)])

There would be no chain to pull if one wasn't hanging out there; and that, my friend, is not on you.

People, with no more personal responsibility than the average active drunk, that would accuse someone else of having control over their emotions have no right to call themself dominant; therefore, you have not offended any dominas.

Leave the cackling to the crows and continue to sing to the full light of day. It looks quite good on you.

topcat -> RE: I just got an e-msail accusing me of "pulling Doms chains (7/3/2004 6:20:14 AM)

The answer I actually wanted was

"submissives should be obscene and heard in the next county" <g>.

If someone can not take some correction, they shouldn't be handing it out. I haven't seen your posts cross the line to what I'd consider rude, so my comment would be that anyone who objects to it needs to learn a bit more about life before calling themselves a 'dom'

Stay Warm,
Lawrence

HAHAHA Lawrence,

I think we both know a dominant woman who qualifies on both of those counts! Hahahahahaha

<----nodding in agreement with what others have posted

I, personally, prefer to be corrected if a fact I am stating is wrong

as far as chain pulling goes, fuck em if they can't take a joke - I learned early on that you need to be able to laugh at yourself at least as often (if not more often) as you laugh at someone else

its sad, but I used to jokingly say, when asked why I was talking to myself, that I wanted an intelligent conversation - what makes it sad is that nowadays it seems to be one of the few ways left to actually find an intelligent conversation (present company most definitely excluded)

Apply usual caveats here

Thanatosian,
I would be honored if you ever wanted to chat. If you ever come to California as well. We would be happy to show you around. Take you to a party or two. Dungeon or two...munch or two. Whatever you'd like.

In response to that joke I often say that saying "where did I put my car keys" is not crazy. Saying "Satan tells me though microwave oven to kill bald men" is crazy.

(Sorry, Estring, nothing personal.[:)])

Sundew02 -> RE: I just got an e-msail accusing me of "pulling Doms chains (7/3/2004 10:10:20 PM)

I don't care for the word confronted, but letting that pass. I usually say thank you when a sweet male gives me a corrected version. As a matter of fact I tend to enjoy discussions where all in the room are involved. Each stating their point of view and why. My definition of discussion-lively debate, no bloodletting, but claws out. laughing. >:D< Sundew

Mondschein -> RE: I just got an e-msail accusing me of "pulling Doms chains (7/5/2004 5:24:08 PM)

I agree. People should recognise mistakes and be glad someone can tell them about their rights and wrongs. If not, you'll keep talking crap for the rest of your life. What a shame!!! [:D]

M Gloria -

if I ever get 1. the money, and 2. the free time to visit california I would be honored to accept your kind offer(s).

and again, was not referring to these boards with my comments, but more the 'real life' conversations that take place day to day

be well

If you give yourself the right to correct others, you have, at that moment, given them the right to correct you.

Simple.

Just a quick note that the quote actually reads "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." It was actually said by S. G. Tallentyre, which is actually a pseudonym for the write Evelyn Beatrice Hall who wrote the book "The Friends of Voltaire" in 1906, which is where the quote is from. Hall later claimed that she based the passage on an essay entitled "Essay on Tolerance" written by Voltaire. Ironically a quote frequently attributed to one of America's Founding Fathers originated from a French philosopher.
