Our vocabulary in the '70's was so rich and generation-specific. 'Right on!' (agrees vigoursly.) Groovy (loosley translated as would appeal to someone stoned.) Black Power! [Fist in the air] (probably self-explanatory.) Turn on (something appealing, usually a sexual attractrant.) Make love, not war (seems self-explanatory.) Cool (various meanings, all good.) If i thought about it i could go on; doesn't seem to me today's slang is as rich and meaningful, and i sure don't feel silly saying it like i should as an over-30. pinksugarsub

pinksugarsub, I've said all of those at least once. and I was born in the 70's. hmmm I can't think of any slang that is current. Oh wait, scrub......yeah I like that one. of course I don't know if it is current. lol!

I use the term "Right-on" alot daily and I even as recently as a couple of weeks ago called someone a "Jive turkey" does that count as an "old term"?

Gravy or cinch meaning easy type instead of key toady - someone would is doing favours for their own benefit gofer - running errrand over and above their duties reefer, mary jane or doobie for marijuana joint someone left the barn door open meaning pant zipper is down boot being trunk of a car

Damn gremlins! They're always causing somthing around here to break down. I'm an elementary teacher, and one thing that drives me up the wall (along with some of the other teachers) is when kids say, "So and so cut me." I'm like "No one cut you. I don't see a knife. You're not bleeding. The term is 'so and so cut in front of me!!'"
