Commas too.

yes...on these boards, when you critisize someone else's typing, you have to be sure your own is perfect...and i am not sure if it was mine or someone else's you were commenting on, but if it was mine, it is been my long standing statement that i don't give a flying rats ass about capitalization or punctuation on these forums, yes i can do it properly, but i choose not to...it says nothing about my intelligence just my choice to communicate idea's rather than my typing skills...

take care
chelle

ownedgirlie -> RE: pain and its warning signs to watch for (12/29/2007 10:43:33 AM)

Interesting comments about equipping oneself with knowledge, remembering lists, and looking things up.

I will just say that last night in the middle of something rather mind-boggling, I had an intense pain in my upper right abdomen, making it difficult for me to exhale.  I had no idea what was wrong, but it was a sharp, extreme pain.  I didn't think, "Hey let's stop this activity a moment so I can go look it up."   I thought, "Oh fuck fuck fuck, strong, sharp, abnormal pain and I think something is seriously wrong."

I mean it felt like I blew out an internal organ or something.

Despite my head reeling and hardly being able to talk, information that my brain had already wrapped itself around came to the surface - "Something is wrong; this pain is not normal."  and before I knew it, I was crying out (however slurred), "I hurt something, I hurt something" in a bit of desperation.

Now, what's wrong with learning about different pains?

i am not trying to be better than any body....but because i am aware of different types of pain due to the constant pain i am in, the types of pain i like to play with and various injuries i have had including nerve damage, i have had moments in the middle of a scene where i have stopped and said "that nipple clamp is getting to the point of bad pain, if you leave it on longer i will loose complete circulation in it" and then continued on with the scene...that may just be the way my brain works, being able to compartmentalize the scene for a moment while i inform him of what is going on - like saying yellow, and telling the Top whats going on then continuing with the scene, oh wait, that is exactly what it is.....

having knowledge is not stupid...and being a submissive or slave does not negate your responsibility over yourself...that doesn't mean he shouldn't learn it either...you both should, so if all you can communicate is "it hurts, burning," he knows it is nerve pain...

Those of us with existing nerve problems have possibly learned to feel the difference. Perhaps the people who poo poo this info have never experienced nerve compression or carpal tunnel syndrom or been injured in play. I agree, communication is important and a caring and sane Dom who can check his ego at the door. I have had ongoing communication with Dom's that I have played with in shibari and other bondage. A small change in position is usually all it takes. Me pointing out how this position is affecting my knee, wrist etc. makes me a good submissive. Communication about my well being and giving feed back makes me a good submissive.

Bingo.  It allows him to know if something is being damaged or if you're just in a funky position that needs to be changed.  Your knowledge equips him with knowledge, because he can trust you have actual, real information that you are relying on.

That's why Mr. Wonderful stopped immediately last night.  Because he knew I wouldn't be hollaring like unless I was convinced something was actually wrong.

lol, thanks.  He has ordered me to always tell him when I think something is wrong, even if I feel bad for interrupting his entertainment.  He once said, "You have a fiduciary responsibility to protect my property on my behalf" which I just loved, lol.  He helped develop this noodle; I would be disobeying him if I didn't use it.

I Know! And it doesnt mean you are not a masochist too! There is good pain[sm=hewah.gif] and then there is bad pain[sm=mad.gif].

Luscious lips,

I was also a massage therapist.

I have one thing to add from Jay Wiseman from one of his bondage seminars and it's very simple:
Good pain is Good!
Bad pain is Bad!

He said that all of the research he knows about point to the above 2 things. So, his advice is: Ask the sub while bound:

Are you feeling this as "good" pain, or "bad pain"?

The tightness, etc is not even an issue when you ask the above.

Thank you for your valuable input!
One more thing I want to add. You cant just ask at the beginning of the bondage. The sensations may build up over time. For instance, there is a limit of time to how long a rope bra should be worn. So if something is bound tightly you have to keep asking.

I know how you feel. I have constant burning due to overuse syndrome. So my wrists burn at a drop of a hat. I love tight bondage put I need to be very careful of positioning of my wrists. Nerves can regenerate to a point. But it is very slow.

If you're going to criticize others you had better be sure your use of apostrophes is correct as well as your spelling. It's apostrophe and let's.[:)]
