ORIGINAL: DomKen I'm goddamn tired of being called a liar. Here is the text of the 2005 Sanctity of Life act (HR 776) as written by Paul or his staff: *see below please. The pertinent section defining human life is <snip> I'm not calling you a liar. I'm calling you misinformed. You've decided who, what, and how the man is without having done your homework. Paul's stance on things doesn't follow traditional liberal or conservative lines because, over time, we have shifted our political expectations from personal responsibility, to the Federal Government. When a child trips and falls in the bathtub, instead of blaming ourselves for being bad parents, we blame Uncle Sam for not instituting federal housing codes on requiring non-slip surfaces in the bathtub. Paul represents a very old political concept of personal responsibility. That big government, is bad government. That big governments pander to the military-industrial complex, that tells you to worry about Iran, when our own military aggression abroad against our corporate ideology is the very reason we have become the target for terrorists. The point is that Paul's personal stance on abortion, marijuana, or even civil rights have nothing to do with the office he's seeking. His opinion, so consistant that he's earned the nickname 'Dr. No' is that the the federal government shouldn't be in the drug, housing, abortion, or environment business. That's why we have state legislatures; do you even know without looking up, who your state senator is? The constitution was established with the understanding that there are no 'one size fits all' solutions to government. This is why we even have state lines to begin with. Stephan
