I have always wondered about a question asked of me when I was a child, maybe some of you have heard it.....

Why do we park in driveways and drive on parkways?

Seriously, who comes up with the names for things? Is there some Naming Corporation out there? Aliens? And at what point do people vote and say, yeah I want to call it that too?

Why's a keyboard not a button board? Why is a flashlight not a steady light? Does history really mean his-story? If supernatural things happen all around us, just on a 'plane' that we are not cognizant of, doesn't that mean that they are actually just natural? What is so 'super' about them? If American Indian are Native Americans, blacks are Afro-Americans, and Hispanics are Latin Americans, the what are whites?

*ramblings of a bored mind*

The terms Driveway and Parkway are from the horse and buggy days.  You would literally drive through the park in your buggy showing off your dress or whatnot or courting.  So the parkway is the way through the park.  You would then go home and drive up your driveway and then park so that your servents could come out and put yout horse and buggy away.

Flash light ~ it makes a light all of a sudden.

No, history is derived from Greek and means learning by inquery.

The "super" in supernatural means above and beyond.  If something is supernatural it is above natural law.

Irish-American, Scotish-American, British-American, et cetera.

It is a keyboard because you press the keys up and down like piano keys.

Do I win a prize?

What a dumb question Aylee.

You can have me.

Is that a good prize?

Aylee -> RE: Ask the stupidest question and answer you can think of game? (1/10/2008 1:32:02 PM)

That is a great prize.  Ghita is going to be SOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous.

Does this mean that we can go be mean togeather?

trappedinamuseum -> RE: Ask the stupidest question and answer you can think of game? (1/10/2008 1:43:25 PM)

Well, apparently I am already a mean young person who doesn't know what I am talking about and uses sarcasm and insults and....*sobs*

I don't know how I live wif myself.  I should end it now.

What do you think?

Aylee -> RE: Ask the stupidest question and answer you can think of game? (1/10/2008 1:46:54 PM)

That it is another case of a mommy with a computer who thinks that lack of education is kewl.

Also, that for some reasons she thinks she has a right not to be offended.

Also that everyone's opinions are equal.

Also that she spends too much time watching the talking heads.

Books are not an evil.  Really.

...I once had some neighbors who were from South Africa... does that make them South African Americans?  They were white, by the way.

EvilGenie -> RE: Ask the stupidest question and answer you can think of game? (1/10/2008 3:00:40 PM)

No because most, not all, South African whites are either Dutch, English or German ancestry. So they'd be Dutch South African Americans and so on. Just call 'em folks. [:D]

Make that blueberry fetish thingy for 2. I know of someone else.[;)]

Because it is a term that refers to the hanging bell used to alert people inside a house that there is one or more persons on the outside of the front door.

With the advent of electricity, people could just press a button for a buzzing sound.  In the 1960's many doorbells had solenoids that hit bells or chimes.

This is the never ending question that my friends and I are still pondering from our highschool days back in the '80's:
"Who exactly are the downboys, and where did they go?"

AtlantisKing111 -> RE: Ask the stupidest question and answer you can think of game? (1/10/2008 8:53:29 PM)

Hmmmm.  Stupidest question ...  "What is a question?" might qualify.

addisonclarkgirl -> RE: Ask the stupidest question and answer you can think of game? (1/10/2008 9:00:01 PM)

When we have visitors at school, and they say, "Does anyone have any questions?" there are always kids that want to tell a story rather then asking questions.  "One time..." or "My dad..." or "I know..."  So we always tell the kids questions are when you want an answer back.  Does that answer your question?  [;)]
