Of those that like to have music during a scene, "which type gets you goin?"

For me it would have to be either The Cruxshadows or Wolfsheim, depends on my mood.

If we are doing a rather intense scene, I love to listen to Garbage #1 Crush. It is perfect for a sub and I personally enjoy listening to him pant and moan (scream) to it.
If we are just taking our time and gently playing, I like to hear Al Green or Marvin Gaye. Nina Samone gets me going too. Any kind of soft jazz or blues is perfect.

When we have music playing it is largely the same rock music that we both enjoy on a day to day basis. Usually it's XM's Big Tracks (I think that's the channel name) if we're at her house or just a collection of similar music I have on my system if we are at mine. Nine Inch Nails and Enigma are fine on occasion but they've been done to death in fetish circles.

If you're into really moody stuff I might suggest the soundtrack to Passion Of The Christ.

Soo true. I found that the project/program/website Pandora can really help with new music, you just put n a band name and voila, it starts playing stuff from that band and similar bands. As far as POTC goes, I really wasnt looking for suggestions, really just curious.

It depends on the scene. Angel by Massive Attack, Clubbed to Death by Rob D... Otherwise, System of a Down.

We have two favorites:
  • Buttboy  (Album is "Best of Buttboy")
  • Tony Barre (Album is Barre parts)

Both are mainly instrumental and electronic type music.  Master hates scene music with words!

ok so we're silly....we generally put the cable on the music station "soundscapes" or jazz.

it doesnt lessen the experience for either of us.

depends on what mood i'm in. i like classic rock some nights, other nights i like  pantera, SOAD, NIN, rammstein, etc, bands with a heavy rhythm. i tend to get into the right headspace with a decent rhythm going. but i've also scened to the history channel so who knows.

with music, it is hard for me....  i'm very music oriented and when i hear a song from high school or college my mind is instantly back to what i was doing when the song was popular....so a lot of music doesn't work for me because it distracts me.  anything new to me is great, but mostly i dont' like music in the back ground during a scene....maybe i just haven't experienced the right music yet, who knows.

Miss Morrigan already mentioned Angel by Massive Attack. i would say any song(s) from the Mezzanine album. They are pretty much all dark and brooding.

I adore the soundtrack to "Queen of the Damned" for heavy scenes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dz3XYiHcUY "System" ~ I love the "groove" to this song..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0mcr261Jfs  "Slept So Long"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSxnE0EZP6U "Forsaken" ~ this is a overview of the whole movie to the song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4I5biByt3P4 "Before I'm Dead"

Jazz and blues for the lighter stuff, or medieval style music. ( Love digital music soundscapes on cable, we use that a lot around my house! )

Here are some we have found as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0s5UOVsMDg  "Perfect Drug" By NIN ~ My Pets song for me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qkbAg-m0QQ  This is just sexy! "Love to See You Cry" by Enrique Igasias ~ can we say a Dom/me song or what? This is my song for my Jamie.. I love making him cry for me.. he is so precious when he cries.

MissMorrigan mentioned this one.. and it is in my faves list as well! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZsHNkAJBDU "Angel" by Massive Attack

There is tons more of course... but this is a good start.

Gwyn

My scenes tend to be a bit more moody, rather than just thrash and bash... so I go for a lot of "new age" or "space" music... I find most of my titles by listening to/recording "Music From the Hearts of Space" on NPR. The stuff they program during the fall is especially appropriate, dark and meloncholic.

For lighter impact play, I'll go for seminal techno, like "Eat Static" or "Gulf Breeze" It keeps things moving, without a lot of lyrics to distract from the scene itself.

Then, there's music from the movies:  Mix CD's made from tracks of various films have always gone over well... Lot's of Bernard Hermann, and Jerry Goldsmith and Shirley Walker and Danny Elfmann (the "Nightbreed" soundtrack, especially)

Oh, and a recent discovery is Jill Tracy. She has two albums out that should be in any goth/BDSM collection: Into the Land of Phantoms, and Diabolical Streak.
