All it means is that they don't haven't downloaded the free software offered at this site:

http://www.iespell.com/

Warning - It doesn't check for proper word usage, grammer, or even grammar.

After you have this software good spelling is only a 'right click' away.

Horse - here's the water, the rest is up to you.

Of course , we all make mistakes but, when i see a lot of spelling errors

it makes me think not of being lazy. instead i think of moving to fast and not being

careful. Those traits i wish to avoid

^_^ Some consistent spelling errors make me smile. Like i have a friend who constantly misses the word "taunt". They mean to use the word "taut" but they always write it "taunt" and it always makes me smile inside 'cause i think it's cute. ~ Another friend miswrites the expression "To all intents and purposes". It's clear by the way they write it out that they have only ever heard the expression spoken and they "misheard it". They always type "To all intensive purposes" ...heh... and i like their idea of intensive purposes....... :)

It reminds me of when i was a kid and my step-dad would gripe about the electric bill. Whenever i left a light on in the room he'd say "Stalking the electric company" .... OR.. at least that's what i thought he was saying. It's only when i was an adult and he happened to say it to my much younger sister that i caught it right. He'd been saying "Stock in the electric company" ... (but anyway.. i got off topic there -pth-)

Thank you so much for the smile! I laughed out loud when reading your post. Not in a derisive way. Because it is truly funny. And very true! And it is cute in a child. Even the grammatical quirks of a dear friend can be acceptable.
When I was a child I attended parochial school. We sang a Hymn "Hail Holy Queen". The first line is "Hail Holy Queen enthroned above". I had never seen the lyrics (as a 4th grader) and we learned by listening. I always thought the words were "Hail Holy Queen and thrown above" and I always got a picture of the Virgin Mary being thrown over a cloud by two angels. True Story! I promise!
But My ear gets very irritated by things like "He done it"...or "I don't know nothing". And it is far too common for My comfort. I question our educational system.
I agree that I would tend to read sloppy profiles and sloppier emails (and even a few atrocious posts I have seen here and there on these massage boards) as laziness and also a disinterest in reading. Reading is very important to Me. It is the best way to hone your skills as a writer and a speller. It improves vocabulary and might even make you think!
So when I see consistent misspellings, poor grammar, and chat speak, it tells Me that this person could be lazy and limited. It also shows, to Me, a lack of pride, or a sense that these things are not important. In spite of the fact that the newspapers have been dumbed down to the fourth grade level, most people still get their news and entertainment from television. And there are many "role models" these days, who use poor grammar and dress inappropriately. I think all these "role models" are doing a serious disservice to those people who will never attain those same heights that allow this type of personal freedom. Those "role models" don't need to apply for a job. The young people who do apply for that job and then don't understand why they didn't get hired have not been forced to face the fact that you need to lose the backward baseball cap and the jeans and t-shirt (as well as the nose ring, the tongue ring and the eyebrow ring) and comb your hair and put on a nice shirt and invest in a pair of dockers. We just keep lowering our standards because we can't have a dress code or be politically incorrect by refusing to hire a customer service rep who can't string a decent sentence together and didn't know how to dress for an interview.
If that makes Me a snob...so be it!

You are exaggerating, are you? I simply cannot imagine someone coming to some serious job interview in jeans and with a nose ring. Although I do see young women (and some not so young) here in Germany dressed in things that females in my country wouldnt wear for the farm work. I always shudder when I see something like that.

i don't remember if i chimed-in here before.....

but i figure it two ways

one i am TOLD the outside world as-a-whole---EXPECTS you to spell correctly.
no one it seems likes or appreciates my hillbilly backwoods act........so when i get all down-home folks get flustered and then i get ticked.

SO
just to head it off-----
i guess it is better to soothe their tender little egos and let em have it their way since the world as-a-whole has ZERO tolerance for single headed folks like ME!

and it makes Mistress happy too.

woofie, it might be fun to start a "slang" thread where all we Americans who cannot understand one another, as well as European and Aussie and other people could contribute. i'd love to see yours.

So, I guess the question is this; is poor spelling a good indicator of intelligence or lack of it? My personal opinion is that we have the option to spell check via Word first. Maybe its more a sign of laziness?

When you are in the beginning stages of e-mail and message communication...you are just getting to know someone. Shouldn't you want to be putting your best foot forward? If you do not take pride in your self and pride in the things you do....why should anyone else. I myself would never make reference in my profile that responses to me should be properly spelled....but when reading responses, a response with numerous words spelled incorrectly will stand out in a not so good way.

Peace,
cathy

In the case of a Dominant utilizing poor grammar and spelling - if he is careless about such on initial contacts what else might he be careless about...you perhaps?

I wish I was exaggerating. It is really sad to see. I have taken more than one young woman or young man in hand and dressed them for a job interview. First we had to go shopping!

This is he second time I started a thread and after a day or two forgot about it. Only to come back weeks later to see it buzzing at the tune of 5 pages. Wow. Which means Im way behind and just spent a half hour catching up on all the replies.

I don’t think its necessary at this point that I respond further than saying thank you for all the great replies. My question was most certainly answered thoroughly. I apologize for not revisiting here. I thought the matter was put to rest a day or so after it was written.

Spell checked for political correctness

This will be my last post on this thread
Thank you again

It's no exaggeration. I've interviewed young people dressed in sloppy, baggy jeans and more facial jewelry than I could count. And more than once I've asked those individuals what made them think that was appropriate attire for an interview for a desk job.

I have nothing against piercings and tattoos, but the image of the company must come first, and many people don't seem to understand that.

Laziness. Typos don't bother me too much, most interesting people are busy and don't have time to check everything, but when people constantly send me completely unintelligable or lazy one-line emails... not everyone can spell, but anyone can use a spell checker. You can't help but think if they can't be bothered to write to you properly, can they be bothered to dominate or train you properly?

Recently i just got two one line emails, the first one said "cock avaliable to dominate you." Wondering if he was checking to see if i would reply before writing any more, i sent a brief reply, and he wrote back with another one liner.. no surprise, it went straight in the trash! The next week i got another one saying "well do you want to serve me then" lol.

And if they don't understand why they got no reply...

trying to be nice here-------

some of us--have only owned t shirts and jeans all of our life and do not buy any shirts with collars. some of us downright refuse to change.
if i have-to do someone's dirty grunt work..i am showing up for the interview exactly like i would be at work. why bother? what ya see is what ya get.

but it's just MY way.
