Pro-domme is prostitution and I don't have a problem with either.

Two things about that business piss me off.

Pro-dommes who think because they don't have sexual contact they aren't having sex and are somehow better than those who do.

Whining customers who bitch about high prices and yet whine about socialism.

I agree with both Michael and SilkyRopes.
There are all types of people in this lifestyle.

At the end of the day, it is all about what
the "market" can handle.

I don't think every Professional Dominant is a prostitute.
But there are prostitutes that call themselves Professional Dominants,
that is what causes a lot of confusion.

Trained and skilled Professional Dominants unfortunately are often
thrown in the same category as prostitutes.

I do think Professional Dominants are in the sex related industry,
regardless of whether they have sex with their clients or not.

IMHO, whether or not you have sexual relations or direct sexual contact,
most of WIITWD is sexually charged.

I believe that many (not all) of the so-called pro-dommes coming in now are just looking for an easy way to make money, and they see that these fetishes bring more money that straight prostitution, so they role-play, and call themselves whatever they want.

I know a lot of prostitutes (we tend to use the same advertising venues), and they make a LOT more money than myself and other pro dommes I know.  They have much lower overhead since they don't have to buy fetish furniture, equipment, etc., and they have a higher hourly fee.  From what I've seen from inside the sex industry, prostitution is where the money is.  Or stripping.  I'd be a lot richer if I changed my work habits, but that's not going to happen.  Newbie pro dommes come into the industry thinking it's an easy way to make money, then quickly discover that staying in business means a major financial investment.  Surprise!

That is a good point...
Cost factor. As clients interest in differnt fetishes increases , ou would have to buy or get training in some way to consider those interest or else not offer them.. And from what I have seen, most people  don't start with all the equipment and attire from the begining.A host of differnt toys and furniture come over time as many prodoms invest in their business..

I have to ask what the deal is with these people who are all fascinated by the money side of pro domination.  Are we reporting our income?  Can we make a living?  Why aren't we just stripping or fucking?

Why this type of curiosity?

I will say its not so much the moneyside  for me but more of an interest if competion,( like many industrys) ,is good or bad for a Prodom.. I think , if anything , questions out here  help to open up ideas and aspects of life that some of us may never though  of.

I do start to see that many who take their carrers seriously, do not like the hooker with a whip comparison or that they  may not really understand what it takes to be a good Prodom

Socialism?

Government vouchers for (psycho)sexual satisfaction. All doms to be licensed by the state. Black market flourishes....

if you put it out there, someone will buy it

why do you think places like craigslist became so popular... one man's trash is another's treasure

as for "the market"

Absolutely not-there seems to never be a shortage of submissive or just kinky men who want to scratch an itch so to speak then go back to their vanilla lives.  It is a unique relationship that many want to condemn-that is of course your right, I prefer to be very open minded about human sexuality-I find it is highly complex and this fascinates me rather then repulses me.

By the way-all the "lifestyle people" trying to define what it is we do-pros don't really give a damn , the ony definitions that matter are legal ones which differ state to state and personal boundries we set for ourselves.  Anyone engaging in an  erotic activity for money is in the sex industry and we are not tearing each other down the way people on the outside of the industry do.

This is just my insight based on the many actual relationships, conversations and interactions I have had with very well known pro-Dommes, Escorts, Kinky Escorts, Strippers, Fetish Models, Porn Stars.......I thank the op for soliciting our opinion
