No... it is only as unfair as you allow it to be. Your life is your responsibility and as such, if it is seeming to be unfair, then maybe it isnt 'lifes' fault.

Peace and Love

As I told my children "When you were born, someone 3 to 4 times as big as you were hung you upside down by your feet and slapped you, did that not tell you that life was not going to be fair?"

People have to get over the misconception that there is some great scale weighing our lives and balancing out the misfortunes with the good times. Life is neither fair, nor unfair, life just is. We have to make it the best we can.

Someone walks over and kicks over our sandcastle, so we go over, kick their sandcastle and steal their shovel, so it escalates until we realise that the tide has come in and both sandcastles are under water.

Life was not fair to Mother Teresa, Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Terry Fox and countless others, but they achieved great things anyway.

I may be 55, but one of my favorite songs is "Raise a Little Hell" by Trooper, do a google search on the lyrics, you will see my message to everyone who feels like life is unfair or they got the shitty end of the stick.

Great point LadyShoshin,
but we were just saying life is unfair (some days), not in any way (I hope) preaching bend over and take it graciously. [:D]M

Life is like a pork chop.... You either enjoy it or it makes you sick... Your Choice!

smilezz -> RE: Unfair (9/3/2005 6:13:51 AM)

Life is what you make it....good or bad, regardless of what is going on around you...or the universe.

Lief is a lesson and we all have our own ways of learning it. Unfair or not, every situation allows you to gain more knowledge, it's how you chose to use this knowledge that matters.

IronBear -> RE: Unfair (9/3/2005 8:23:45 AM)

Life is a series of learnings and tests. It doesnt matter if we pass the tests, what matters is thast we make the attempt. there is no right or wrong, that is how we perceive them. What also matters is that we learn from all the lessons life has to offer including perceived set backs... Life has an interesting habit of pushing you to break point.

slavedesires -> RE: Unfair (9/3/2005 8:29:12 AM)

LIFE is a magazine, that TIME takes, FORBES controls and GOOD HOUSEKEEPING has advice on. PARENT gives advice on the CHILD, KIDS has fun stuff to make life fun for the little one inside the adult, while INQUIRER gives fodder for idle gossip. TV GUIDE wastes your time, so i wonder if there is a magazine called UNFAIR, oh right! There is VANITY FAIR.

"Meaningless! Meaningless! says the Teacher. Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless!" But there is wisdom in meaninglessness, pleasures, folly, toil, riches, oppression, friendlessness, advancement .....
All have a common destiny.... "The end of a matter is better than is beginning, and patience is better than pride."

Life's a journey with an unknown destination....

"Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let not your hands be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well."

fair is balanced with unfair......... which side do you prefer?

Life can be un-fair. Its a simple as that. Sometimes you cant change what is happening to make it fair.....

OscarHargraves -> RE: Unfair (9/3/2005 9:45:25 AM)

Life isn't fair ........ or unfair. Life is what you get when you're born. You can make the best of it or lie around and moan about it but it continues on until you die. How you deal with it is your choice.

EmeraldSlave2 -> RE: Unfair (9/3/2005 9:55:55 AM)

Life is what it is. When my aunt died young with no health problems at all leaving her 11 yo son and 16 yo daughter in the hands of their alcoholic father who was in the process of moving out at the time- I really can't consider life "fair."

But fairness and unfairness is something lthat depends on your rubric of life. If you ACCEPT that life will be horrible and sucky at times and that, for no comprehensible reason at all, shit will just fly at you, then you can stop living in terms of "fair" and "unfair" and start living life in terms of "doing what needs to be done and trying to get my fulfillment."

Everyone's still entitled to an occasionally "Unfair" tantrum, as long as they don't let it become the theme of their life.

pinkpleasures -> RE: Unfair (9/5/2005 4:59:27 PM)

Obviously, terrible things happen to good people, and wonderful things happen to bad people. From that standpoint, life is unfair. It is unfair to the homeless, the single mothers trying to raise their kids on minimun wage, the dying child.

It is up to us to hold fast to our faith, believing that there is a reward for goodness here in this world -- the feeling of being ethical -- and in the next. There is also much suffering neddlessly caused by comparing ourselves to people in a better position, personally, professsionally, or otherwise. A great deal of calm comes from letting go of those comparisions and thanking God for the blessings in Y/your life.

After Y/you die, who will mourn Y/you? Whose life did Y/you touch and elevate? Whom did Y/you help? If we spent more time asking these questions, and answering them, we'd find life is much more fair than at first glance.

I said life's not fair once, when I was growing up. This is what I was told.

What's Life?
A Magazine...
Where do you get it?
At the newstand...
How much?
Ten cents...
I only got a nickel...
That's Life!
What's Life?
A Magazine...

Gauge -> RE: Unfair (9/6/2005 6:39:21 PM)

I must have missed in the rulebook where it was written that life was fair. I gave up living life a long time ago, now I live day to day and I enjoy things more each day. I kind of think that any day I am above ground and upright, and able to take nurishment as a blessing and that I shouldn't squander it.
