Then we have the "Hit and runs". This is when someone will post a comment or two that is hurtful and done is spite and then leave the thread, never to be seen again in that thread. Come on, if you were brave enough to post on the thread to begin with, at least have the decency to come back and defend what you said. I have VERY thick skin and have no problem debating something, I happen to love debates, but if the poster comes on and post a hateful comment and then leaves, how am I to defend my words if the chicken shit leaves the thread? I, too, get tired of sifting through the bullshit happy banter to get to the heart of the thread. When I hear someone say to the OP, get thicker skin blah blah blah, I want to scream in defense of the OP, but it isn't my place to argue the case for the OP, unless of course *I* am the OP .

In closing, I will say this, if you don't like the name of the thread or you don't like the content of the thread, ignore it. Just surf right past it if the only thing you can do is make your stupid little jabs and then run. It is pointless. I realize this isn't going to win me any brownie points from the "popular girls" but frankly, I don't give a shit. I have friends, I don't need any more, especially those who can't or refuse to moderate their own actions.

ETA: I have been known to throw in my own jokes here and there, but I am talking about full hi-jacks, not an occasional light comment

The group I playfully refer to as the CollarMe Women's Auxilliary seem to feel most every thread is a welcome place for their insessant off topic chat with one another.

Otherwise known as the Bigmouth Submissive Collective - though you may avoid that particular group by joining more 'arrid' discussion threads. They tend to not frequent those as assiduously :-) .

Someday I want to take a vote and determine who these popular girls are.

and if it's like the r/l world have the people on the list won't realize that they're popular in the first place.

I highly suspect that would be the end result.

I admit to it. I admit to with no shame. I'll derail a thread as fast as I can if I can find the words that will do it.
However, my reasons for doing it are not to make fun; to shame; or to make the OP look the fool. My reasons for doing so are my own. Some people know my reasons; some don't. It matters very little to me.
I have been warned to not do it anymore; I guess some posters feel threatened when they can't keep up with the heat in a thread.
/shrug
Each to their own.
I know where I stand. And it's easy to see where others stand at times. Either way, it really matters little to me.

i remember beign told by one of my professors that i was a 'leader' in one of my classes because i said things that other people wanted to but didn't have the 'strength' to speak up. my response was, why is my inability to keep my mouth shut something that makes me a leader, especially if they don't feel like speaking up in the first place? the world is strange place sometimes when it comes to who likes who and why or why not...

This is subjective. I have heard many comments that have been directed right at the OP to insult them. You can call it whatever you (general) want, but I know an insult when I hear it.

Oh, I think you know who they are. Just surf a couple of threads that have been hi-jacked and you will figure it out. I could name names if you would like, but I doubt anyone needs them listed.

Oooooh..I love the use of the word assiduously. It is so wonderful when we utilize all the words at our disposal from our extensive lexicon. I am curious now as to which of those "arrid" discussion threads I may have been missing.

Do they use more of those words in those threads? And when do they have the meetings for the Auxiliary group? Do we get cloaks? If so, green goes really well with my hair.

When push comes to shove, there appear to be only a few topics that get repeated over and over and over again.Since the price of admission here is a decent internet connection, I don't feel responsible for the dangerously stupid. In many cases, the OP presents a " question: and the belittles the advice. It is not my job to give affirmation to any knucklehead who posts here. Serious posts usually receive serious responses........even from the .popular girls

okay just because i seem to be in 'debate' mode this afternoon and don't really give a flying f*ck if i get flamed at this point...

yeah but who are you/we/anyone to determine what's a real live serious thread? is there a list of acceptable serious topics somewhere?

i dislike the dangerously stupid as much as teh next person but i know or at least have a sinking suspicion that there are several people here view me as one of the dangerously stupid, as there are several people i could use that label against as well. so be it.

Now see how easy it is to hijack a thread about hijacking threads?

It's the same as sitting at a table and trying to introduce a new topic of conversation and whoever you are talking with go "Nah, we'd rather talk about this instead." Hell at least hijack keeps the thread alive and I've gotten some interesting responses to my threads because thread hijack kept them alive and on the first page.

It isn't the same thing at all.  It is much more akin to a couple of people sitting at a table trying to have a proper conversation and then another group with their own agenda comes to sit at the same table to have another conversation, talking over the original.

I wrote this as part of another thread that I started that isn't going to get read because, well, because it's boring (it's about the anniversary of the first Oxford English Dictionary...I know, yawn). But it might work here:

Our exchanges are heated, engaging, smart, infuriating, interesting, funny, pathetic, ironic, meaningful, emotive, visionary, commiserating, foolish, passionate and, let’s face it, for the most part they are the extent of the interaction and connection with one another almost all of us will ever enjoy. So let’s do. Enjoy….the words.

I've been dismayed by some of the things I've read, and I've been dismayed by some of the things I've written.

But in getting back to the words, I think it just suits me better to look at something and think to myself something like, "god what a twat," or, "that slut gives sluts like me a bad name," or, "cripes that guy will never be the kind of Dom I'll bet his mother is," or "at least he's not just dim...he's dull too," or just random fun like, "knob," "tool," "mouth-breather," "fetus"....you get the idea (and I'm having a little bit too much fun here).

No, I can't do anything about what anyone else posts. I would say for the most part most of us don't know each other well enough for anything said to be intended, or taken, personally.

I am sorry for folks who don't enjoy the CM boards and I hope they will stay. :)

I have never considered you to be stupid...... I don't know about dangerous...:) In a reasoned debate, your point would be vaild. In reality I think most people can recognize a thread that seeks to only affrim what they want to hear. One that comes to mind was a recent thread about abduction and rape. It went on for pages and the OP kept insisting on having it his way. If any OP  doesn't really care what people think, why post asking for advice? Speaking for myself I will mock mercilessly at that point. There is nothing  to be gained by not mocking, since there is no real desire for  knoledge...........and it amuses the hell out of me...:)

That would be nice if it gets enforced.  I have noticed people using hijacks to end discussions they are being shown wrong in.  The other neat trick is to explode in rage and insults and get the thread removed entirely.  There is a difference between hijacking and a discussion moving in a new direction, but it is subjective, and would be a nightmare to enforce.  Kudos to the Mods

Subjective like this?

Honesty and saying what you mean on this forum apparently is an underrated attribute.

And, so is being witty, although wit is subjective as someone pointed out, which is cool.

As for me, I will continue to remain that way and like IrishMist, sorry if you cannot deal with it. Grown ups usually can agree to disagree without freaking out or running to the Mods.

At least I thought so.
