Hellooooooo, for the umpteenth time, She has a program called Jaws that reads what She types--as well as Her placement on the keys.  And as a web creator, She can type while  never looking. You know, its amazing, the new milennium--blind people can type, deaf people can hear--and dumb people are still waiting.

You have obviously not read the thread. I have explain how I am typing and with what program. The program I use is NOT one that comes standard with any computer. It is JAWS. The link is on one of my post if you want to look it up. It is almost 1,000 dollar program.
Thanks for responding. You may find it interesting to read the entire thread, before posting your comments about what I can or can not do.

People please read. MOGA has said about 10 times now and in other threads how she's blind and using the pc. Please stop insinuate, she can't be blind, or how can she be blind if she's using a pc.

Oh sheesh. I have yet to see anyone on this thread use their handicap as an excuse for anything. No wonder your posts need to be moderated first before they are published. You type the stupidest things.

Me: But I have no choice but to live on the bottom floor, since I can't see! So I am left with no option but to rent a bottom level floor and I am being forced to pay higher rent.

Yes, and that is also the reason that *I* did not mention my other health problems, because I did not want anyone to mistake those for the reason why I needed a bottom floor apt.

Trust me pal, Im not stupid.

Well now, that is debatable, PAL.

I live in a state full of losers you have multiple problems that keep them from being about to work, but not stop them from traveling to over 500miles to sit in the heat and watch NASCAR all day.

Sheesh, which explains YOU. Now I understand. Say no more.
As far as working, I have worked my entire life PAL, and I am proud of the things that I have accomplished in my life. I started working when I was 12 years old in a cafe' owned by a friend of my mothers. I did not stop working til I lost my sight PAL, so don't give me that shit of how I use my blindness as a way to get out of work. I have worked longer than you have been alive, you lilttle shit.

Let me give you a few examples of just how far much you can overcome with only a little determination.

You know what? I don't need your examples of how much anyone can overcome with only a little determination. I can read on this very thread how much these people have overcome their handicaps to become hard working individuals who have not let their physical limitations over rule them.

A friend of mine was in a car crash, and because he was not wearing a seat belt(they put those in cars for a reason) he was thrown out the window. His spine was broken and one of his vertabrey was completely shattered. He was lucky to be alive, and acording to the doctors he wouldn't walk ever again. One year later he was the third best weight lifter in our school.
Last May I was shot in the chest 9 times and boint blank range with a 9mm. I spent a week in ICU and another three months in the hospital. That would have killed a normal man, and learning to walk again was no cake walk either.

Wait..Let me get something out for you......

I hope these are enough. You seem to be sitting pretty on your pity pot.

Goodness! For someone so young, someone has had an incredible lot of stuff happen to him. And methinks he is Superman in disguise - 9 bullets in the chest at point-blank range? and then blindness? Or  did the blindness come before the bullets?

Bully for you that you have such a fantastic body that can overcome such adversities with almost no aftereffect. I'm sorry that it took me so long to recover from gas gangrene, dying on the operating table, and waking up to discover I was minus a leg, couldn't feel the other foot, had diminished feeling in both hands, and couldn't read any more.

I had been a voracious reader for 50 years. Can you even begin to imagine what it's like to have the main thing that brought you joy taken away from you like that?

I worked for 35 years - paying my fair share of taxes (truth be told, probably more than my fair share). I tried to go back to work, but you know what? I learned the hard way that 75-80 percent of the blind and visually impaired adults in this fair country of ours are unemployed. Oh, there's always the excuse of "Someone else was more qualified." More qualified than someone with 35 years of experience? Tell that to the Marines!

So I'm in business for myself, doing what I loved best about my old career. And I'm not making any excuses about why I can't do this or I can't do that. I try, OK? I grit my teeth and I strain my muscles, and sometimes I can do it, and sometimes I can't . Old bodies don't recover the same as young ones. And certain toxins and diseases affect muscles and joints adversely. When you get to our age and can still bounce back from accidents then come here and crow about it.

SoW,
Here it is right here. He is bragging about his ability to heal quickly, well of course he can. He is 21 years old and according to his profile he is a master at everything he does. It is all manly man thiings like weight lifting, yoga and martial arts.
jo anus, I would love to know you when you are in your 50's or 60's. I wonder just how much bragging you would be doing then. Thing is, with each injury your body grows weaker, no matter how much exercise you do. I was in a major car accident when I was 19 years old, 30 years later I can feel when it is going to rain, due to the pain in my wrist, from where it was broken. I would give almost anything to go back and make my younger self slow down, stop smoking and just take better care of myself. I was very athletic and reckless. I thought that I could fly and run with the wind. I thought htat nothing could hurt me and I would live forever. Sound familiar? Yes, it does. It sounds like you jo anus. When we are young we do tend to think that there is nothing we can't bounce back from. It is a huge shock to find out we are human after all. I feel sorry for you. No matter how good looking you think you are, your ugliness comes shining through with each post you comment on. Here is a nice quote for you: "There is none so blind, as those who do not see". That is YOU. Look in the mirror next time before you start telling us that you could care less..and that what my pup says to you about what I can and can not do "falls on deaf ears".

Miss Harlet,
You have nothing to apologize for, even if you are being sarcastic, he won't take it as such. We have lived our lives as we wanted and as we saw fit. Let's just be glad that we have hearts, which jo anus seems to be lacking. I would rather be blind, then not have human feelings. What a waste.

Having a limitation does not preclude one even in the midst of successes from feeling human emotions, anger, despair, sorrow, sadness, --  and  yet the incidences of suicide among the handicapped are far lower than the non hanidcapped--hmmm wonder why that is?  And yet they are not allowed while those of us with none, wallow in our self pity--or point always outward with "you should, you should not, do this, or don't do that"

I am not here to defend MoGA or EvilGenie, or camille, I don't need to and they sure don't want Me to--

I am here to say, as long as we point that finger outward, we are far more handicapped than any physical limitation.

"let me not curse the darkness until I have lighted one candle"

MH,
First let me say that I apologize for not responding earlier to your post, I didn't see it.
What you have so beautifully written should be an inspiration for us all. I didn't know about the suicide rate being lower with handicap than it is with non-handicapped. I imagine that the reason for this is because, those who have been injured or born with a disability have had to ask so much of their families and loved ones, that suicide would be just the worst thing that they could do to them. Christopher Reeves explained why he didn't kill himself, because he couldn't imagine doing that to his son and wife. Suicide is the epitome of selfishness.
quote:

"let me not curse the darkness until I have lighted one candle"

Is this yours? Can I have it? :)

Love you!

I know that the post about being blind means you can't type has already been answered, but it really just blows my mind that people still think this way.

It just amazes me that some people think that you have to see to type.  Somehow, I always thought that I typed with my fingers.  No need for them to see the keys.  The little bumps on the "F" and "J" key let me know that I have my fingers on the home keys and my fingers know where the rest of the keys are.  In fact, if I stop to think about what I'm typing that's when I make mistakes.   Even if there was a reason that a person couldn't type, then there are many programs available that do the typing automatically.   Dragon Speak is one that comes to my mind as it is used by the specialist at school.   I know MoGA has said she uses the Jaws program.

Good morning everyone....... Im amazed at how many of us in the BDSM community have health issues that we live with day in and day out.  In a community that supposedly prides itself on being non judgemental .. and yes I did say supposedly.... it amazes me that the judgement and condemnation is still rampart.
Somehow we became ... lazy and less intelligent and whiney and looking for a handout the minute we could not perform to someone elses standards.... and then there is the infamous " but you dont look sick" .......Somewhere along the line we became people who no longer try their hardest to find what works best for ourselves.... and  " give up " because those that arent disabled know more about what we can and cannot do  than we do.

As if we didnt have enough to deal with learning to adjust our lives and to remain as strong and productive as possible and as independant as possible.  We are still worthy of respect.... worthy of love ..... and as intelligent ... as honorable ....and as trustworthy as we were before we became challenged by whatever the universe has thrown our way.

We dont ask for or expect special treatment..... we do expect the same respect you would give anyone else. We do expect recognition that we are intelligent. We do expect emotional support from family and friends... and we expect all of the above because we are giving it to those around us .. disabled or not.  We havent become less careing ... less supportive to others ... less loving .....we are still exactly who we were before we were given these challenges ...

We have to make adjustments to our way of living ... but not to who we are.

Sir does not look sick.  But He has arthritis throughout His body, diabetes, and kidney failure.  He has been abused more than once for parking in a disabled space, even though the mobility sticker on the car is clearly visible.

Last weekend the fistula access for dialysis clotted, for the second time in three months.  An attempt was made to unblock it which was unsuccessful.  We now wait to see the surgeon early next week to discuss other options (He has a vascath inserted in His chest so He can be dialysed, but we cannot do it at home as we were doing.... ).  I am so scared that we are running out of options, and I will lose my Sir too soon

And all He is worried about is me

MoGa, you have my utmost admiration   I am sure you have your down moments, as do we all, yet your love of life and your wonderful sense of humour shine through your postings.  My best to you and yours

Hi kajiramre,
Thank you for responding. My F and J keys are marked with huge bubbles lol so no mistaking them. I also typed 55 wpm when I had sight.
I am looking into the dragon speak program. I can't afford the JAWS program (900.00 +) and my free trial is almost done :(  I need to find something fast! lol

Thank you so much   We are coping, we have each other, and the nursing staff have been wonderful.

There was a man in the bed opposite Sir in the ward.  His fistula clotted as well, and couldn't be fixed, and he has even less options left than Sir does....but he still smiled and joked with us.  The strength of the human race continues to amaze me
