Ever noticed how the Flintstonesmobile is alarmingly similar to those paddle things that people use in the sea/on lakes?

I'm too short to drive practically anything... I can barely see over a dashboard and I'm dangerous enough on two feet!

I'm in awe of your gran! When I have seat 'enhancements', my feet don't touch the pedals, besides, I have zero road/direction sense... I'd never make it to any destination lol

The only car I remember being able to sit in/drive comfortably was an old Daf - til the wretched thing broke down, it wasn't worth expending two hours of frustrating energy to push it two inches

I would be happy to find a motorised tricycle, chromed, plenty of handlebar mirrors, little shopping basket at the back and I'd have to keep my hazard lights on!

Learn to bake. Problem solved.

I have completely cut out all corn sweeteners, after drinking two litters of Pepsi a day, eating store bought candies like Mounds Bars, etc.

It`s cane sugar or nothing.Boylan`s makes their soda with cane sugar and I`m making fresh iced tea everyday to sip on.

http://www.classic-daf.nl/history/racing.html  That's all I could find presently, GT. My father had quite a few cars and the model of daf he had was tiny, my head just a few inches from the roof, ideal for short-arsed women like me. I think in later years, DAF concentrated on developing their trucks.

Here's a better link: http://www.dafownersclub.co.uk/

Ohhhh I remember when cars had hoods bigger than the entirety of most new cars now.

Of course gas was less than a dollar a gallon..........

The SmartCar is also in the UK. I like the way you can interchange the body sections lol I'm not sure how safe they are though. Those old dafs are really old, I rarely see one now b/c they tended to be automatic and when they broke down, as cars invariably do from time to time, it was exorbitant to fix them. It was also a pain in the arse trying to push them. As small as they were, it'd take two rather large gents to push one. And then, on the other end of the scale, my father had an old american convertible, it was HUGE and couldn't fit it in two parking spaces!

Lucy! I can't believe that you remember the Reliant Robin! Only Fools and Horses hahahaha I grew up in Peckham until the age of eleven, when we moved to another part of South East London. Life in Peckham then was just how I remembered it in Only Fools and Horses.

My grandfather was a very large guy, 6ft and just as wide. He was huge and had a very large belly on him! One day, on the way to Peckham Rye Park, where he worked after his retirement, he walked out into the road without looking both ways, and failed to see a Reliant Robin bearing down on him. Being so large, he couldn't move in time and it hit him. I didn't witness the incident, but neighbours that did cackled for years at how my grandad remained standing despite being hit, and the Reliant Robin was a write off lol

GT, in those days, most people didn't bother with insurance - likely b/c they didn't have any lol

hahahhahahhah yesssss I can just imagine it,  damn you brush up against one of them and they would wobble, lol like a tricycle with a hood and an engine, and yanno talking about the three wheel bike? we used to have the local  crazy lady(complete with cats)  ride around the streets on one, complete with basket(usually with a cat in the front, and an umbrella in the summer) Nutty as a fruit cake she was, but she used to knit dolls clothes for all the lil girls in the street. ( I think I was all of seven when she suddenly disapeared.
I just downloaded "only fools and horses", another one of my old favourites:) good ol del boy.
aaaaaaaaah memorieeeeeeees
grins

OMG! We must have been neighbours without realising it! The crazy old lady with the cat, turned into the eccentric gentleman riding a bicycle (in Worthing), wearing a straw boater, red nose, glasses, dapper clothes and white gloves. He'd often give people the finger and shout obscenities as he rode past lol

I'm going to get my boy to d/l the Only Fools and Horses series now, thanks for the trip down memory lane!
