A gift, especially for those dominant women who love The Princess Bride.

I Picked the Bridges of Madison County, but i also love Pretty Women.

I can pretty much recite Casablanca word for word.  I voted for that.

Like Water for Chocolate was awesome, as scifi said.

Bridges of Madison County was also very good.

Roman Holiday was sweet, as was Sabrina, as was Breakfast at Tiffany's (pretty much anything with Audrey Hepburn!).

I think the classics did romance better than modern movies.

An underrated movie and one of my favorites:  "(Her Majesty) Mrs. Brown", with Judy Dench & Billy Connelly.

Edited to add:  Same Time Next Year was awesome, too.

The Notebook.
for me, it's hands down the ultimate romantic movie ever...

MistressHolly71 -> RE: "Greatest" romantic flick of all time (2/9/2008 10:31:27 PM)

The Princess Bride

MzMia -> RE: "Greatest" romantic flick of all time (2/9/2008 11:01:37 PM)

I can think of soooo many it is hard to pick just one.

But, "The Notebook" and "Love Story" have to be among my favorites.

I love the line from The Notebook..... "It's Still Not Over!", I say it often.

I just noticed BSB's answer, you beat me to it, but you have great taste! [;)]

I noticed that Attack of the Killer Tomatoes wasn't on your list...

Don't be hating.

This might sound sort of weird, but how about ConAir?  It's very, VERY difficult to make me cry because of a movie, but at the end of the movie when Nicholas Cage is reunited with his wife and young daughter he's never seen before, it is probably the most beautiful scene ever in a movie.

Speaking of Nicholas Cage, Leaving Las Vegas could make some lists.

And you have to add in that if you watch ConAir with a woman, and can mimic Cameron Poe's southern drawl (which is not too far from the one i managed to naturally speak without), you're very likely to get laid.

The Princess Bride

OH MY GOD! THAT IS NOT JUST THE MOST ROMANTIC. THAT IS THE BEST MOVIE!

My UM and i watch that over and over since he was 3. We never tire of that one! Good taste dude.

So do you say," As you wish" to your Mistress?

camille65 -> RE: "Greatest" romantic flick of all time (2/10/2008 7:44:04 AM)

Oh I just watched a beautiful movie last night, 'Mistress of Spices'. I highly recommend it, although it has no 'stars' in it and the producer is an unknown. It is similiar to 'Chocolat'.

badprofessor -> RE: "Greatest" romantic flick of all time (2/10/2008 9:09:01 AM)

The Thomas Crown Affair (the original with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway)
To Catch a Thief (with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly)

I don't really like the genre (or Romantic Comedies for that matter), but the two above cross over into things with a little more intrigue...

sunshinemiss -> RE: "Greatest" romantic flick of all time (2/10/2008 5:56:51 PM)

Ok, now for real.... Roman Holiday... Gregory Peck ohhhhhhh wow...

That and Casablanca....love those movies where the main characters always ... *can't say, don't want to give away the movie.
