...to this s. it means to be a slave:

- 24/7/365-ish
- total obedience (though thoughtful when necessary and not blind)
- no negotiating with Mistress
- accepting severe treatments of pain, humiliation, degradation, objectification as She desires
- ostensibly and unconsciously focusing my all attention and thought possible on Her ( vanilla demands notwithstanding)
- putting Her best interests above mine always.....and still making it work
- She has control over all aspects of my life as/when She wishes

.....just my view anyways..

I liked this as it makes a good point for me. I read this and thought yes, it does describe some people's versions of slavery. However, it also describes my subs version of submission. All that SlaveSubtoServe defines as slavery, my sub paul and I describe as his submission. Funny eh?

My view on the sub/slave definition thing is to boil stuff down to their only absolutely necessary parts.I like the concept of Keep It Simple Stupid. So, in this instance the only absolutely necessary difference between a sub and a slave is the issue of ownership. Slaves are owned and subs are not. All else whether it be how 24/7 or otherwise, how deeply committed, how obedient is all just stuff that individuals work out in their own relationships.

You cannot be a slave without ownership, that is all there is to it. I have yet to hear anyone make a cogent argument to refute this simple definition.

....and then 'ownership' is defined as - ????

OwnershipOwn"er*ship\, n. The state of being an owner; the right to own; exclusive right of possession; legal or just claim or title; proprietorship.

The slave vs. sub issue is a tired debate which continues in multiple threads with multiple posts on multiple forums with basically the same opinions reworded over and over again.  I think it's silly for adults to keep arguing over what type of fantasy life they're living.  We all know slavery isn't legal, so no one here can actually own or be owned by another.  Every time you do what you're told, it's a choice, whether consciously or unconsciously, because of free will.

That being said, my fantasy life may soon become reality in a few months.  Get this....I'll be a 24/7 little girl/slave/Mistress/wife to a Daddy/Master/husband.  *dies laughing*  I didn't advertise on my profile as a slave because I never wanted to be one.  I proclaimed myself to be a switch who was looking for a Daddy Dom.  I got an inquiry as to how one could be a little girl and....sadomasochist.  Once I explained it, Daddy was very interested as he saw a great deal of potential and diversity.  He soon convinced me that a little girl isn't far from a slave in the sense that they are both pretty much under totalitarian rule, i.e. a child's parent has the final say as does a slave's master.  The difference is that a little girl isn't service oriented.  Service is something I'll have to be trained in.  As far as switching, he doesn't, but he saw where that could become useful to him if he decides to take on a service slave for household chores.  It could also come in handy when teaching/training others in the lifestyle or simply for his amusement if he chooses to provide a bottom for me to spank.  ha ha ha  Marriage entitles him to certain legal benefits, such as claiming dependents on his taxes, medical decision making, etc.

Another thread mentioned that many people claim to be slaves but list no skills.  I didn't list any "skills" and in fact was quite honest about being domestically challenged and a horrible cook.  It's fine because Daddy is a sous chef, among other things, and totally domesticated.  I've already discovered that the way he wants his laundry done is completely different than my previous dominant's instructions, so what good would it have done to list anything when I'll have to learn to do things the way he wants them done?  What I bring to the table is an endearing personality (little girl), a willingness to learn how to please him and make that my primary job even above any outside work (slave), the capability to be the woman of the house (Mistress), and a desire to make that committment legal and binding for life (wife).

I am not going to refute this.  However, if this is so, that means anyone who is owned by their fetish/perversion/submission/kink/dominance/insertobsessionhere is a slave.
