As for my hair, my real hair is about shoulder length, but I generally never wear it that way. I wear ponytails, wigs, extentions, weaves and just about everything else
I like it because I can have short dark hair one day and long red curls the next, and then a straight blonde ponytail the day after.
It took my partner some time to get used to, but now he loves it, it keeps things interesting.

I like long hair because... well... have you seen my profile pic... LOL And its short now compared to what it used to be, used to have longer hair than most women I know. There's nothing necessarily femine about long hair, or masculine about short hair. I think its something else... maybe something more along the lines of long hair subconsciously representing more virility, more sexuality... and short hair being more associated with conformity, less sexuality, another cog in society. Ever notice that a high percentage of women cut their hair short after they get married? Men in white collar jobs who have long hair are about as rare as a blue moon. But look at the wilder side of society, bikers, strippers, rock stars, etc.... long hair abounds. Seeing a pattern in that? Maybe that desire for long hair has more to do with wanting a certain "wildness" in a potential partner, a certain uninhibitted freeness, a certain sexiness.

Padriag

You have nailed it...we used to have a dress code at state gov't...and the genuises from IT flaunted the fact that they were so valuable they did not have to follow; the boys had long hair or hair dyed green, and lots of tats and piercings...LOL..God forbid i ever needed one as a witness. Must have been fun for them. As for me, i dressed as expected but had long hair and wore great undies....cheered me up. Court dress never changed; white blouse, navy blue or black suit; skirt to the knees...it apparently was a Catholic school girl influence, LOL.

PERVERSEANGELIC, I have seen a lot of women with really short hair and they look gorgeous! My hair reaches my waist and is thick, course and very wavy (just misses being curly). I had short hair about 15 years ago, and for me, it was actually more of a pain in the ass to take care of than my long hair! Of course, I rarely blow dry my hair or do anything to it, so that might have something to do with it.

Nella, I twist my hair in a high knot when I sleep (unless it is very cold, lol) and never have much problem with it. Living in Florida it is a lot wavier than when I was in NJ, which is fine by me, makes it easier to take care of. I condition in the shower, comb it after and then don't do a thing to it until the next shower. I always say that I am reaching an age where I should cut it at least some, but I don't want to have to do anything to it and shorter requires work on it. My hair is thick enough that if I put it in a french braid while it is freshly wet from the shower, it will still be damp the next day, sort of like my own personal cooling system.

I say, wear your hair the way it flatters you most. I love Jamie Curtis' really short look, but it would be horrible on me. As for the morons who make the statements about being a "girl" again, or wanting to "once again be pretty", remind them that you have the luxury of changing your looks, while tomorrow they will still be morons!

pinkpleasures, Did you mean that Ohio courts still require that dark conservative stuff? NJ and Florida Courts have relaxed quite a bit from there, although somewhat conservative is still most favored. I did see an attorney in (swear to God), a green plaid suit once. That suit shouldn't have been allowed anywhere!

Greetings everyone, this is my first post here.

My hair extends till the middle of my upper thighs. This is the second time in my life, that i grew it long, the first time it was well over my hips.

I had the wonderful expericience of a shaved head in between. Wonderful feeling and a great look.

But in the long run, i love hair, on both man and woman. A person with long hair is often an attractive being for me.

Concerning hair in a bdsm context, as a switch see both sides of the coin, it has a lot of advantages. In the context of bondage, i am a shibari practioner and there is much more than i a simple hogtie....there are a lot of ways to compose hair and rope.

siamsa -- how do you apply the oil? My hair is very coarse and it sounds as if this would help.

Why is it that males, and Dominants in particular favor long hair on girls can it be that short hair is more masculine, and somehow indicate on some deep level a want for control, while long lox indicate a sort of innocence?

In some cases this statement made at the very start of this thread might well have hit the nail on the head. There are those male dominants who are intimidated by any display of masculinity be it in appearance, or mannerism. For some the preference for longer hair on a woman is purely based on their perception of beauty. For others it is rooted in their perception that masculine=strength and they are intimidated by strength in a woman, especially in a female sub.

It seems to me that the whole matter of hair length in the context we are discussing it relates to gender and how it relates to power in western culture. I think many male dominants (not all by any stretch, but far more than anyone would like to admit) find the notion of a woman who has the desire to submit in her heart, yet displays what they view as a sign of strength (read as masculinity) on her head, is highly unsettling to them.
Based upon their perception of how being female should relate to power (woman=weak), the idea that a woman could both understand herself to be a sub (in the eyes of many male dominants submissive female seems to equal "woman who understands that she is weak") but also keeps her hair short (and in their eyes short hair=masculinity and masculinity=strength) produces a power dynamic that simply does not compute for them.

But hey that’s just what I think, and I could be wrong.

Respectfully submitted

dk, you may just be correct there. Whilst I do have a preference for long hair and the way it moves, especially with the wind in it or the way I can coil it about my fingers; some of the most attractive and sexually desirable women I've known (in a professional manner in half of the cases anyway) have been female freedom fighters or female troopers in in my band of merry mercs. However I'll grant that the constant danger, sweat, and combat does bring out the animal side of those of us who enjoy that line of work. (Bonking when you dont know if this will be your last bonk does lend a sence of desperation and intensity to it also).

Well, I do admit that I haven't seen many women in Court here in Florida, although I also haven't been here that long. The accepted dress code for women always seems much more stringent than the men's. Such is life.

I actually like plaid, and to be honest, had he shown up in a kilt or something, it would have looked much better. It is just that some things should never be acceptable clothing....leisure suits pop immediately to mind.

Jump suits were good where they belonged. safari suits were also good where they were intended,. Neither of them good in a city.... Give me a pair of comfy GP's jeans or similar, body armour, and alice vest and a combat jacket and I'm comfy anywhere.

Jeez IronBear, what city do you think you're walking through, Baghdad? I've met drug dealers who wouldn't wear that much tactical gear and these were guys who were expecting to get shot at once a week! (worked on a community violence prevention project).

I mean not to knock your flow or anything Sir, but it does seem like a bit of overkill......no pun intended.

I have very short hair, not spikey short but no more than 2 1/2 inches long anywhere on my head. I have had ot this length for most of my adult life. Never once had a complaint from a Dominant. Then again it was a discussion with the two I have had in my life and altho they preferred long hair, they saw pics of my with long hair in my 20's and preferred it short. < LOL, a good thing for me >

As for the cavemen types... hehehe... as one of my Dominants once told me.. I like to pull hair and I am very adaptable, let's hope you are. He efforetlessly was able to run his hands on the side of my head, near the scalp and grab a nice chunk of hair for.. ummmm.. caveman stuff !!! < wink> Just a different style of " hair grabbing" but it worked for him. Now as for me.. it hurt like the Dickens. When your hair is short and someone grabs near the root and takes hold.. the pull it pretty intense, but I adapted.

My hair was long, or relatively long anyway (about an inch above my waist) until this past Wednesday. I cut a foot of it off and donated it to Locks of Love. I feel WONDERFUL with shorter hair, and most everyone says it looks fabulous.

When my hair was long I put it up every day; it was too bothersome to let it fall naturally, always getting in my way, etc. Now though, I can leave it down, so you can see the wonderful colour, and the way it moves. I think my shoulder length hair is much more attractive simply because you can see/feel/touch it, unlike the tight updos that I had most of the time otherwise.

Besides, it was for a good cause. I can always grow more hair; those poor children can't.

I always apply it much like an anti-frizz serum. Use a little tiny bit, rub it into your hands and comb it through, then if you need more, use a little bit more. It's great stuff.....

As for wigs and things staying where they are supposed to, you just have to know how to wear them. I have never had trouble (I just can't swim in them )

All I know is that Sir loves my long hair.. in braids.. that way when I am being bratty he can grab them and make me give him a BJ.. (the worst punishment for me).
He has used them to hogtie me too and many other things... But I think that even if I had short hair.. he would just figure something else out...
