I'm doing my best to get better...but it's not that easy.

and I'm sorry if I've been a bit rude, I'm used to posting on an un-moderated board...you can post whatever you like there...

Why should that make any difference as far as behavior goes?

You can't be civil simply because it is the "right" way to be..you need to be moderated?

In other words, you enjoy provoking people and saying hurtful things...and every response you make is geared toward getting more attention.

(which is what I think you really want...)

At some point people are going to begin to ignore you...I am beginning now.

<QR> I read 2.5 pages of this thread and realized it's said all it has to.

I wanted to add one fact.  In larger cities they run support groups that use a 12 step program that do not rely on god or prayer.  Usually the same houses that do normal 12 step stuff have a once a week night for athiest/agnostics who need help.

In a visit to a support group (part of studying psychology) I noticed that some 9/12 of the steps mention god.  The person running the group confirmed that they did a "god free" night every so often.

DOLL-I don't know if my post might get lost among these long 7 pages but I will try my best to give what information I know of. From reading along these posts that the OP made and others I noticed one post mentioned she might have Borderline and I wanted to see if, after reading this she feels she might have it. If not than thats okay but  I do know alot about many mental disorders and have studied them for years and years as well as had many in person experiences with many other people that have suffered from various mental disorders as well as myself.

Many people are often wrongly diagnosed as Bi Polar just because it is one of the most common mental diagnoses and many therapists are too lazy to take the time to make a proper diagnoses. It is very important to have a label, even though some may  not agree and I will tell you why. If you have a rare mental disorder it actually needs to be treated differently in therapy and usually with a very special therapist that specializes in that particular disorder and uses a special type of therapy. Psychotherapy , the (just get off your ass and do better) approach does not work for everyone, and can in fact, make many people worse, especially those with a personality disorder. There are other types of therapy and therapists that might be better suited to you than whomever you are seeing now.

For the disorder I am going to elaborate on, for example, you are right in that medications for the most part do not work because it is based in the person's core personality and not based on their brain chemicals.

Borderline Personality Disorder

1- Feelings of chronic emptyness and lonelyness
2- Suicidal ideation (frequent thoughts of death and dying)
3- Very poor interpersonal relationships with others
4- Seeing things in black and white, something either is or it isin't with no grey area in between
5- Extreme emotional sensitivity to critisism of any kind
6- Frequent feelings of annoyance and agitation lasting many hours
7- Constant moodiness feeling depressed one minute, angry the next (but no highs and lows like bi polar
8- Self mutilation, cutting, picking skin, or other forms of hurting oneself
9- Poor and/or underdeveloped self image

There is more to this if you need it. It is usually treated with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and the person suffering from this was most like sexually, emotionally, or physically abused in the past or grew up in a very invalidating environment where the person was told 'you are wrong, what your feeling is wrong' over and over again.
A person with this disorder sometimes has other, underlying disorders. Eating disorders are also common. It can also be common that the person with this disorder was teased in school too. I could go on and on but I will stop here. I hope this helps and if anyone needs more information let me know.

Thanks

I don't have any of those symptoms...cept like skin picking and generally pulling out my hair is put in that as well...but they're just coping mechanisms for my anxiety.

I'm not depressed and I very rarely get angry and never have violent out bursts. I'm not borderline. I'm bipolar...I have highs when I'm off meds...bad ones...where I do really stupid shit like meet men from online to have sex...and I have really bad racing thoughts like I can't concentrate at all and I don't sleep for 3-4 days at a time and then maybe sleep for 2 or 3 hours and then I'm up for days again...

I only gained weight b/c my metabolism was shot from my hypothyrodism. I recently had my metabolic rate tested and I was only burning 500 calories a day. It takes 3500 calories to gain a pound, so if I ate "normal" 2000 calories a day, I would be gaining several pounds a week.

Were you bulemic before your thyroid malfunctioned?

Summerblossom,Thanks for posting that...

Because in reality Doll, i think You are as ignorant as a rhodes scholar. This is simply a  fight You don't want to enter with me, let me preface these statements with that. Your behaviors  are one of  an attention seeking, borderline, selfish self seeking monster... i'm sorry if that offends You but those are Your behaviors... i think You need to go back and re-read the list that summerblossom posted...Because just based on your behaviors in the past 7 pages alone i'm able to identify these:  3- Very poor interpersonal relationships with others
9- Poor and/or underdeveloped self image.

Reality, is what it is....Your problems with your stomache? Here's a hint from the clue by four: they are a result of your eating disorder...More than likely no medication is going to help that.... The reason why none of your doctors will return your calls? Because you are unwilling to follow even their simplest suggestions.....

But, as normally happens with a person who meets diagnostic criteria for borderline personality disorder, you will more than likely not listen to a word i've written here.... Oh well...i'll sleep better tonight knowing i attempted to help you....
Kali

I think my doctors would have diagnosed me with borderline if I had it. YOU are NOT a doctor and you can not diagnose me from simply reading a few posts I've made on a forum.

If you were a doctor, you would know that you can't diagnose someone from talking to them online.

And I've seen several psychiatrists, a psych np, several therapists, I've been hospitalized a few times...they have NEVER said I'm borderline. I have PTSD, bipolar, social phobia and a bad anxiety problem.

This will be the last time i post on this thread...If you want to have a serious discussion please feel free to email me on the other side.  i don't believe anywhere in either one of my posts did i even attempt to diagnos you...i did however link your behaviors to a very specific and very challenge diagnosis... Something you may not be aware of is that most people diagnosed with BPD are unaware of it because they are so challenging and demanding that their psychiatric professionals don't want to have to deal with the fall out.

Actually Kalista, bipolar type II, mixed states frequently do not exhibit any highs. My oldest switches every five minutes between depression and anger/irritation, with comorbid of severe anxiety. She's on anticonvulsants for the bipolar and atypical antipsychotics for the severe anxiety. If pediatric or adolescent onset, then bipolar does not exhibit typical biopolar symptoms.

The head psychiatrist of the local adolescent psych ward diagnosed her from the literature, having never seen this variant before. The pediatric neurologist she had previously seen, very well regarded and a professor at a med school,  had never seen this variant before. Extremely rare, only 2 or 3 percent of bipolars have it.

That scrolled by, and is probably the most borderline statement I've ever seen.  Drama!

Read Wikipedia on 'Borderline: '

P - Paranoid ideas, post-traumatic
R - Relationship instability/abandonment fears
A - Anxiety, angry outbursts
I - Impulsive
S - Suicidal gestures
E - Empty feeling, eating disorder
M- Mood disorder

Listen to your doctors.

Good Luck.

Which anticonvulsant is she using now? I'm taking Neurontin right now, but I've tried Trileptal and Topamax...plus several antipsychotics but I refuse to take them again, they make me rapid cycle.

Blimey. And you think posting your mental/behavioural difficulties on an online forum is going to help how exactly?

Meeting men online and having sex is impulsivity which also falls into another borderline symptom.

Racing thoughts is also a borderline symptom.

Poor sleep can also be a borderline symptom.

You seem to be in the stage of denial and nobody can receive help until they first admit they have a problem.

And about the doctors not diagnosing you with borderline I can easily answer that.
I myself, have gone through many many years of getting different and wrong diagnoses until finally I found the person that gave me the correct diagnosis. There is a reason for this. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is something that most therapists do not like to recognize because not only is it among the new disorders but it is considered the hardest disorder to treat that exists. Also most therapists are not knowledgable in this disorder because they havent studied it much or been taught much about it other than the basics.

(I meant this for Doll but somehow I replied to someone else instead...oops..)
