this slave is not a doctor, but isn't nausea and vomiting one of the potential milder side effects of the Metformin you take?

a pregnancy is most certainly not the only thing that can cause random vomiting and/or mood swings.  For what it is worth, doctors really do not even know for sure what causes "morning sickness", all they have is theories...

why not start with the Dr. that prescribes your Metformin?  let them know you are experiencing negative side effects that you are concerned might or might not be related to your medication.  once there, you can discuss the mood swings or whatever else is bothering you.

best of luck to you!

I wish people would read the package insert sometimes.

Nausea and vomiting is one of the most common side effects of metformin.

Mood swings aren't as common, but they are hardly unexpected; just let the doctor know and see what s/he says.

Health,
al-Aswad.

If you just came off Lithium on your own both of those things could be side-effects. I would check with all of your doctors. The other Bi-Polar medication could have been Depakote or seriquill (spelled wrong). Just be careful. Just My opinion.

It wasn't depakote or seroquel it started with a L thats all I can remember....I do read the side effects of my medicine but I have been on Metformin for months this vomiting and mood swings just started like a month ago, so I know it isn't my metformin. I have been off my bi-polar meds for about half a year right now so this just popping up like this is unusual. I will be heading to my GP which is the one that gave me the metformin...just trying to calm my mind a bit I guess.

hehe :) I haven't tried that one yet...I've only tried Topamax, Trileptal, Neurontin...and then some antipsychotics like Geodon and Seroquel and stuff. Did it work for you? I'm taking Neurontin now but it makes me so dizzy...did you gain any weight from it?

Didn't gain any weight on it but I also was only on it for a few months before my insurance ran out. It did help but as you know different things work for different people what works for me might not work for you.

not sure if anyone else has said this but, it kind of sounds like you might be preggy!

have you missed a period, are your breasts more tender, back aches?

you could have one or a few signs and btw...even if you havn't missed a period you could still be pregnant.....

Well, I am thinking it is that and tommorow Iwill have the money to get a test to check and even if it says negative I will check with a blood test as well when I get to my doctor. If it isn't that then I will be making sure my doc can find out what it is.
