I've been told it's perfectly safe to eat before a BDSM session....but I'm pretty sure my Mom drilled into my head as a child that I shouldn't go swimming until at least 45 minutes after.

Because immediately after eating lots of extra blood goes to the stomach and intestines to get the digestion and absorption processes underway, which means a bit less available to circulate to muscles and brain. Going swimming generally applies cold to the body ... shutting down blood supply to the muscles even more ... which means a greater chance of cramp.

While bdsm play might be more likely to apply heat rather than cold (unless you're getting naked in a cold room), it's still best to avoid heavy meals before playing. Eat light, give it 30-45 mins, then play. As many have said, have water and nibbles to restore energy on hand ... Master has fed me bits of fruit, dried fruits, chocolate etc while all tied up as part of the play and it's fun (esp when i am blindfolded and i never know what taste will be next). And both Master and i get the munchies after play!

Status: offline 		Sometimes, but not always, we will go and get something to eat. Come back and usually just sit on the couch and talk or go in my room to lay down and talk, at least until i've decided i've had enough and want more

I eat very lightly before play and hydrate moderately.  We do a lot of rope suspensions and partial suspensions and I don't want to become nauseous during one, nor does it make SJ very happy if I say, "Dominus, I have to pee!" 

Afterwards, I am extremely hungry as is he, so we usually eat a full meal or a series of quality snacks.

Status: offline 		In general I like to have eaten about 2 to 3 hours before hand, that way I am not hungry but I am not full  either. If I am full I can not lay on my stomache w/ith out feeling like I am going to vomit. and then after depending on how hard the play was and intensity level I like to eat, but I prefere it to be fast food ish, not sit down dining.

Status: offline 		I had a problem with this very issue today.  We had a long day of playing, and while I had a few crackers before we met, I started feeling light-headed and dizzy very shortly into play; we had to stop and I ate a bagel which he had brought me, but didn't feel hungry for.  I forced it, had some vitamin water and was fine thereafter.  I have a tricky stomach and didn't want to eat anything heavy before just in case it bothered me, but learned today I need something substantial for all that work.    Master had the best chocolate on hand throughout the day to restore us on occasion, and we ordered lunch in.  Yummy.

Status: offline 		I eat what I usually eat.  Lunch, some dinner when I get home from work...then to bed.  Usually an hour or two after we eat something.  If I'm planning ahead, I always try to eat something an hour or two before bedtime so that I'm not too full and not strung out from being too hungry, but I usually go to bed that way anyway.

Status: offline 		Funny how you brought up the topic.. i've been embarrassed a few times with noises from within me during a quite session of foot worship.. my stomach can rumble and noises may come out of my mouth... i thought getting with me a chocolate bar on the next session, just imagine sucking on toes and taking a bite on the chocolate alternatively.. What would happen there?? Either my chocolate would taste different or the toes will become brown...

Status: offline 		I second what Ma'amJay says: eat about an hour before play for all the right reasons.  Something light but good carbs and some protein to last.  I find I'm pretty hungry afterward though and will have a big snack.  Lots and lots of water available, too.  I've found one of the greatest scenes is to be fed as the scene.  Bound, blindfolded, fed from the hand or mouth, and played throughout.  Makes dinner last an awfully long time and is soooooooo enjoyable!

Status: offline 		I suggest that you not only refrain from eating before play, but also drinking alcohol before play.  I made the mistake of getting drunk at the dungeon where a Domme was training me in SM techniques and got into all kinds of trouble.  Not only that, if someone inserts a butt plug in your butt after you eat, it can make for an embarrasing moment for you if you catch my drift of that one.  lol

Status: offline 		I try to eat about an hour before I leave for the club so that I have energy but not a full tummy to play on. Snacking afterwards is also good. Don't forget plenty of water.

I can see more bondage.com users are coming over to collarme.  Sort of a one man mission.  However the downside is more people from bondage.com  are coming over.  This thread is running over there too.
